Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31: Harsh

I saw Saru standing with that boy, and I couldn't bear to see her like that. I knew she was happy, but my heart was burning, my blood was boiling, and my eyes were filled with tears when I saw Abhimanyu so close to her, touching her. I just couldn't take it. I stuffed all my feelings inside and sat down at the table with both of them. I poured a glass of wine, trying to distract myself.

At that moment, Abhimanyu ordered Saru's birthday cake—her favorite, red velvet. He held her hand and sat close, touching her hair and face repeatedly. I was overwhelmed with anger; I couldn't handle it anymore. In a fit of rage, I broke the wine glass in my hand.

After seeing me shatter the glass, Saru rushed towards me, asking, "What happened, Harsh?" I looked away and replied, "Nothing, it was a mistake. Sorry." She looked confused, and so did Abhimanyu. I decided to leave and didn't wait for their response. I walked out of the café, headed straight to a nearby wine shop, bought a full crate of beer, and made my way to my apartment.

That day, I drank six bottles of beer and got wasted. I was lost in thoughts of Saru. I couldn't help but think about her. Deep down, I knew I wasn't the one she wanted or the one she dreamed of, but my heart beat for her. I cry for her and long to be with her. The thought of being away from her is unbearable. I love her—I love her so much.

I didn't remember when I fell asleep, but when I woke up in the morning, I found that I had 30 missed calls and 10 messages from Saru. I was annoyed, so I called her back and said, "Hi Saru, I'm sorry I didn't answer your calls. I was really tired and wasted." She replied, "I was worried about you, Harsh. You left the café like that and didn't respond to my texts or calls." I apologized again, saying, "I'm sorry, Saru, I was just wasted." She then said, "You shouldn't drink so much; it's not good for you." I simply replied, "Hmm."

Then she asked, "Can you come shopping with me? I need to shop for my wedding." I responded, "Yes, of course!" She said, "Meet me at the mall at 1 PM," to which I replied, "Cool," before hanging up the phone. I just couldn't face her right now. Every time I see her, I go a little crazy, which only makes me fall more in love with her.
