Mom and I go out the door followed by dad and my brother. We all go out of the gate of our home which is a fairly decent sized house. I think to myself that I am fortunate to have a family that loves me and that I am talented in magic.
"Hey sweetie what do you think so far?" Mom asked.
I look around amazed. "Waaaa kew!" I say.
Brother quips in and says " Cool right?"
"Yesh," I said. Then I hear dad quietly chuckle.
We continue to walk down the road away from home.
A lady comes up to us and says "what an adorable little girl is it her birthday today?"
"Yes." Mom replied. I noticed that she was kind of aloof with this lady who was talking to us.
"She looks like a little doll baby!" The lady squealed.
I look at my mom. " Ma ma wa wa?" I ask.
Mom looks at me and nods.
I conjure up a couple of floating water orbs. The chatty lady looks at me with amazement. The moment she shuts up I float the orbs over her head then pop she gets soaked.
"Ahhh! Little brat just soaked me!" The lady shrieks.
"Hahahahaha oh my little Ebony doesn't like chatty people." Mom said to her.
The lady runs off. I just giggle at her because the way she was running looks so comical.
Mom looks like she's going to laugh herself to death but she holds herself back.
We continue through town until we can see a bunch of tents set up in the town center. We also see men and women in robes of various colors on in front of the tents.
"Hello ma'am." a gentleman in a white robe says to my mother.
"Hello sir my daughter is here to be tested for her mana core and talents." Mom says with a smile.
"Please follow me with the child." The man in white says. He leads us to one of the tents. Inside there is a table with a device on it with two chairs on both sides of the table. "Please sit with the young one ma'am." He instructed her. "Have the child touch the device on the table with her hand." He says in a bored tone of voice.
Mom moves to sit down at the table and let me reach out for the device on the table as I touch it the whole tent lights up in a golden light. I hear gasps all around me. The man is staring at me with a shocked face so is the rest of my little family. I glance around wondering if I did anything wrong. "Mama?" I say.
My mom's expression changes from one of shock to one of extreme happiness. "My baby is a genius and a golden core mage!" She exclaims. Then she reaches out and pulls me into her arms.
The man regains his voice and says pretty much the same thing as my mom does but with a bit of reverence. "I'm honored that a golden core mage has been found in my presence. I've never had such an honor before." He says with tears in his eyes.
I start wondering what could having a golden core mean. I start to think that I won't have such an easy life even though I have a golden core.
"You may go and collect a few things from the other tents but let me send word to them first because of the results of the test. They may ask you what color of her core is and that is going to cause a stir around the area. Do you wish that this is handled discreetly or would you like it to be known?" He asks mom.
Mom looks at me and says, " Let it be known that the Bleakbeak family has produced a prodigy." I just stare at mom with a shocked expression on my face but no one else looks at me to ask my opinion.
I look at my brother but he's got a dark expression on his face like he wants to kill me. I shiver and mom looks down at me and asks. "Are you tired sweetheart?" I shake my head no as an answer. "Walk?" I ask instead.
Mom puts me down on the ground to walk and I walk up to my brother and grab his hand and make my hand glow sharing my power with him. Mom looks at us shocked and asks the gentleman what's happening.
"Ma'am she is helping your son form his mana core. Though we may have to keep an eye on him because of his age and it look like his health is not very good. I suggest that you allow us to take the young sir with us to the academy of magic in order to monitor his condition and provide him with any care he might require for a successful recovery and formation of his core."
Mom continues to look at us as she is trying to get to read on my brother's core. "Test him first before you decide to whisk him away from his precious little sister." Mom says.
"Yes ma'am we will test your son again once his sister lets go of his hand." He says to calm mother.
Mom seems the be in a mood. Soon I start to feel sleepy so I let go of brother's hand and then he is whisked over to the device and then he touches it his color is green again the gentleman is shocked.
"Ma'am he awakened as a nature mage!" He shouts. I look up and over to the gentleman and tilt my head as to ask what a nature mage is.
My father tears up and hugs both me and my brother and says, "both of my children are very powerful mages!" He exclaims. Mom looks at us with tears in her eyes too. I notice that she is smiling as well.
"Mama?" I say. I start to feel drowsy again and I feel dad picking me up.
"You did good princess." Dad says before I drift off to sleep. "Honey I think we need to take the kids home to rest. Even Jace looks tired for some reason."
"Let's return home." Mom says.

I wake up in my familiar bedroom. I soon begin to wonder what else happened yesterday.
"Bru da? Ish bru da otay?" I wonder out loud. "Bru da?" I call out. I fly out of my room in my pajamas and go to my brother's room. I hear my parents in his room talking in hushed voices.
"Is my bru da otay?"I asked when I entered.
My parents looked at me and nod.
"Of course he's okay sweetheart. He just has a fever. He will be better soon." Mom says.
"Honey go back to you room please." Dad said. My face fell. I walked back to my room with my head down and thinking that I had done something wrong. I started to cry because I thought I had unintentionally harmed my precious brother.
