Chapter 12 - Summoning a New Unit

I don't hesitate. The need for help—whether it's to gather resources or add to my defense—is growing stronger. Summoning a unit seems like the best choice right now.

I tap the option for Summon Unit. The system responds immediately, and the air around me crackles with energy.

[Summon Unit]

Cost: 50 Gold

Unit Type: Worker or Guard?

---

The screen asks me for a choice: Worker or Guard. I know that Aric is already fulfilling the guard role, but a worker could help with gathering resources, building, and managing the land.

I consider it for a moment.

[Summon Worker: 50 Gold]

[Summon Guard: 50 Gold]

---

I need someone who can gather resources quickly, so I choose the Worker. The system chimes, confirming the choice, and once again, the air around me shimmers. The ground trembles slightly as if the world itself is adjusting to this new arrival.

---

Suddenly, a figure materializes in front of me. A woman, dressed in simple yet practical clothes, with tools hanging from her belt. She looks around, blinking as if adjusting to her new surroundings. Her eyes meet mine, and there's a spark of curiosity in them.

---

"Where am I?" she asks, her voice strong but uncertain. "Who... summoned me?"

I take a step forward. "I did," I answer, feeling the weight of responsibility settle on my shoulders. "I'm Darius, and you've been summoned to help me. You'll be a worker. Gather resources, build, whatever's needed. Can you do that?"

The woman tilts her head thoughtfully, then nods. "I can. You summoned me. I will do as you ask."

I pause, considering the moment. She's not just a random worker—she's another person now, in this world. A partner in my struggle.

"I'll call you Lira," I say. It feels right. "Lira, welcome."

She smiles slightly, a faint spark of warmth in her eyes. "Thank you. Lira, I will serve you well, Darius."

---

[Summon Unit: Lira (Worker)]

Gold Remaining: 0

New Mission: Assign Tasks to Lira or Continue Building

---

Lira stands ready, waiting for her instructions. I've got no more gold for now, but at least I've got another pair of hands to help build and gather. I've got the manpower I need, and the shelter will grow stronger, faster with her assistance.
