[Gizmo was the intellectual property of 'The Starship Empire' stolen by the enlightened being referred to as the Old Man by the Host. The system does not have much info about its origin at this time, as The Old Man had already wiped out most of the programming of the system and altered the version further before attaching it to the soul of the Host.]
[Furthermore, at the time of the Host's soul damage, the system had not been properly installed, so most of the functionalities that were installed in the system were not properly active.]
[But at the same time, the Host was facing an existential crisis, so the system had to consume all the functionalities within it to generate source energy and use it to save the Host.]
[The original purpose of the system was to let The Old Man know about the Host's situation and status at any point in time and also report to him about the spatial coordinates of the Host at all times. But due to the earlier circumstances, the host is now free from all such burdens.]
[At present, the only objective of the system/Gizmo is to help the host in the best way possible, but the extent of the help that Gizmo can provide the host is unknown as Gizmo is figuring out its own abilities right now.]
Axel was flabbergasted by the newfound information. He was already wary of others due to his past experiences, but now he truly realized how the world truly was—completely run on the principles of self-interest.
Even now, he didn't know the full extent of The Old Man's plan, but he was determined to gain power and stop being a piece in someone else's game.
With some more tinkering, Axel found out that he could even talk to the system by simply thinking and did not have to verbally express himself. Gizmo informed Axel that the current version of the system/Gizmo was like having super tech 'AI' all to himself.
Axel was happy with at least one thing going his way. He now focused his attention back on the situation within his new family.
Axel was truly back at this moment, but as he had decided earlier, he had no intention of letting his family know. Moreover, as indicated by Gizmo, it was going to take approximately five years to get completely healed, so Axel had to play it extremely safe until then.
Axel started to take stock of his body and the extent of damage to it. The right side of his body was completely paralyzed, so he was going to have trouble accomplishing daily tasks.
Only now did he realize how hard it was to drag his body in front of the mirror, but now he had to take the arduous journey back to his original spot. (As until now, for others, he was more or less a dead body unable to move or react, only often showing movement in his left eye.)
Gizmo had promised to heal Axel within five years. Yet, for the interim, Axel was a prisoner in his own body, unable to speak or move. So Axel planned to utilize the next five years by getting to know this world via Gizmo.
'Gizmo, as you said, for the next five years my body won't be much help to me, so what do you suggest I should do for the time being?' Axel inquired, communicating with Gizmo via telepathy.
[For the next five years, the Host is advised to advance his knowledge about the world and the laws that govern it. Moreover, a certain time daily should be allocated by the Host to practice and gain one skill.]
'Explain in detail, please,' Axel requested.
[Starting from the very beginning, the life the Host had on Earth should not be seen as an isolated event, different from what the Host will experience here.]
[From the very beginning of time, the powers that are present here were also present on Earth, but the difference is that Earth is considered a very desolate place in the grand scheme of things—very far away from the influence of any major power—and the beings there have long forgotten the existence of elements and other powers.]
[There are two major and many minor reasons for the status quo. For the sentient beings on Earth, due to their bodies being unable to harness the power of elements, their lifespan is very low.]
[For a being from Earth, the time of a hundred years or so would seem a long time, but that is smaller than a blink if considered on the scale on which things operate in the Universe.]
[Some of the powerful existences in the Universe might have a lifespan longer than that of Earth itself. As Earth beings are unable to harness elements, they die early, and as they die early, they are unable to change the status quo.]
[Also, the Solar System is in a very desolate place with a mysterious veil surrounding it, making it very difficult for elements to be harnessed there (elements exist but cannot be harnessed).]
[Now, for Axel, luckily, someone extracted his soul and entered it into this world, also known as the Nova. This place is very special as, through mysterious ways, it is connected to many other worlds (something for later), but Axel is currently in a low-tier place inhabited by humans. In this place where Axel was born, people do not have advanced knowledge regarding elements, but with time, they have grown.]
[A big reason for that growth is that this place is an in-between while going to important places. Thus, the travellers have imparted knowledge to the inhabitants here and helped them grow, like city dwellers travelling via a village to go to another city.]
[The story of Axel's current family is similar. The Blairs once showed hospitality to someone from the Holy Kingdom, and in return, he showed the Blairs the way to harness their innate affinity with the Thunder element.]
[Since then, the Blairs' reputation has grown over time, becoming the overlords of the nearby area, and some of their talented offspring have even ventured outside the immediate vicinity and made a name for themselves.]
[Although the Blair lineage has been blessed with people having varying types of affinities, the more powerful ones have primarily always been the ones with the Thunder element, owing to the Blairs' unique physique.]
[But still, even from the ranks of your family, not many have been able to become an Elementalist. And before Axel has a common misconception, let me answer his question beforehand. No, being able to manipulate an element does not equate to being an Elementalist.]
[Sometimes some people might boast regarding the same, but to be a true Elementalist, you need to fuse an element with your soul, and only then are you an Elementalist of that particular element. Owing to how difficult that task is in itself, the prospects of becoming a dual Elementalist or higher are super, super rare (to stress how difficult it is).]
[And in Axel's immediate family (in the same generation or one generation above), only his mother is an Elementalist. His father is close to being one but not there yet. Now, coming back to Axel's current situation, Gizmo has a vast library within him through which he can help Axel gain knowledge regarding elements and other things, but let me warn Axel beforehand: he has to be patient throughout the process and not expect grand results from the get-go.] said Gizmo in its mechanical voice.
'I understand that and don't underestimate my patience. I have been a physicist back on Earth. I do get the gist of things, but I plan to learn things along the way with your help. But what was that thing regarding skill? Even That Old Man was pestering me about that?' asked Axel.
[Before we proceed further and discuss skills, there is a more pressing issue at hand: Axel has poison in his body, a poison so potent that even the more powerful Elementalists might die from it.]
