Chapter 194 - Chapter 194: Not a Threat, but a Sincere Invitation

Shawn let go.

Spencer landed on the ground with a thud.

Without time to alleviate the burning pain in his backside, Spencer clutched his neck with both hands, coughing and struggling to breathe.

Tears and saliva streamed down his face, either from the momentary suffocation or from being terrified by the threat of death.

His face flushed red, and he looked up, meeting Shawn's gaze as he looked down on him.

A chill ran down his spine, and Spencer struggled to crawl behind Diana, using both his hands and feet, no longer daring to utter another word.

"A bully who picks on the weak."

Shawn sneered unreservedly, then looked at Diana and her husband.

"I'm serious, you can start considering replacing him right now."

"If I had a guy like that in my Camp, I'd personally hang him at the gate for three days and three nights."

How important is the combat team? How can a coward take over?

Look at the Prison; that's an 'army' led by Shane, absolutely incomparable to a third-rate character like Spencer.

For instance, in that situation just now, Shane would have tried to break free as quickly as possible, even if it meant biting or spitting.

Unlike Spencer, who would only cry and wait for death.

Prison Army Leader, Warden's Deputy, Shane.

Upon hearing Shawn's words, a flash of awkwardness crossed Diana and her husband's faces; after all, Spencer had attacked first, so they couldn't say much, only sighing in disappointment as they watched Spencer get up from the ground.

In truth, if the Crown Prince of the Prison was Carl, Shawn's biological son who might be born in the future.

Then the Crown Prince of Alexandria was the Spencer before them and his older brother, Diana's eldest son, Aiden.

But unfortunately, Diana and the Community protected them too well.

This resulted in the eldest son being a cowardly scoundrel who feared death, and the second son being a softie who bullied the weak.

As a manager, Diana's ability to keep her Community members safe for so long, aside from luck, should not be overlooked.

However, as an educator, Diana was undoubtedly a failure.

"Spencer, I need you to leave here immediately!"

Diana spoke in a cold voice, without looking back.

"He almost killed me, are you just going to stand there and watch?"

Facing Spencer's questioning, Diana closed her eyes, the bulging veins in her neck making it easy to guess that she was on the verge of exploding.

"Leave!!"

The second generation always seeks refuge under the wings of their elders, so when Spencer heard Diana's tone at that moment, he immediately tucked his tail between his legs and ran out.

It wasn't until Spencer left the office and silence returned that Diana apologized to Shawn again.

"I'm sorry, I didn't discipline him well."

"I didn't have him in my sights," Shawn stated bluntly, "What I care about, from beginning to end, is only you and your people."

"Us?"

Reggie spoke, a little confused.

Shawn leaned back in the middle of the sofa, spreading his hands, with Daryl and the others standing behind him.

"As I just said, I come from a survivor Camp that is an impregnable fortress, easy to defend and difficult to attack."

"I am not here to destroy your home, but to extend a sincere invitation to you."

"Diana, you must bring Alexandria to join my ranks!"

"I will lead you down a path of survival unlike anything you've ever known!"

As Shawn's words fell, Diana and Reggie exchanged glances, their first thought being to refuse.

They could find enough food here, and now the high walls had been erected; everything they had was here, in Alexandria, so why would they need to follow Shawn all the way to Georgia?

Not to mention, they had known Shawn for less than half an hour in total; he was a stranger to them, so how could they trust him so easily?

Seeing that Reggie shared her thoughts, Diana considered it for a moment and replied.

"Shawn, you and your people are indeed very powerful."

"To be frank, you are exactly the talent our Community needs most right now."

"But for us to join you..."

Diana slightly drew out her words, not finishing the sentence, but the implied meaning was clear.

Diana refused, and Shawn was not surprised.

Everything about the Prison was unknown to them.

Better to stay put than to move rashly.

This saying applies to funds and stocks, and it also applies to the situation Alexandria is in.

By not joining the Prison, Alexandria at least still has ample food and threats other than Shawn and his people.

If they joined the Prison, who knew what they would encounter along the way? And how would they be treated after arriving at the Prison?

Adhering to the human instinct to seek good fortune and avoid disaster, Diana and her husband hardly thought twice before indirectly rejecting Shawn's invitation.

"Don't rush to make a decision, my invitation is valid indefinitely," Shawn said slowly.

"Besides, after this encounter, you must have learned some lessons, right?"

"Alexandria is not as impregnable as you imagine, and I can even tell you directly that Alexandria's high walls are meaningless to us."

"If I want, I can come in during the day, and I can come in at night."

"I can silently reach your office, and I can silently approach your bedside."

Diana's expression was not good; she thought Shawn was threatening her.

As if sensing Diana's thoughts, Shawn explained.

"Don't worry, you're not that important to me that I'd have to sneak in in the middle of the night."

"I am merely presenting all possible scenarios to you."

"Don't underestimate anyone; if we can sneak in silently, then others certainly can too."

"I must say, your luck is truly good, as fortunate as a cat with nine lives, to have been sent to such a place at the beginning of the apocalypse."

"But believe me, VIPs always expire someday; your management system is no less than boiling a frog slowly, eroding the residents' fighting spirit and everything they should have learned."

"When everything is about to come... Bang--!"

Shawn spread his five fingers, making an 'explosion' gesture, and stared at Diana, grinning.

"In an instant, in the blink of an eye, everything happens so quickly."

"I've seen too many people who walked down a dead end, and they often ended up having to lose things while walking back."

"Those with good luck can still get back on track."

"But if their luck is bad, they might even lose themselves on the return journey."

"Of course, this is my last reminder to you, Diana."

"I am not threatening you; I am always saving you and your family, and the entire Alexandria, nothing more."

"For the next few days, my people and I will stay within the Community's activity range, so you don't need to rush to make a decision."

"I await your change of heart at any time."
