I waited till he was done and stealthy walked towards the cold storage. I grabbed a blood bag on the way to my room. I locked the door before I drank the entire bag. I sat down to learn what this person had to teach me. She was a mechanic so repairing vehicles was her specialty. I sat down memorized how to fix every vehicle she has worked with and everything she was taught to fix.
When I was done I walked to an empty room. I started to make shift obstacle course. I decided one more round of echolocation is necessary. I closed my eyes and wrapped a bandana over my eyes to make sure I wasn't cheating. I send a wave of sound and it bounced off the objects and came to me. I was able to mentally visualize the size of the object and how far it was from me as well. It was an accurate three dimensional imagine. I was able to walk past them with no problem. Then I rearranged everything tried again a few more times. Then I restored everything to where they were and went back to my room. The entire time I was blindfolded and was using Echolocation.
I removed the bandana and sat on the balcony to watch the stars. I decided that I am going to fly. I made myself invisible and flew as fast I could. I stopped by the Bilyk family's RV and saw that Victor was being evicted from the RV. The women were moving elsewhere and they are not taking him with them. He is going to stay with one of his friends. They watched as he left with a guy sporting a mohawk. I smiled at the thought of staying with them. The women sold the RV and got themselves an apartment near city hall. These apartments come with a fire escape. I flew back home and spend the night on listening to tutorials back to back.
The next morning I felt my father leave for work and I came down for breakfast. I took a deep breath and heard the voice of everyone in the city end to end. I heard their voices separately so it wasn't like the first time I used my super hearing. That time I was bombarded from every direction. This time it was like I was hopping from building to building as I eavesdropped on the latest gossip. I used echolocation by accident and it amplified the conversations even more. It felt like I was having breakfast with the entire city.
I spend most of my holidays practicing whatever I could think of whenever possible. Other than that I spent my spare time with the staff. They were extremely nice. Some nights I even researched what the comics and what loonies say vampires can do and tried to see if I could those as well. I learned to turn into a bat, track people by their heart beat, find people by their scent, identify people by using Echolocation, identifying and tracking people who are bleeding. Also which places are deadly for me so I know which places to avoid. I made sure these new abilities can be used at a moments notice. Finally it was time to go back to the academy.
Annie and the others were waiting for me. They hugged me welcome as Winston unloaded my stuff. I carried my luggage upstairs and saw that Cain was now working as part of security. He smiled at me as I went upstairs. I lowered my head as a sign of respect and his smile grew brightener.
Class resumed as though nothing had happened. The government declared that they have created a vaccine that was better than before People were volunteering to prove the vaccine was safe. There was not much report about what happened to them after the medicine was administered. I knew that things will get ugly. There was nothing I could do except move forward. I sat down in my seat and zoned out when the teacher started her lecture. When the bell rang we walked single file to our next class.
After classes were over I went upstairs and opened the TV. It said breaking news. The government was holding a press conference. The new vaccine didn't work. People who got it died a few days after. Also some of the zombies managed to escape the purge so they are multiplying. So the CDC officials were giving an update on the zombie situation. I mean seriously if anyone had told me a few months ago that we would be holding press conference for zombies I would laugh till I peed. But this was serious. Their numbers were growing exponentially. The army was dispatched to deal with it but unfortunately they are unable to contain it. The army declared they are trying to box them in. So they can be sanitized. They recommended that people evacuate certain cities to ensure they are not affected by the fall out. I quickly dashed to call a store that specializes in zombie apocalypse.
I called Zoey and she apologized to me. They had almost sold out and more orders were coming by the minute. I asked her to save me one box and that I will pay her in cash. She promised me that if I reach her within the hour she will have it. In case I don't get there in time than that she will sell the package to someone else. I pulled out a pair of winter boots, a few t-shirts, some undies, and other things. I laid them on the bed as I searched for a backpack that was sturdy enough. I packed my laptop first. Then I packed my folded up undies. Next thing I packed was pants and t-shirts. I packed a few shirts, socks and a short too. I packed the winter boot. I picked out two jackets. One went into the backpack. The other I would wear. Next was dress up time.
I wore a black t-shirts, dark gray pants, knee high socks, a pair of running shoes, a hoodie, a leather jacket and a baseball hat. I even went to the academy's hospital wing and grabbed a few medical masks, some gloves, a few sedatives, a lot of gauge, antibiotics, the first aid kit and a blood bag too. When I came back to the dormitory the girls were arriving as well. I told them what was going on and they ran to pack their stuff too. I quickly stuffed everything here and there in my bag to make sure they didn't break or get damaged. I promised to be back in a minute with a specialty kit for this zombie situation. They asked me what to pack. I gave them a list and left.
I reached the outskirts of the city. With much difficulty I got a cab that took me to a place called Al's survival zone. There was a line but when it was my turn I paid in cash. Zoey gave me a big box. Annie called and said she heard that the army will be here for the next round of inspection. I promised to be there before that and hailed the cab. I asked him to take me back to where he picked me up. As soon as he did I ran to the academy as fast as I could. I remembered to take the box with me
The girls were curious about its contents. So I opened it. On the top was a danger whistle. Under it was an instruction manual. Next was a hand crank radio. Next to it was two walkie talkies. Beside it was bag of spare batteries and a small radio. On the other side was two hand crank flashlights, a couple of cleaning gloves and medical gloves. Beside that was a box of medical masks. Under that was a big first aid kit. Under it was a box containing a few bottles of bleach. Under that was a sleeping bag. Under that was two boxes. The first was a box with a few energy bars. The second box was filled with MREs. Otherwise known as Meals Ready to Eat. They have a long shelf life.. But they don't taste very good. I am sure we can fix that. There was a subtle knock on the door. I used X-ray vision. It was the headmistress and some people I have never met.
