"…I'm sorry, have we met before?"
"Oh, yes we have. A long, long time ago."
Jacks eyes widened as he realized a bit. He had similar features, and as he remembered. Desmond Park had the ability to use pure white lightning. He had very similar skills to a certain heavenly king.
"…no…"
"Oh yes. And I see you've plucked out that eye of mine, I was hoping that rotting corpse of mine was out there somewhere. And you got to it first. Bravo. Though I have to admit. Hunter, you're not anywhere near as strong as you used to be. I guess I got lucky. And you had to restart from the beginning. Although you amuse me. This dungeon was well beyond your pay grade. I'll make sure you're properly compensated. I'll cover you. But, I don't want to see you again."
"Fine then…but…how are you even alive?"
"…how are we both alive, is the question. I simply don't know. Perhaps it's a method of divine intervention. And one of us got luckier than the other. But here is one thing. Hunter. I will not let you break those limits again. Seeing all of these people. These connections of mine. Their state of power. It makes you truly commendable. A man with such power and isolation. I clap for you. Or maybe who you used to be. If that's what you you choose."
"…why are you acting so friendly? I'm here to kill you, and your kind, to prevent this world from being swallowed whole."
"I know that." Desmond moved closer to him. "But why should I care now? My armies have abandoned me. And I have been abandoned by my kind. A revenge is of order. In earnest."
"…I guess so. But I want nothing to do with you."
"Very well then."
Jack turned on his camouflage and left as fast as possible. Just as the mages started to wake up. The mages groaned a bit as they woke up and looked up to Desmond.
"Um…what happened?"
"Your expedition team was killed. Your carrier boy survived and he saved your two's life. Thankfully I got here in time and stopped that thing. Are you two injured?"
"The…the entire team was killed…? You can't be serious, we're a high rate squad! What were we supposed to do?!"
Desmond just didn't answer.
"Run along now. I have some things to do."
The mages knew their place, they wouldn't dare to argue. And they quickly left.
"Now…how in the world is there no corpse left? Hmph, well it doesn't really matter. Those people are dead anyways. This place…I don't like it at all."
