Chapter 30 - Chapter 29: Story

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Zoro shouted as he got up, injured.

"We're here to take Nami back. Haven't you found her yet? Where are Usopp and Johnny?" Luffy asked.

"I don't know where Johnny is. I haven't seen him," Oliver said, getting up with some pain in his right arm.

"Hey, are you okay?" Sanji asked Yosaku, who was among the rubble.

"Usopp! That's right! There's no time to waste!" Zoro said.

"Huh? What happened?" Luffy asked.

"That idiot let himself get captured by Arlong! If we don't hurry…!" Zoro said.

"HE WAS KILLED!!" Johnny screamed as he arrived, crying. "It's too late!"

"Johnny?" Zoro said.

"USOPP-ANIKI WAS KILLED! AND IT WAS NAMI-ANEKI WHO DID IT!" Johnny shouted, leaving everyone stunned—except for Sanji and Oliver.

'He has to be alive. If the same thing happened, then he has to appear after Nami leaves,' Oliver thought.

"Say that one more time!" Luffy shouted, grabbing Johnny by the collar. "And I'll beat the crap out of you!"

"Stop, Luffy! Johnny isn't to blame for this!" Zoro said, trying to stop him.

"Then why are you saying such nonsense?! Nami would never kill Usopp! WE'RE NAKAMA!!" Luffy shouted angrily.

"You don't have to believe me! But I saw it with my own eyes!" Johnny responded, still crying.

At that moment, Nami arrived.

"Nami," Luffy said, looking at her.

"Who are you calling nakama, Luffy?" Nami asked as she looked at them. "What are you all doing here?"

"What do you mean? You're our nakama! We came for you!" Luffy said.

"I never told you to do that. Nakama? Don't make me laugh, you're just a bunch of misfits," Nami said, making Luffy stare at her.

"Nami-san! It's me, remember? Let's travel together!" Sanji said, ignoring the situation.

"Stay out of this, idiot! You're just making things worse!" Zoro shouted, seeing that Sanji didn't seem to care about what was happening.

"What did you say?! Love is a hurricane, you bastard!" Sanji said, nearly starting a fight with Zoro.

"Silence, both of you," Oliver said, still feeling a bit worried.

"Didn't I tell you?! This woman is a witch! She joined Arlong's crew and has killed people without a second thought! Just to monopolize the village and keep the hidden treasure for herself! She's always been a damn black-hearted traitor! She's been deceiving you all this time! I saw her kill Usopp with my own eyes!" Johnny shouted.

"And what are you going to do? Kill me to avenge him?" Nami asked.

"What?!" Johnny was left confused.

"For your information, Arlong is in a murderous rage and wants to kill Oliver and his crew over some stupid thing he did. You might have monstrous strength, but it's still not enough against a real monster," Nami said.

"There's no need to be alarmed over what a fish says. If I did all that on my own, Luffy, Zoro, and the perverted cook can do even more," Oliver said.

"Hey!" Sanji reacted.

'I feel really tired. Maybe I took too much damage from fighting so many Fish-Men, or maybe I hurt my brain… I'll have to buy several Talents to see if I get one that helps me recover faster.'

"Nami, where is Usopp?" Zoro asked while gripping his katana.

"You should look for him at the bottom of the sea," Nami said.

"That's enough, you damn—!" Zoro, now furious, lunged at her, ready to kill.

"No, that's enough from you!" Sanji said, kicking him to stop him.

"Can a swordsman really raise his blade against a lady, Roronoa Zoro?"

"What?! Stay out of this!" Zoro shouted.

"Are you frustrated over your humiliating defeat earlier?" Sanji asked.

"WHAT?! Be careful with what you say, or I'll take your head off!" Zoro threatened, furious that Sanji mentioned his fight against Mihawk.

"This isn't the time to be fighting each other! This is really serious!" Yosaku tried to stop them.

"He's right! If you're going to fight, could you do it off the island? Stop sticking your noses into this! Don't you get it?! I was only with you for your money! Now that you have nothing, I have no interest in you!" Nami started saying.

"I'll give you back the ship, so leave, find another navigator, and then you can go search for the One Piece or whatever! Got it?! Get out of here! I don't want to see you around anymore! Goodbye," she finished.

"Nami," Luffy said.

Then, he suddenly fell backward to rest.

"I'm going to sleep," Luffy said.

"SLEEP?! NOW?! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD?!" Everyone shouted, except for Oliver.

'System, is Usopp alive?'

[No anomalies have occurred.]

'Is that a yes?'

"I don't feel like leaving this island. I don't care what's happening here. I just feel sleepy. So I'm going to sleep," Luffy told them as he lay down to sleep.

"FINE! Do whatever you want! You can stay here and die if you want!" Nami shouted before running away from the place.

Oliver sat down for a moment to rest, feeling a bit dizzy.

Yosaku and Johnny left after saying they didn't want to be killed by Arlong.

They lay down to rest, waiting for Luffy to wake up so they could decide what to do.

"Do you really think Nami could've killed the long-nosed guy?" Sanji asked Zoro.

"I don't know. She may be small, but she could have taken care of him," Zoro replied.

"Small?!" Sanji said angrily. "What part of Nami's chest is small?!"

Sanji tried to attack Zoro, but Usopp, who had just arrived, stepped in between them and took the hit.

"Great. You guys killed Usopp," Oliver said, standing up.

Luffy heard the commotion and got up, the first thing he saw was Usopp bleeding from the mouth.

"USOPP!! DID NAMI DO THIS TO YOU?!" he asked, holding him in his arms.

"No, sorry, it was him and me," Sanji said, trying to take the blame along with Zoro.

Usopp woke up from the hit and saw Luffy.

"Oh, Luffy, you finally arrived," Usopp said cheerfully.

"I'm here too," Sanji said.

"One day, I'll kill you!" Usopp shouted angrily. "It's true, Nami is the problem. She saved my life! I think there must be a really strong reason for her to be part of Arlong's crew."

"Don't waste your time. It's useless. No matter what you do, you can't stand against Arlong's power," Nojiko told them.

"Who is she?" Luffy asked.

"Nami's older sister, her name is Nojiko," Usopp replied.

"Nami-san's older sister! There's no doubt she's beautiful!" Sanji said, completely love-struck.

"What do you mean by useless?" Zoro asked, ignoring Sanji.

"Please stop getting involved in our affairs. I'll tell you how everything started, but only on the condition that you leave after hearing me," Nojiko said.

"No, I'm fine. I don't care about your past! It's time to walk," Luffy said before walking away.

"Time to walk?! You don't want to hear it?!" Usopp asked.

"No, I don't," Luffy replied.

"What's his problem?" Nojiko asked.

"Don't worry about him. That's just how he is," Zoro answered.

"Go ahead. Say whatever you want, but that won't change anything. The decision is up to Luffy, and I don't think he's going to change his mind," Oliver said.

"I see. Now I understand why Nami has trouble dealing with you guys."

"It all started when Arlong arrived..."

She began telling them everything that had happened in the past—what Arlong did to the village, what he did to her mother, and what Nami had to do to save the village.

"That's why, ever since that day eight years ago, she decided never to show her tears to anyone again, and never again to ask for help!"

"We don't want to see anyone else die at Arlong's hands. We don't want more victims like our mother! Do you now understand how hard it was for Nami to overcome the despair she was in and make the decision to fight for herself when she was only ten years old?"

"Then she made the only deal that could save the village—joining the crew of the man who killed her own mother," Usopp said, understanding Nami's story.

"I'll kill the man who torments my adorable Nami-san!" Sanji shouted, but he was hit on the head by Nojiko.

"OUCH! Why did you do that, Nami-san's sister?!" Sanji asked.

"I told you so you wouldn't do anything stupid! If you cause a commotion here saying you're Nami's friends, the pirates will start suspecting her, and everything she's done for eight years will have been for nothing," Nojiko said.

"That's why I'm asking you not to do anything that could hurt her," Nojiko told them.

"That can't be," Oliver replied, standing up.

"Why? What do you hope to gain by doing this?" Nojiko asked.

"Like I said, everything depends on Luffy. If Luffy says we stay, we stay. If Luffy says we attack, we attack," he replied.

"And if he says to leave?" Nojiko asked.

"I doubt that will happen. That's why we just have to prepare to face those Fish-Men when Luffy gives the word," Oliver replied.

"You're all idiots."

Knowing they wouldn't change their minds, Nojiko walked away toward her house.

"I need to take a little walk to calm myself down," Oliver said.

"Calm yourself?" Usopp asked, but got no response.

Oliver walked for a bit, feeling like his blood was boiling.

'I've read Nami's story many times, but hearing it from Nojiko, almost crying... It makes my blood boil.'
