Kevin stared at him in puzzlement, not knowing whether he should be thankful of the welcome or not. He shrugged and asked indifferently
" what would I be doing in this group "
The boss said with a playful face as if he was just talking about what to eat for lunch
" Oh, nothing much. You will be doing all and I mean all kinds of work that you are capable of "
Kevin nodded in understanding. He was already stuck in this mess and there was no turning back now. So this was where Linda led him. Everything was her fault and that was true. How could she do such a thing. Even after leaving home, she still found a way to make life difficult for them. He was really hurt. It pained him so much. He wanted to ask him why she did that. He wanted to know if she didn't care about them at all. He had several thought running through his mind but before he could think further, the door to the room opened distracting. Almost everyone's attention was at the door. Then a man came in. He held a little briefcase in his hands and whispered in the bosses ears. The boss nodded at every word and said
" Okay place it in the corner. "
The man also nodded and went to a corner in the room. It wasn't until he stepped in the brightened area that Kevin was able to see him clearly. His gaze was on the briefcase and then, the urge came back. This time there was no headache. It was just the urge. It was like he could smell money in the briefcase and that made him sure there was money in. The urge now became uncontrollable and hard to resist. The boss noticed that something was amiss with Kevin and he frowned. Before he could ask what was wrong with him, he saw before his eyes something that shocked him. Kevin suddenly picked up a stone from the ground and threw it. It hit the only light in the room and everywhere became dark and there were sounds of a footsteps. No one knew what happened but after they were able to turn on a torchlight they were surprised to see the briefcase that was with the man earlier now in the hands of Kevin. There were gasps everywhere. Of course this was so strange, even the man who was initially holding the briefcase couldn't figure out when the briefcase was taken from him. And to think that this deed was done by a child barely 10 years was really strange. The boss reacted quickly by exclaiming and asking in amazement
" Wow.... How did you do that. Where on earth did you learn that "
Kevin who was now feeling satisfied felt a little embarrassed with his earlier actions. He didn't want to tell anyone about his disease and rather said in embarrassment
" I... I.. I have to learn on..... how to survive some... sometime "
This statement made the boss chuckled more and he said
" Woohoo that is quite some talent you have and here I was thinking you were a saint ha,ha,haa then you would be centered more on the stealing part "
Although he said that, he didn't really believe Kevin. He felt Kevin was hiding something based on his ealier action and this made him more intrigued in Kevin.
Kevin on the other hand felt disgusted upon hearing the bosses words. But then a thought came into mind and he decided to grab this opportunity. After all Linda used to say
" Learn to transform your bad situations to your own benefit "
This is also a one in a million chance and he was now determined to get something good from this situation he is in. He carefully chose his words and said
" Sir errm, can I know what your name is "
The looked at Kevin in curiosity and said
" Before that let's go out, this room is a little dark "
One of the men took the briefcase from Kevin and the boss led the way out. When they got out Kevin stared at the interiors of the corridor and realized it was old and simple. The corridor was small and soon they were in the main hall. There were some men in the hall. Some of them were filling their guns with bullet. Others were chatting. The boss gave them a glare and upon seeing it everyone left the hall leaving only the boss and Kevin. The boss gestured Kevin to sit down and he obediently sat down
" What were you saying again " he asked
" I...I wanted to know your name "
The boss smiled and questioned
" And why would you want to know my name"
" Nothing, just for easy addressing "
The boss chuckled again and said in amusement
" Oh no that is not quite convincing for me. Once you are worthy enough, you will know my name. Seeing me alone is a privilegde for you. You should appreciate it. Oh you can just call me Spirit or boss like everyone else"
He smiled again. Kevin lightly frowned. Why was this man always smiling, what was funny here. Besides his amiable face make him seems so humble and harmless. If Kevin didn't know this man, he would have definetly thought he was good. Also he didn't like the thought of calling him boss. No one could take control of him. He shrugged the in feeling he was having and went straight to the his main point
" I was thinking that since you want me to master in the stealing part, then why don't you enroll me in a wealthy school. After all, I'm still young and bieng in such a school is going to be an advantage for us. It is just a suggestion. "
The man smiled broadly seeing through Kevin's thought easily. He asked pretending to be in deep thought
" But aside from schooling, pickpocketing is also suitable for you. That would help reduce the cost right "
Kevin panicked. This wasn't how things were supposed g, he had to act faster.
