A boy, seemingly in his early teens, stood in front of a house. Well, more of a rundown hut than a house, with its walls cracking and roof crumbling.
The air around him stank of the smell of fish and salt, while the road he stood on was riddled with puddles of seawater.
The boy observed his surroundings; everyone here had tattered clothes, heavy with dust and salt clinging to them.
There were a few who dressed nicely, their clothes clean, but they were on the rarer side.
He too was on the rarer side among the people living in this slum. His long silver-white hair was neatly combed, and his clothes, proper compared to the rest, were befitting of a royal.
SIGH
But the boy sighed to himself, shaking his head slightly, 'Well, this doesn't matter now, and I have lived in worse places than this!'
As a demon slayer, he had to travel all around Japan to kill demons and was forced to stay in many more odd places than this.
SIGH
Sighing to himself once more, the boy entered one of the huts, run down, but not so much that it was unlivable.
Entering the hut, with just four rooms, the boy walked into the bedroom, a room on his far right.
The room was dim, only lit by a small candle in the corner.
The boy trained his gaze towards the bed, beside the candle, 'There's something that's different about this life compared to my past ones…'
Walking towards the bed, the boy sat on it, his purple eyes looking at the girl sleeping on it peacefully, 'I have a sister now…'
The boy soon began to caress his sister by her cheek, his gaze softening as he noticed the tear stains around her eyes, 'haaah, looks like she's cried again.'
It has been a week since he was transmigrated as Viserys, and just an hour before he transmigrated, the knight who was taking care of him and his sister died.
'Ser Willem Darry,' Viserys mumbled inwardly, 'the people who followed us and the ones he hired have all turned their backs on us the moment he died, almost rendering us helpless.'
In the original canon, Viserys and Dany would now roam around, hopping from one free city to another, looking for patrons who would help them.
'And he even got himself a nickname,' Viserys mumbled, thinking about the original owner of this body, 'the Beggar King!'
Turning back to his little sister, "I could take back the throne if I wished to," he whispered aloud, "but keeping it is harder than taking it."
"And ... I'm tired of fighting," he added with a weary sigh; in his past life as a demon slayer, he spent as much of his half-life fighting demons, always on the edge, always surrounded by death.
If possible, he wanted to avoid it.
Viserys continued patting his sister, and soon, the princess woke up from her sleep. "Brother…?" Her voice was groggy.
Viserys smiled at her, caressing her stained cheeks; he asked, "Did you cry?"
Dany's eyes widened at his words; she lowered her head in guilt, not thinking that her brother would find out.
SIGH
Viserys sighed out loud at this, pulling her closer; he hugged his little sister, burying her head in his chest, "It's okay, Dany. It's okay…" he whispered.
The princess tightly clutched her brother's shirt with her trembling hands, her eyes moistened as tears rolled down her cheeks, and she began to cry silently in his arms.
She was attached to the dead knight, almost like a father figure to him.
Viserys patted his sister's back, consoling her silently, 'staying here in Braavos is dangerous. There are many eyes on us.'
'They might also try to use Dany…' he mumbled inwardly as an image of a fat nobleman flashed in his mind, 'Illyrio!'
'He also has dragon eggs!' he commented inwardly, although he didn't need dragons to win wars; having them would be better than having none at all.
'It's better to steal them,' Viserys decided, his purple eyes glinting with determination, 'if Dany could hatch them, then it would be helpful.'
Soon, Dany calmed down, but she still hugged her brother, finding it comforting.
"Have you calmed down now?" Viserys asked, looking down at her.
"Mhmm," Dany replied with a hum, tightening her hug around him, causing a smile to bloom on Viserys's lips.
"Dany," he called, "how about we leave Braavos?"
"What?! Why?!" Danh exclaimed aloud in shock as she pulled out of the hug and stared at Viserys with wide eyes.
"We have nothing here, Dany. And soon there will be people coming for us; it's not safe here."
"B-But…." Dany protested; she didn't want to leave, she had some friends here, and also, this was the place where she grew up.
Hanging her head low, she clutched her brother's shirt and mumbled, "I do not want to leave, brother."
SIGH
Viserys sighed; the dragons weren't the only reason he wanted to move, no. He also wanted to train.
As it stands, his body is weak and cannot handle sun breathing. 'Just a swing and my body will take internal injuries!' Viserys mumbled inwardly.
That's why, after stealing the eggs, he wanted to look for an isolated space, probably a forest, where the dragons could grow freely and he could train without any restrictions.
'Haah, I could force her, but….I don't want to.' He mumbled inwardly, and as he thought about a way to convince his little sister, an idea popped into his mind.
"Alright, we will stay," Viserys exclaimed, surprising Dany, but before she could ask anything, "But only if you do not want to hatch dragons!"
"D-Dragons?!" Dany exclaimed, her mouth hanging open. She was always fascinated by dragons and always wondered what they would look like.
"Yes, dragons," Viserys repeated, a sly smile blooming on his face, "The place we are going, they have got dragons, and maybe we could hatch them."
But then, shaking his head, he added, "But then again, just forget about it; you said you wanted to stay after all!"
"No!" Dany yelled at the top of her lungs, her eyes shimmering with excitement, "We're going!"
CHUCKLE
A chuckle escaped Viserys' lips, "Then pack our stuff," he said, "We're going to Pentos…."
