Ten years later.
Jake and I went to the same high school. Jake and I both got major growth up. Jake looked like a fashion model, and I looked like an actress. My snow-white hair was long and loose, and my purple eyes shimmered in the sun. Jake's black hair and blue eyes looked amazing. And we walk into school on the first day of ninth grade together. Everyone starred at us, and I thought they were all starring at Jake since he is the captain of the football team but as we separated from each other to go to our lockers some guys came up to me and said, "You must be new I've never seen you before." I opened my locker and smacked it in his face then said, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry it just flew open. Please forgive me," He then said, "It's alright I'll just go to the nurse's office."
He stood up and some of his friends helped him and I felt so terrible. Then another group of guys walked up and said, "Do you have a sun burn or are you always this hot?" And others said, "I'm the best thing that is going to happen to you this year." And "Excuse me I think you dropped something, my jaw." And "Is your phone battery running low? Because you're charging my interest."
I just smiled uncomfortably and said, "I need to go to practice please excuse me." They nodded as I walked away to the field embarrassed. I went to the girl's locker room and changed into my running clothes and walked out. As I walked out, I walked into Jake and said, "With today's practice I'll kick your butt." He smirked and said, "Wanna make a bet?" I glared at him and said, "The one who wins is allowed to ask the loser for one wish and it can be anything they want." We shook hands and my heart fluttered. I guess you could say I like Jake. Okay I'm lying head over heels for him.
We all walked to the running poses and the couch said, "Today we'll see who the fastest runner is this year. But everyone will still be allowed to compete in the finals and all, only if you beat the one record that is to run 150 meters in 15 seconds then you will be part of the Nacional team. "Then she said, "I'll ask you guys to run in pairs and beat the person you are up against. Understand?" She then said, "I will be choosing who is up against who. Got it?" Everyone nodded and the coach said who was up against who and I was up against Jake, and it was the last round we were supposed to run.
When the last round rolled around Jake, and I got ready to beat each other. When we stood at the starting line when the coach fire the gun and we sprinted. I ran as fast as I could and made it to the finish line in 5 seconds where it took Jake 9 seconds. "I won." I said looking at him. He was out of breath, and I said, "Why are you so out of breath and you owe me a wish." I gave him a water bottle and said, "So tell me what your wish is." Before I could speak a girl came up and said, "Babe you did well in the rase. I'm sure you will make the team." I gave Jake a confused look. He looked away then said, "I forgot to tell you, Emily, this is my girlfriend, Amy."
Why does her name sound familiar. I looked at her and said, "Hi I'm Emily, Jake's best friend." she then said, "I know Jake has told me a lot about you. And you look so much beautifier in person." I felt butterflies in my stomach but hid it because he had a girlfriend. Then I told Jake, "I have class I'll see you later." I walked away feeling ashamed of my feelings and went to my class.
During lunch the coach announced the track team members it was me, Jake and a few other students. I was glad to be in the team but the thought of seeing Amy showing up for every practice was torcher.
After school I saw Jake and Amy getting in his car together. Did he forget he was also my ride home? Asshole why does that girl remined me of someone and she gave off this weird vibe I hate. I saw Jake wasn't coming back so I started walking home. Our house was far away from school so I couldn't believe he left me to walk that far.
As I walked, I saw some teenagers from my school bully a middle school kid. I felt my anger boil and walked to them. "Turn around and hands up!" I said loudly as they dropped the bat and her bag. "Leave before this gets messy." I spoke. They ran away in an instead. I helped the girl up and sha said, "Thank you for helping me, my name is Lilly, and they were trying to take my money my dad gave me." "Well, my name is Emily and I'm happy I could help you those are the guys in my school and I recorded what they were doing so they will be in jail for a year or two because the harassed a little girl. But I'm glad you're safe. Why are you here alone anyway?"
She looked at me and said, "My sister was supposed to take me home, but she went with her boyfriend and left me here all alone." I felt her pain then said, "I can walk home with you just lead the way." She instantly smiled and I smiled back. As we walked to her house, we talked about all sorts of different things.
Once we stopped at her house, I recognized it and said, "You are the mayors daughter?" She nodded and said, "Please come in so my dad can reward you." I was shocked and replied honestly, "No need I didn't do this for a reward I wanted to help you that's all." She then asked, "Will you walk home with me every day then?" I nodded and said, "Yes I would be honored." With that she walked through the gates, and I waved goodbye and started walking home.
Once I got home, I heard Jakes mom and dad yelling at him. I walked in and said, "Why the noise?" They all looked at me and Jakes mom hugged me and said, "I am so glad you got home save." I patted her back and said, "I got home after helping someone after I saw Jake with his girlfriend in the car leaving me behind at school." His parents turned to him as I said the word girlfriend and I instantly realized my mistake. His father then said, "You left Emily for a girl you never told us about?" I looked at him mouthing, "I'm sorry'. He rolled his eyes at me, and I felt my heart break. I walked up the stairs to my room as Jakes mom and dad yelled at him for leaving me behind at school. I didn't say anything about Lilly the (mayor's daughter).
When it was time for dinner, I went down the aura in the kitchen was not a good one I didn't say anything and just walked away. I went out the front door to get fresh air. I have caused so much pain for this family, but they keep me here for some reason. They always say nothing was my fault, but everything is my fault. I cried softly so no one would hear me. I got up and walked towards the park where Jake and I used to play when we were younger. I sat on a bench and watched kids playing in the playground smiling, laughing and having fun. I missed those days. I loved teasing Jake because I was stronger but now it's the other way around and he promised to keep me save but he is ready to throw me away the chance he got.
One of the little girls ran up to me and asked, "Lady, can you please push me on the swing?" Her mother came running and said, "Em, you can't go around asking people that." I looked at the girl who looked sad and said, "Yes I'll push you on the swing but what is your name?" The girl smiled and said, "My name is Emily." She then pulled my arm towards the swings and her mother sighed in relive and said, "Thank you ma'am this will mean a lot to her." I looked at the mother again and she looked tired and was holding a sleeping baby in her arms. I then said, "Ma'am please rest I'll look after them." The women smiled at my kindness gave me the baby and used her bag as a pillow on the bench then she said, "You truly are an angle." She fell asleep as I pushed the little girl Emily on the swing and rocked the baby to keep it asleep. I had fun.
After two hours the women woke up to see her daughter asleep on my lap and the baby asleep in my arms as I sat on the bench opposite of her and smiled at them sleeping. She walked up to me and said, "Thank you for helping me." I smiled and said, "It was nothing. If you don't mind and can help you get them home." She looked at me and said, "That would be helpful." As we walked towards her house Emily was on my back as the women carried the baby. Once we got there, she thanked me again and I felt helpful for once. "It was a pleasure. Here is my number, next time when you go to the park or need of time, please give me a call and I'll help you in whatever way I can." She gave me a hug and tears streamed down her face. She then said, "Thank you. You are such an angel, you know that?" I nodded and said goodbye and started walking back home not really wanting to go home.
As I reached the door and opened it the lights were on, but no one was there. Where are they? Maybe they went out. I walked up the stairs and into my room. I showered and climbed in bed.
