Chapter 7 - An Unexpected Gift-1

Raymond fell on his knees, panting as his bloodied chest heaved up and down. He couldn't believe it, he was so close to death.

Haa haa

He closed his eyes for a moment to gather himself. Though, as the adrenaline wore off the pain flared even brighter than before.

Opening his eyes, he looked at himself. A sour expression came upon his face. Blood flowed out of his chest like water, staining the ground in an unsightly crimson colour.

There were multiple bruises and cuts, on his arms and body while a slight trail of blood flowed from his head continuously. Moreover, his back felt like someone had whipped in the same place hundreds of times.

In short, he was in serious pain. If not for experiencing an even greater pain at the time of talent merge. He was sure…he couldn't have handled himself against that lizard.

"I look like shit." He said. Then as if remembering something, he looked at his surroundings.

His head jerked towards all the sides as he glanced at the forest. He didn't want anything to sneak up on him again.

"I should…move. The monster will be attracted to all the blood here but first let's heal." He said standing up.

"Absolute Heal." The words left his mouth, as he tapped into his abilities. Immediately, a surreal almost holy green glow enveloped his entire body.

The wounds on his body healed, as the cuts stitched back together vanishing like they were never there, the bruises on his body faded completely while the largest gash on his chest also knitted back.

As the glow on his body dimmed, he looked at himself once again. It was as if he had never fought with the monsters to begin.

His body was in perfect and pristine condition. A chuckle left his mouth involuntarily.

[Absolute Heal- Able to heal any kind of injury no matter how worse it is once a day, unless the host is not dead.

Cooldown- 24 hours.]

"Truly an overpowered ability." He spoke thinking that only he could use it more than once a day.

However he quickly left the idea, as he realised he was just being greedy. People here would kill, for having an ability like this after all, it's basically like having an extra life.

Who wouldn't want that safety?

Shaking his head, he quickly moved towards the corpses of the lizard he had killed. Exhaustion marked each step as he pulled out his sword from the beast corpse.

Although, Absolute Heal healed his injuries. It didn't replenish his stamina or mana. Neither it removed exhaustion or mental burden.

Thus, both his mind and body needed rest…

Gripping his sword lightly, he looked at the lizard's corpse or rather what was left of it spilling out from under the tree.

Bile rose from his stomach as the stench of blood and flesh hit his nose. However he controlled it knowing he would have to get used to it.

"Ah, I can't move the tree…too exhausted for that. Let's just take the core of the previous lizard." Saying he moved towards the previous lizard which had its neck pierced.

Then, he proceeded to cut open the beast's stomach to find its core and this time he couldn't hold it in.

Turning away from the monster innards, he hurled at the side. He couldn't help it, as a normal human from earth he hadn't done something so gruesome ever.

After emptying his stomach, he took heavy breaths and quickly brought out a bottle of water from his storage ring and drank it.

The cool liquid calmed his heart. Then after taking some deep breaths he finally moved to take out the monster energy core.

"Ugh, so dirty."

The morning light seeped into the room as faint shadows spilled into his room. The birds chirped happily outside welcoming the cool morning.

Raymond's azure eyes twitched open. Waking up he found himself staring at the same ceiling from tomorrow.

"Ah, so all this isn't a dream." He muttered, pushing his body up from the warm embrace of the bed. He yawned, stretching his body as the bones popped back with a distinct sound.

Just then the stench of blood hit his nose, he frowned looking at his body. It was covered in blood, some of his own while some of the lizard.

Seeing it, he remembered that from the exhaustion. He had hit the bed immediately without even bothering to take a shower or change his clothes.

"Tsk, it's even making the whole room smell of blood." He quickly stood up from the bed and moved towards the window of the room and opened it.

Then, he promptly moved towards his bathroom. Cold water fell on head making his thoughts clear and chasing away the remnants of sleep.

Flashes of what happened at night appeared in his mind reminding him once again of his new reality.

Finishing the shower, he exited the bathroom. He then moved towards the closet where his clothes were kept.

Apparently, there weren't many clothes to choose from without a need to say. Raymond was dirt poor. Thus, he took out a worn white shirt and a black trousers with withered golden etching on it from the closet.

Wearing them, he folded the sleeves of his shirt and stood in front of the mirror. In the reflection, stood a boy with black hair that looked like the midnight sky while azure pupils stared back at him.

"What a ridiculous face." Raymond couldn't help but comment.

His face was really something…sharp jawline, high cheekbones, clear skin. It was as if his old Raymond was given an extraordinary face for his lack of talent.

"No, wonder this guy got bullied." He shook his head lightly. However, just then the system chime echoed in his mind.

He clicked open the message with a simple thought as a translucent screen appeared in front of his eyes.

[Congratulations host, you have spent 24 hours and have successfully integrated into this world…

A message has been left for you by ????. Would you like to open it?]

"Hm, a message? Is it from whoever transmigrated me into this world?" Raymond muttered as he thought about it.

Though after not getting towards anything he shrugged and decided to see what was the message.

With that he clicked open.

The window changed as the words appeared on it.

[Greetings Alex…of the other world or maybe i should say Raymond now. I know you might have many questions about your transmigration however right now…I can't answer you.

As abrupt as it may be, you were the best choice for it. I hope you will accomplish your perfect ending and bring a balance to this chaotic world. It will be hard, I know , however I trust you have the capability for it.

Also unfortunately, from this moment on I won't be of any help to you. However as a parting gift, you can take any three items from your original inventory.

Now atlast…a warning. This world although you may have knowledge about many things in this world from the game. Always remember it, this is a real world similar to your earth.

There will be changes even you can't predict, rather your simple presence is the biggest change. Always be alert and cautious…strive to grow stronger and bring change.

I hope you will succeed and save them all.]

"..." Raymond remained silent as he read the whole message, leaving whatever divine being they were.

He had thought he might have some of his answers but no, all he got was just some bullshit. Heck, that being even had the audacity to say that they can't help him after transmigrating him into this world.

Anger boiled inside him however he calmed himself down with an annoyed sigh.

There was no point in it, what could he do to a being who had the power to transmigrate him from one world to another when he almost died against the low ranked monster last night.

Thus begrudgingly he stopped thinking about it and just focused on the specific one line in the message.

He can take three items from his inventory. How wonderful it was.

He can't help but be excited and laugh a little at it. As a veteran, he had many things in his inventory that the other players of the game hadn't even seen.

Heck, he can guarantee that of all the players that ever had played the game he had the best inventory.

"Haha, should I take out the Sigrised's sword? or maybe my grand dragon armour?" He said however then quickly realised that these things to be honest weren't of much use to him at the beginning.

Heck, even touching that sword at this level might kill him instantaneously. Thus calming his excitement and he began to ponder deeply about what could be useful for him at this moment.

After five minutes, he spoke up.

"Okay, system I have decided."

The system window once again materialized as he spoke up.

[Please tell the name of the artifact or the item the host wants.]
