"Peter could you repeat that, just one more time?" my twisted sister said.
"I swear I'll have my revenge ten fold if you make me say it again." I was annoyed and could tell she was savouring the moment.
She swayed her arm out in front of me with a teasing smile,"indulge me just this once."
I grumbled and spoke,"could you take me to the florist before Monday."
She laughed enough for Charlie to hear downstairs,"my baby brother finally got a date with Jessica huh? What will poor Mike do now after I convinced him to ask her out."
I mumbled "its not Jessica."
Bella jumped from her bed surprised, "then who?"
"It doesn't matter who in the end now does it?"
"no ride then." she said blunty.
I stared daggers at her eyes trying to make her relent, failing misserably, "its Alice, Alice Cullen."
She put her hands on my shoulders and gave me a face of pity, "she's above your league baby brother I'll spare you the embrassment."
I nearly yelled with anger at her discouragement, "she asked for them!"
Bella stood still, shocked at my statement her mouth open,"I-when did that happen."
"while you were getting dumped by Edward." I said in frustration.
She merly smacked my cheek gently, "nice try Peter but you'll have to try better then that. Come on I'd hate for Charlie's breakfast to go cold."
Irritated I made my way downstairs and sat at the table. I heard a cough from dad and looked up from my plate, I could see his discomfort and Bella's grin. "son you do know, *cough*, when a boy and girl get together-"
I smacked my hand on the table, "yes and yes just please lets have a normal breakfast and no, there won't be any children."
"past first base huh Peter?" said Bella with amussment.
"No! shut up Bella." I said while stuffing my mouth with bacon, earning a chuckle from the two of them.
After finishing breakfast we brushed our teeth and headed for La Push in Tyler's van, thankfully Bella stopped her relentless teasing.
While I was packing up the snacks we would bring down to the beach a group of kids came near us. They had long hair almost reaching their waist and I could tell were natives.
They came up to Bella and me, "well if it ain't the twin Swans."
Only a few kids called us that before my unfortunate incident. "Jacob that really you?"
"Damn right." I gave him a hug.
"Your so tall now, the hair is by far the most surprising and you pull it off well. Wait is that Sam and Embry?"
I shook each of their hands and pulled them into a hug. "One of the Swans look happy to see us but the other one is depressed, you know swans can die from a broken heart Bella." Said Jacob as a joke.
Jessica chimed "she's sad because her date bailed, you guys should keep her company."
"What date?" Said Eric.
"Edward Cullen." Answered Jessica.
"I was being polite." Said Bella.
"I think it was nice she invited Edward, no one ever does" voiced Angela.
"Ya cause the Cullen's a freak" Mike said fully intent on insulting him.
Surprisingly Sam agreed with him "you got that right."
"You guys know him?" Asked Bella.
"The Cullens don't come here." Sam responded.
Trying to change the subject I asked Jacob a question, "how come you haven't gone up to meet us?"
He scratched his neck, "well my dad said you might get angsty of a van on your driveway. "
"Oh", I said timidly.
Sam smacked my shoulder playfully "hey you still chicken when it comes to hights Swan?"
I grinned ear to ear exposing my dimples, "I wasn't the one crying to his momma after a little boo-boo to the knee."
He wrapped his arm around my shoulders, "come on, let's leave the kids behind, I got something to show you."
Me, Sam and Embry walked towards the cliff next to the beach. We shared banter and reminisced on old times. It felt like ages ago we hanged out together yet at the same time we shared the same friendship we had at the start.
We reached the top of the cliff, "alright Swan, do you still know how to swim?"
"I'll have you know I made the bench for the swimming team at Phoenix."
"Sure whatever water boy." Said Embry
"Alright here's the dare chicken, jump the cliff." Said Sam
"Wait what?"
"You heard me dumbass, jump."
"Nah are you stupid? Look at the height plus it must be freezing."
"Chicken."
"I'm sorry but I won't jump off a bridge if my friend does it."
"Really now? I thought we had something Swan." He said teasingly
I turned to mock him when I saw he only had his underwear on, "oh God wear a blanket or something my eyes are scarred for life."
"You wish you could wake up to something this beautiful Swan, see you at the other side pussy." And he ran off the cliff.
"Fuck me is he mad?" I said
Both me and Embry hurried to edge of the cliff to see if he was fine. One, two...ten seconds went by and I didn't see him pop up to the surface.
"Oh shit." Said Embry with a worried tone.
I hurriedly began stripping my clothes, muttering insults, "that stupid dumbass."
Goddammit if my mom saw me doing this she would never let me leave Phoenix again.
"Ahhhh" I screamed as I jumped off the cliff.
Despite falling from a large hight I descended rapidly and landed in the water within two seconds. Perhaps the adrenaline pumping through my veins, I barely felt the impact. I searched for Sam under the water but it was too dark to see anything further than a couple of feet. I resurfaced anxious at what could be the end of my friend when I heard his laughter.
"Hahaha, it seems the Swan learned to fly in my absence."
"I'll have your head Sam Uley when I get my hands-" *splash*
I turned to see Embry's head bobbing on the surface of the water with a shit eating grin, "nice, your plan worked Sam."
"Goddammit Embry where's our clothes."
"Whoops."
I really wanted to drown them both in that instance, "let's just get to beach first before I do anything."
"Whatever you say Swan" yelled Sam across the water.
When we got out of the water, I held my arms around my chest at the freezing cold air.
"Damn its cold." Said Embry.
"No shit Sherlock. Let's find Bella and the others hopefully they have extra towels or something."
"Ah I missed the genius Swan from before he left, what would I have done without my knight in shining armour." Taunted Sam.
Tired of his sly remarks I chased his laughing presence across the beach until we reached the others.
With towels around us and a campfire we scrambled to make, we sat talking about sports and the things we did while away from each other.
"So your dating a girl called Leah?"
"Yes sir."
"Poor soul."
"Nah their perfect for one another, both stubborn and hopelessly in love with one another. " said Embry
"Well at least I got someone Embry, what about you Swan."
"It's complicated but I might have someone I'm interested in."
"Oh someone caught the Swan's eye huh? Pray tell who is it."
"Alice Cullen "
"A Cullen! You know they only care about their needs and are stuck up in their status right?"
"I don't care about what ever grudge you have with them Sam."
"It's more than that, it's a generational discord between my tribe and there's."
"Well I didn't jump off a cliff for a Cullen but for a Quileute."
We quieted down from the disagreement, we just watched the embers from the campfire.
"There's a baseball game coming up soon, Washington Nationals against your Arizona Diamondbacks. We could accompany Jacob and his dad to watch it, that way I could drop of your clothes. I got a hunch you won't want to make the hike again. "
"I bet five bucks on the Diamondbacks."
"Ha make it ten."
"Deal, don't be sorry after losing them Uley."
"I just hope you can pay this time Swan."
We went back home after the fire died down, I bid farewell to Jacob who spent his time with Bella. Even though they were great friends in the past I noticed Bella in a pensive mood. On the van Jessica kept questioning me about the spring dance to which I used Bella's excuse of having to accompany her to Jacksonville.
At home we ate dinner and went to bed peacefully. Although I woke up every now then when hearing Bella moving around in her room restlessly.
Sunday morning arrived and I hurried Bella to eat breakfast so she could take me to the florist.
"No this can't be, why world. Alice will have my head on a spike." I said looking at the sign at the florist, 'closed Sundays'.
Bella patted my back, "you think she would accept dandelions?"
"I'm telling Edward to lower his standards for you."
"Come on I got homework to do, just tell her your sorry and you'll get it for Tuesday."
I slept that night oddly worried for a women I'm not even dating. I woke up with a bright sky today, the sun was out in Forks.
Bella took us to school while telling me how she would explain the situation to Edward when she got the chance. Since when where they so close? We saw the gang seated at a bench and surprisingly no sign of the Cullens.
Me and Bella sat next together while Jessica sat on top of the bench basking in the sun. I was playing my Gameboy while they spoke.
"He's not here. Whenever the weather is nice, the Cullens disappear." Said Jessica.
"They just ditched?" Voiced Bella.
"No um, Doctor and Mrs Cullen yank them out for hiking and stuff. Tried that out on my parents, not even close." Responded Jessica.
Angela walked over, "guys, I'm going to the dance with Eric. I just asked him and I took control."
"I told you that would happen." Said Bella.
"Are you sure you have to go out of town?" Asked Angela.
"Ya its a family thing, right Peter?"
"Huh, ya tradition and all that." I said while trying to beat a level.
"Ok we should go shopping to Port Angeles before the good dresses get cleaned out." Said Jessica.
"Port Angeles, you mind if I come?" Asked Bella.
"Ya I need your opinion." Chuckled Angela.
Without asking for my opinion Bella dropped the keys on the bench for me to go home alone later. Blood is thicker than water, what a load of horse shit. At least the world spared me of the fury of the pixie.
The day went by smoothly and I made my way home driving at the fastest speed I could, 50 miles per hour. Charlie wasn't there but I received a phone call shortly from him to say he would be late. I went to my room to finish homework and stole Bella's working laptop.
I sent an email to mom, I apologized for taking a month to email and told her about everything but Alice. I knew she would interrogate me later. By then the sun was covered by clouds again near the evening.
*ring*
I got a call from Alice, I answered praying she wouldn't ask about the flowers.
"Hey Alice what's up?"
"Not much, just wanted to know if your free or are you with Bella?"
"Uh no she's out shopping? Perhaps, not sure if she'll buy a gown or not. Need me for something."
"Yay that means I can pick you up for our school project."
"What do you mean? Can't we do it at school?"
"Ha as if the school had the supplies for a dress and suit, I'll pick you up in ten, Cya."
"Wait-" She hanged up.
I'm dead, there's no escaping it. I sighed knowing my defeat was inevitable. Walking downstairs I left a note that I would go with Alice to work on a project. By then I heard a *beep* coming from outside.
I went outside closing the door, thankfully Forks was one of the few trust worthy places in the country were it was normal to trust your neighbors with an unlocked door.
Alice was in a slick yellow 2006 Porsche 911 Turbo, "nice ride."
She grinned, "where's my rose Peter."
I could feel the sweat coming down my forehead, "I went Sunday to the florist."
"Yes?"
"Bella drove me there."
"Uh-huh."
"And the florist was closed."
"So what your saying is you failed to get me one measly rose?"
"Ya sorry." I smiled apologetically.
"Hmm that'll cost you, you know?"
"How much?"
"Just a small favour nothing more, get in we don't have all day."
I jumped in hiding my excitement for the car, "so where are we going?"
"To my house, don't worry only my mother is there."
I was startled by what she said that I didn't realize her jumping straight to 100 on the road. I didn't even shower before this and I'm going to meet her mother.
