Chapter 1 - Why Now?

Jack looked at the screen in front of him with a frown on his face. "Have I awakened a system? But why now? Why so late?" he thought.

[Name - Jack

Age - 21

Money - Infinite]

[Withdraw Money]

"Infinite money?" Jack frowned and clicked on the "Withdraw Money" panel.

He had transmigrated to this place about ten years ago. At that time, he was an orphan, and through sheer determination and knowledge from his previous world, he had finally managed to enter a cultivation sect.

Yes, the world he had transmigrated to was no ordinary world—it was a cultivation world, like the ones he used to read about in his previous life.

But it was a cruel one, unlike the harmonious sects he had read about, where rules governed everything. This sect was different—not quite a demonic sect, but not far from it. Here, only the powerful survived. If you were weak and something happened to you, it was your fault for being so weak.

Moral values were twisted in this world; the weak were considered nothing more than fodder for the powerful.

But Jack didn't care about that right now. Sitting in his outer sect cave, he stared at the system.

"An infinite money system, huh? So I can get money from this?" he murmured. Although it wasn't a powerful system like an upgrade system or a weapons system, money was still supreme.

And Jack believed in the power of money more than anything. Although this world was ruled by strength, money was a kind of strength too.

And the strength of money worked everywhere.

"Let me see how I can use it," he said and clicked on the "Withdraw Money" icon.

[Host has currently identified four types of currencies. Select one to withdraw:]

[1. Copper Coins

2. Silver Coins

3. Gold Coins

4. Low Grade Spirit Stones]

Jack saw the four options, and a frown appeared on his face.

There were four currency options: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Low Grade Spirit Stones. He knew these were the currencies used in the Red Iron Sect.

And he had used them before.

But he also knew there were Mid Grade Spirit Stones and High Grade Spirit Stones that could be used as currencies. So why weren't they listed here?

He was confused.

"Could it be that I have to use one myself before it registers in the system?" Jack thought, and an enlightened expression appeared on his face.

He had previously used Copper, Silver, Gold, and Low Grade Spirit Stones, but he had never used Mid Grade or High Grade Spirit Stones in his life.

"That must be the case. I'll have to use them in the future to confirm my suspicions, but for now, let me test this," he thought. With a slight nod, he pressed on "Low Grade Spirit Stones."

They were the most valuable currency he could withdraw, so naturally, he clicked on that option.

Low Grade Spirit Stones were the main currency used in the outer sect for most items. You could buy almost anything if you had enough of them.

Taking a deep breath, he clicked, and another panel appeared in front of him.

[Please enter an amount you want to withdraw.]

There was a blank space in the panel where he needed to input the amount of money he wanted to withdraw, but there was no keyboard.

"How do I enter an amount without a keyboard?" A frown appeared on his face.

He tried clicking some words, but nothing worked.

"What is this? How do I withdraw money? Is it a dud system?" he thought as his expression turned sour.

But suddenly, an enlightened expression appeared on his face. "Will it work if I think of an amount?" he wondered and took a deep breath.

"I want ten Low Grade Spirit Stones," he murmured. As if waiting for his command, the number "10" appeared in the blank space.

A smile suddenly formed on Jack's face when he saw the number.

The "Withdraw" button, which had been gray until now, suddenly turned blue, and Jack quickly clicked on it.

Tick… Tick… Tick…

Suddenly, ten Low Grade Spirit Stones fell to the ground one by one through the panel.

Jack looked at the shiny stones on the cave floor, and his eyes widened in shock. Although he had expected this, it still felt exhilarating.

He felt like he had suddenly gone from a beggar to a king. The feeling was indescribable.

Gulping down his saliva, he picked up one of the stones and examined it.

"It's real!" He almost let out a maniacal laugh. He was overjoyed with the discovery. He had never imagined he would get a system in his life, and now that it was here, he felt like his entire world had changed.

Collecting all of the ten low grade Spirit Stones he placed then in a small personal bag. This was not a magical space bag that many used in sect.

Since Jack had joined the sect only a month ago he didn't had enough wealth to buy a space bag, this was a normal bag that he used to store his items.

He took in a deep breath and looked at the screen in front of him again. His heart beating in excitement.

'This could change my life.' A smile formed on his face and he withdrew a hundred Silver Coins.

Since he has transmigrated to this world, he has been living frugally, only spending money on cultivation resources.

His frugal nature was the reason why he was at Bone Refinement Level One at the age of twenty one. This was the minimum cultivation realm required to join the Red Iron Sect.

But now since he has awakened a system, he wanted to naturally indulge in pleasures of world a bit.

Cultivation Realm were divided into many realms. First one was Skin Refinement after that it was Muscle Refinement and then came Bone Refinement.

After Bone Refinement came Marrow Refinement and after that Spirit Refinement.

And lastly there was core formation.

Jack doesn't know anything above Core Formation Realm, as even the Sect Leader of Red Iron Sect was at Level three Core Formation Realm.

Pacing the Silver Coins in a new bag, he stepped out of the cave. Currently he was on second peak of outer sect, and since he was a new disciple, his cave was on the lower end of the peak.

It didn't take him much time to step down from the peak, and after about ten minutes of travel he was in the Red Iron City.

With infinite money for his expenditure he felt a new but strange sense of freedom that he has never felt before.

He felt powerful!

But soon the reality settled in and he realised that he was not powerful enough. Although he has inextinguishable money under his disposal, he didn't have enough strength to protect his money.

If he went around flaunting money then he would be just a foolish lamb waiting to be butchered.

This world was not like earth, which was governed by laws. This was a dog eat dog world.

"I have to be careful spending money or it can cause problems if someone evil sets their gaze on me." He thought and decided to be careful.

Soon he was in the main city, unlike the sect peaks which were filled with Cultivators, this place was mostly home to mortals that can't cultivate.

Ninety percent of the people here were mortals, only ten percent were cultivators.

In these ten percent most were like Jack, they came here to enjoy worldly pleasures. The remaining ones were retired Cultivators that didn't accomplish much in the sect so they gave up on path of cultivation and decided to live a mundane existence.

Jack took in his surroundings and a slight smile tugged on his lips.

This place was like a different world compared to the serene and silent atmosphere of sect.

The city was filled with hubhub, there were many shops, restaurants and hotels. Most of them were owned by mortals.

Jack was not interested in any of the shops here. He knew that there was a part of the city where only cultivators resided. And it was called immortal market.

He took in a deep breath and headed towards that place.

And only after walking for ten minutes he reached the place, and just as he did so he could sense many different cultivators roaming about everywhere.

There were many shops related to immortals here. Like weapons shops, spirit food resturant and there were even martail skill shops.

Jack smiled looking at the crowd and then moved towards one of the clothing shops.

He knew that if he wanted to spend some money without getting in much trouble he would have to dress like it.

If he went in a spirit food resturant wearing shabby chothes then he was bound to be stopped and even bullied. He didn't want too much attention on him.

Reaching a clothing shop, he stood in front of it. It was a big store, two stories high. The shop were filled with many cultivators buying clothes. Most of them were girls and there were some men too.

He nodded and moved in.
