Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: A Game of Control

Ruhi wasn't going to let him win. Not tonight.

She straightened her posture, took a sip of her drink, and ignored the way her pulse quickened under Abhi's gaze. He was still watching her, his lips curled into that annoyingly confident smirk, as if he already knew she was affected by his presence.

Fine. Two could play this game.

With a deliberate air of nonchalance, she turned to Meera. "Let's dance."

Meera raised a brow but grinned. "Now you're talking."

The music pulsed around them as they stepped onto the dance floor. Ruhi let herself get lost in the rhythm, swaying to the beat, her hair flowing around her shoulders. She could feel the heat of eyes on her, but she refused to look.

Not yet.

---

Abhi watched, intrigued.

Ruhi had surprised him by showing up, and now she was surprising him again. The way she danced—confident, carefree—made it impossible to look away.

Tanya pressed closer to him. "Looks like someone's trying to get your attention."

Abhi chuckled, swirling his drink. "And here I thought she didn't care."

He didn't hesitate. Leaving Tanya mid-sentence, he made his way to the dance floor, slipping through the crowd with practiced ease. Within moments, he was next to Ruhi.

She pretended not to notice.

"Having fun?" he asked, his voice smooth over the music.

Ruhi finally turned to face him, her eyes gleaming with challenge. "Didn't think this was your scene."

Abhi smirked. "And I didn't think this was yours."

She shrugged, taking a step closer, their proximity almost dangerous. "Maybe you don't know me as well as you think."

He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping just for her. "Or maybe I know exactly what you're doing."

Ruhi raised a brow. "Oh? And what am I doing?"

Abhi's gaze flickered to her lips before meeting her eyes again. "Trying to make me jealous."

Ruhi laughed, a soft, mocking sound. "That would require me to care, wouldn't it?"

He grinned. "Would it?"

For a moment, they just stood there, the tension thick between them. The music, the crowd, everything else faded. It was just the two of them in this push-and-pull, this unspoken game where neither wanted to be the first to admit defeat.

Then, Ruhi stepped back, breaking the moment. "Enjoy your night, Abhi."

And just like that, she walked away, leaving him standing there, watching her go.

Abhi let out a small chuckle, running a hand through his hair.

Oh, this was getting interesting.

....to be continued.....

She danced like she didn't care.

He chased her like he always won.

But tonight?

Nobody walked away without feeling something.

Ruhi just flipped the game—and Abhi's used to being the one in control. Who's really winning here?
