Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Elixirs, Gold, and the Old Man in Black

Yin Yin sat in his ruined lab, panting. The aftershock of switching between dimensions still echoed in his chest like rolling thunder. His mind raced. The ring—his invention—was working in a way he never intended.

"I can go back and forth… between Earth and that cultivation world?"

His eyes gleamed.

He had just discovered the biggest cheat in history.

Within hours, he made a plan. He returned to the ancient world again through the ring, walking carefully through the mansion where his 'new' mother kept him hidden. She seemed to be from a background even the heavens feared, but Yin Yin didn't want to rely on her.

Not yet.

He raided his new "room" for valuables: antique gold coins, spiritual weapons, jade pendants, scrolls, and most importantly—elixirs. Though he had no spiritual root, he knew that these potions, useless in the cultivation world, might be a game-changer on Earth.

He returned through the portal with a full duffel bag.

The next day, Yin Yin walked into an upscale antique shop downtown. His ragged clothes contrasted harshly with the glowing jade pendant and gold coins he laid out on the counter.

The manager laughed. "Where'd you steal these from, kid? Movie props?"

"I didn't steal anything," Yin Yin said calmly, then pulled out a small bottle of glowing red liquid. "How about this?"

The shop owner's laughter died when the red elixir shimmered like molten ruby. Still skeptical, the owner waved it off.

"I've seen better effects at a club."

Yin Yin sighed and turned to leave—but then, the shop's bell rang. An old man in a black suit walked in. His aura was like royalty, and when his eyes fell on the elixir, he froze.

"W-wait," the old man said softly, approaching. He picked up the elixir, uncorked it, and his pupils shrank. "This… this is not from Earth."

Yin Yin narrowed his eyes. "You can tell?"

The old man smiled. "Young man, I've studied medicine, antiques, and energy flow my entire life. This thing—this is beyond divine."

Without hesitation, he offered 500 million for just two bottles.

Everyone in the shop went silent. The shopkeeper almost fainted.

Yin Yin smirked. "Deal."

---

Now loaded with cash, he paid off a portion of his family's debt, bought medication for his sister's health problems, and even secretly deposited money into his brother's bank account.

But he didn't stop there.

Returning again to the cultivation world, he stood under the moonlight in the ancient courtyard.

"I've tasted the power of science and wealth. Now I want the power of the heavens."

He sat cross-legged and began to cultivate.

A warm energy filled his body for one second… before vanishing.

His spiritual pool dried up instantly.

No matter how many times he tried—he remained powerless.

But Yin Yin didn't curse or cry. He was a scientist. He studied.

Using his vast Earth knowledge, he broke down cultivation theory and combined it with human physiology, meditation psychology, and quantum focus.

He began practicing 56 different techniques, absorbing every martial scroll he could find, trying to adapt them to his non-spiritual body.

The other disciples laughed.

Trash. Waste. Mortal.

He didn't care.

"Spiritual root or not… I will defy your heavens," he muttered with a grin.

And far away in the sky… something stirred.
