Chapter 7 - Chapter 7:the denial

Ruhi could still feel the heat of Abhi's gaze on her as she walked away, but she refused to turn back. She had played her part well tonight—showed him that she wasn't like the others, that she wasn't affected by his charm. But the truth was, her heart was still racing.

She stepped outside onto the terrace, needing a moment to collect herself. The cool air brushed against her skin, helping her steady her breath. This was just a game. She wasn't actually falling for him. She couldn't afford to.

But then why did she feel so restless?

"You left the party early."

Ruhi stiffened at the familiar voice. She turned to find Abhi leaning against the railing, watching her with that same knowing smirk.

She folded her arms, masking her nerves. "And you followed me. Obsessive much?"

Abhi chuckled, stepping closer. "I was just curious. You looked like you were having fun, and then suddenly, you disappeared."

"I got bored."

"Or maybe you didn't like seeing me with Tanya."

Ruhi rolled her eyes. "Please. You're free to do whatever you want."

Abhi tilted his head, studying her. "You know, for someone who claims not to care, you sure react a lot."

Ruhi took a slow step forward, closing the distance between them. "And for someone who has girls lining up for him, you sure seem stuck on me."

His smirk deepened. "Maybe I just like a challenge."

She held his gaze, refusing to be the first to look away. The tension between them crackled, unspoken words hanging in the air. It was a dangerous game, one neither of them was willing to lose.

Before either of them could say anything more, the terrace door swung open. Tanya's voice rang out. "Abhi? What are you doing out here?"

Ruhi immediately stepped back, her mask of indifference sliding back into place. Abhi glanced at Tanya, then back at Ruhi, something unreadable in his eyes.

"Just getting some air," he said smoothly.

Ruhi took that as her cue to leave. Without another word, she walked past Tanya, not sparing Abhi another glance.

But as she stepped away, she couldn't ignore the way her heart still pounded.

Neither could Abhi.

.....to be continued...

She walked away again.

But this time?

Even the air between them felt like it remembered their tension.

Ruhi says she doesn't care.

Abhi says it's just curiosity.

But their hearts?

They're already playing by different rules.

Things are heating up, and the lines between game and feeling are starting to blur.

What happens when the player starts catching real feelings?

And what if the girl he's chasing has secrets of her own?
