The ornate carriage that was clammering down the road had a intricate insignia on the side of it. This perplexed Rolver as when he was younger he was part of a noble family and this had to learn of all the nobles and leaders of the continent and this symbol belonged to none of them. Now, the reason that Rolver isn't up in a mansion in his family's territory is because his family fell into ruin after being invaded by another noble family. So, either he thought that it was a noble from another country which wouldn't make sense because they had no guards with them or it was a fairly new noble family which would make more sense. So, not wanting to cause trouble he corralled young Abraham into the house.
The carriage however came to a stop in this village and three people got off of it. Then they approached the door of Rolver's and Abraham's home and knocked a few times. Rolver opened the door and said nothing to the few people. The three individuals were a young female around Abraham's age, a middle aged man who seemed to be the girls father, and a man that was dressed as the coachman of the carriage.
The middle aged man said rather inquisitively "I am just passing through this territory after visiting the owner of this land and noticed how ravaged it is. May I inquire as to what might have happened?"
Rolver responded with "A few years back we were attacked by bandits so, many of us died, then others died of illness and now us two are the only ones left" he said as he didn't want to alert the people of his criminal past.
"Hmm. Alright. May I ask that we stay here for tonight and then be on our way tomorrow?" the middle aged man said with a doubtful voice.
Rolver not wanting to offend the likely noble man said "Of course. You may rest here for the night". So, all went well and good until Rolver fell asleep for the night.
Little after Rolver fell asleep, Abraham went to bed and feigned sleep as he was fairly suspicious of the three strangers. With a million thoughts running through his head with many focusing on why someone with such an expensive looking carriage would have no guards and then he came to the conclusion that the people simply didn't need them. A few minutes later he felt something prick his neck and went to swat at it and he felt something solid. He then looked at what pricked his neck and saw the young girl. Then as is natural when someone bites you he screams.
This rouses Rolver from his slumber and he instantly grabbed his blade. He then saw what was happy and said "You three are vampires aren't you" with a sigh as he realized he couldn't trust anything in this world and prepared for a fight.
The two other vampire men also got ready to fight and said "If only the youngin had stayed asleep you two would've woke up happy tomorrow" with a very serious look on their faces.
Despite Rolver's best efforts he simply couldn't overcome the two physically superior vampires in the dark and he was felled. Now as Abraham had spent the last six years of his life with Rolver this was tragic to him. He began to cry and in English he said "You fucking bloodsuckers living off the lives of others. You are merely leeches off of society" as his speech in the common tongue of this land wasn't very good.
The vampires much to Abraham's surprise understood his speech and the middle aged man said "How do you know that language? It is from a continent far, far away from here and from hundreds of years ago." The fact that the boy knew an ancient lost language intrigued them.
"And you" he said while pointing to the young girl and followed up with "Why did you have to go and bite me? It's all your fault. Also how could you resort to such brutish means."
The young vampire girl seemingly offended said "I was hungry so I took a bite". The other two vampires recovering from the brief shock began creeping closer to the boy with their swords drawn. The girl then also said "Wait don't kill him. We'll make him a slave to pay for the words he's said". The vampires then knocked out the boy and took their fill of blood from Rolver's fresh corpse and then hopped into the carriage with the boy layed out on one of the seats inside as they begun to head towards their mansion in another country.
