Chapter 11 - Confrontations can be both Informative and fun

"Expecto Patronum!"

It was the tenth attempt and Ron only got a small burst of silver smoke.

Hazel frowned. "Are you thinking of a truly happy thought Ronny?"

"Of course I am."

Hazel shrugged, stood, and stretched. "Then you're trying too hard. Calm down and don't think about it for a while. And the next time you try don't be so exaggerated."

She pulled her wand out and pointed it and calmly stated. "Expecto Patronum." And her smoky silver dragon swirled up to quickly disappear.

Ron just casually flipped his wrist and said the incantation and something ran from his wand. Ron stood there with his eyes wide open in disbelief. He looked to Hazel and she just shrugged with a smile.

"A dog. Good work. He is actually cute." She sat down and picked up a book. "Now explain why you are following Professor Quirrell when we all know that he is dangerous." She shook her head. I really should have told my mom.

"But that is why. We have to know what he is up to."

"No you don't. You just need to know it has to do with Voldemort and leave it at that. Well inform someone you trust as well. But that is it. Whatever he is after it is too much for him. All this time and he has not found it maybe he can't find it."

Harry, Hermione, and Ron all looked to each other and Hazel frowned.

"What?"

"Well. We were thinking that maybe you could do a divination and, well…"

Hermione trailed off as she watched her friend's face go from confused to angry and then to uncertain. Harry picked up where Hermione stopped.

"It's just that if you can see what will happen maybe we will know what to do."

Hazel sighed and tears welled up in her eyes.

"You do not understand. It is hard knowing things you shouldn't then knowing who you can and can not tell." She looked to Harry. "How would our lives had been if that idiotic prophecy had not been heard? You know I looked into things and it could have been a different boy. Some family named Longbottom. Their son met the criteria as well. What would have happened if Voldemort chose his family instead of ours?"

Everything was quiet. What could they say?

"Neville Longbottom? It is not possible. He could never be the one."

"And why not? You do not know how he would be if he were the one with a lightning bolt on his forehead. I am sorry. But I can't. It might get you killed."

"So are there things you have seen about us that you can not talk about?"

Harry was about to rebuke Hermione when his sister answered.

"Yes. But nothing bad. But if I told you about them it may cause things to change." She looked down. "I did see something bad about Michael and I am scared to act because I am not sure if my reaction would help or harm him."

"Did you see something really bad?"

"Yes. And I feel like if I do not do something Rosa will eventually kill him. But what if my action gets him killed?"

She stood up. "I would really like us to try dimensional travel together. I would like you to meet Evervine and Marcel. Would you mind traveling to meet them?"

There was silence and when Hazel realized she had closed her eyes to make her request she opened them to see perplexed expressions with hints of amusement on Harry Hermione and Ron's faces. She frowned.

"What?"

"Why so formal?"

Ron stood up stiffly and mimicked her a bit and Harry smacked him on the back of his head.

"She was nervous. No need to be so nervous. I am your brother and they are your friends. I would like to meet Evervine and Marcel."

"I would too but I really want to see your dimension too."

"Oh we won't go to Tan Dimension we are going to go to Elly."

"Elly? What number is that?"

"Fourth."

Hazel and Hermione began talking about things that made no sense to neither Harry nor Ron so they stopped listening.

"Great I will get them and we will all leave from here."

Hazel closed her eyes and the area in front of her shimmered a bit. And suddenly there were two people before them. Harry's eyes were wide. Hermione had a big smile on her face and Ron frowned a bit.

"Finally! I thought that maybe they had said no." Evervine spoke very professionally as she wiped down her robes as if she took an actual trip.

Marcel smiled brightly but Hazel introduced everyone and went right to work opening a dimensional door.

"Have you ever seen her open a dimensional door?"

Harry looked at the lovely witch with straight long black hair and brilliant green eyes. "No. But I have seen her open a portal. From what I understand there is a big difference."

"There is. Dimensional doors are much more complex and a lot more work. I hear they are not taught to travelers until the second half of second year and even then students are not expected to be successful until third year sometimes."

Marcel politely moved between Harry and Evervine as he spoke. Hermione was completely focused on Hazel. She had taken her beautiful black wand and written fiery runes into the air. Once the third line was complete they burned white hot and slowly vanished. Then a flame erupted and their hair blew back in a cool refreshing wind and a white wood paneled door was in front of them when the wind died down. Hazel moved forward and tapped the door once. It smoothly opened and a bright sunny landscape appeared.

"Oh it's daytime there?"

"I believe it is always daytime in Elly. Hazel?"

"Yes. Their solar system circles two suns and the only viable planet that we know of has another three suns circling it. It does have what you would call a moon as well but it follows the rotation of their smallest sun so they are always in the sky together.

"Okay Evervine wants to see an actual flurristeer for transfiguration and Marcel is looking for asper wisp."

"Asper wisp? That's extinct."

"Yes in all the dimensions except for Elly." Hermione was suddenly extremely excited again. She had never heard of a flurristeer but she understood how important it was to completely understand something to change into it. And she knew how important asper wisp used to be to the magical world.

They all walked into the dimension and it was like walking through a light curtain. A load that they never knew was on their backs shifted and readjusted itself as they did so. This was the magic of the traveler. A good door would automatically adjust the body to be suited for the laws of the dimension you were entering.

The Asper wisp was easy to find. The Wizarding world's of the seven dimensions put strict rules on collecting the plant so that it continued flourished. Hazel helped Marcel pick enough for everyone then she used nature magics to "heal" the cuttings and allow the plant to stabilize and even begin to regrow where it had been cut.

It was a deep red plant with red leaves and blooms. The bloom was a fiery red while the stem and leaves were variegated shades of red from garnet and blood reds to lighter orangey and yellowish reds.

The flurristeer was a difficult find because it was quick, it camouflaged itself, and it could fly. Once you spotted it there was no telling where the creature would be next.

Hazel sighed and pursed her lips. "Okay. They like nature. Let me see if I can call it to us."

She took out her wound and when the others began to move away she indicated that they should stay close. There was a flurry of something indescribable released and the plants and all of nature around them responded. It was like summer and fall combined. Dew on leaves and warm summer breezes. And four flurristeers came from no where to flutter before her.

They looked like elongated humming birds but with four wings and their iridescent feathers shimmered and changed color in the light.

"Good evening. We mean you no harm. My friends here would like to examine you. They are both studying transfiguration and they are perfectionists."

The flurristeers moved in front of both Evervine and Hermione then back to Hazel. After a brief moment Hazel spoke. "They have agreed and asked what you would like them to do."

"Is there anyway that they could stop moving or move slower? I am sure you can see them perfectly but…" Evervine simply shook her head. The flurristeers discussed this and then returned to Hazel. After a moment she nodded and moved Hermione next to Evervine and then stood in front of them.

All four flurristeers landed on Hazel's shoulders, two a shoulder. Evervine smiled and nodded in satisfaction. By now the boys were sitting and simply watching blankly, all three slightly disinterested.

All six of them stepped back on to the dreamscape.

"We just need more practice Evervine. They are very small. No one could get this on the first try."

Evervine pursed her lips and Hermione frowned and looked to Hazel.

"Could they?"

"Yes she is the perfect one to ask. I am pretty sure she can. She is already at a year five level for transfiguration."

Hermione's eyes went wide but Hazel pretended not to see her reaction or hear their conversation.

"Time is different in Elly so you still have time to get some sleep. I will see you all soon." Hazel hugged Hermione then gave Ron their high five low five greeting/farewell and hugged her brother. Then Evervine cleared her throat.

"Marcel and I have been talking and we want to train with you. You are going to need help with Rosa Hazel. Let us help you."

Harry frowned. "Is it that bad?" Harry had asked Marcel. They had already become fast friends.

"Maybe even worse. I am sure that my cousin is already lost. But Rosa wants Hazel dead."

Evervine nodded in agreement.

"Okay. Next time we meet we will talk about this." Harry looked concerned but he trusted his sister.

Star Academy: As Harry, Hermione and Ron were completing tasks to find the philosopher's stone Rosa was making her first attempt on Hazel's life.

The day had been long and Hazel was tired. She moved quietly through the halls of Star Academy in the early morning hours. Of course this was nothing new and the portraits in the halls, the possessed suits of armor, and the ghosts, spirits and apparitions she saw along the way all greeted her. Indicating just how regularly she was up at all hours of the night.

Tonight she would get a good two hours of sleep but it didn't matter. She knew a good vibrancy charm. It woke and refreshed whoever it was cast on. Her thoughts suddenly jammed in her mind and she shook her head thinking she may have over worked herself tonight. But then her discernment kicked in. A quiet feeling deep in her subconscious tugging at her consciousness.

She narrowed her eyes and, just because, dove to her right just as a long black dart landed where she had just stood. Two of the portraits nearest her had turned to see why she was jumping around and saw the long black dart and gasped. This alerted all the portraits, suits of armor, spirits, and apparitions along the hall and an intruder alert was rang all through the school.

Both Headmistress Pillar and Assistant Headmistress Sing were alerted to the situation and caretaker Snapdragon and his pet fire hound were in the secret passage ways heading to her.

None of this mattered to the intruder as they continued their assault and Hazel found herself wondering who would do this. Rosa's coarse smile flashed in her mind and she told herself to stop being suspicious, that this couldn't be about Rosa. Her face flashed through her mind again, this time with a sinister smile and Hazel barely avoided another dart.

She had her wand raised and cast an illumination spell. Not to cast light but to reveal things hidden. She saw a figure behind a watery vale smiling at her in a maliciously vicious way. But when he stepped right he was invisible again.

He was very powerful.

Then she had a vision. A tall man dressed in black stood in a corner listening to an odd melody. He imagined hands on his body, reaching into his mouth and pressing at his eyes. He was terrified and elated.

"You will kill her for me or I will have to send you away. You will bring me her head, her wands, and that unique crystal of hers. All that is hers is mine."

As Hazel's senses told her it was Rosa speaking to this man she realized Rosa was not speaking but singing oddly, not oddly, but in some sort of language meant to be spoken under water. That was it. It was a language similar to that of the Mer people.

Hazel was out of her vision in a second but the distraction was enough for a dart to graze her and the invisible person to cackled. She was scratched and as she marveled at the power of this person who was able to break her defenses and avoid her spells she began to succumb to a poison. She used her wand and cast a nature charm on herself that cast all foreign substances out.

As she passed out she began vomiting black sludge. As it came out of her mouth it also came out of her eyes, ears, and nose as well.

Hazel didn't know this because she was already unconscious, oblivious, and defenseless.
