Ayla could not believe it when Derrick walked into the restaurant, he was with his friends and some girls.
The same friends that had always come up with an alibi for him. She saw that he had spotted her and Ayla averted eye contact.
Maybe he had not seen her and it was the alcohol that was playing mind games on her.
Her heart stung, and she was shaking a bit, she stood up,
"I need the bathroom, I will be back."
Ayla scurried outside, and the air was more than welcome, this was going to be a long night for her.
Now she had to sit and see him have fun, she did not expect to feel this way.
"Ayla."
She turned, and looked at him, her heart hammered.
"I see you look the same, oh wait, I'm wrong, besides the hair," Derrick said.
She knew that he was mocking her, "Derrick, I see you are well."
He laughed, "Of course, I lost some dead weight, holding me down."
She swallowed, how could he say that to her? She had done so much for him, why was he being this cruel towards her?
"How have you been?"
He scoffed, "Great."
"Why did you have to follow me outside?"
"I wanted to make sure that it was you and I can't miss such an opportunity."
"To bother me?"
"Weren't you the one that was calling me non-stop, I had to block you Ayla, for my mental health."
"Sorry, you were my ex and I was not taking it well then. You were my first boyfriend. "
"You're lucky that I was willing to be your boyfriend, and now with the way you still are, you're going to die a spinster."
She looked at the ground, why did he have to come and ruin her evening. She knew Derrick too well.
He was taking something out on her, that she did not know about,
"You can't even........"
"Honey, I've been looking all over for you."
Ayla turned, and Derrick both turned to Xavier, they were both equally shocked, at least Derrick's focus was on him too.
He walked to her side, wrapped his hand around her waist, he pulled her stark next to him.
He placed a kiss on her cheek, "So this is where you went. I was worried sick."
Derrick looked at her and his mouth was agape. She knew what he thought, the same thing Ayla did when she met this man.
There was a huge difference between Xavier and Derrick, Xavier was a man.
"Who the hell is this Ayla?"
Ayla was frozen on the spot, the fact that the CEO was holding her in his arms, and he was pretending to be her lover.
This was going to go down as one of the most embarrassing moments of her life,
"Her boyfriend and you are?"
"Her ex."
"I should thank you for letting her go, I have loved every moment with her."
Derrick seemed to be in major disbelief, she would relish this moment if it was another man saving her...
"How long have you two been dating for?"
Not her boss!!! Was this even real?
"Six months," Xavier replied calmly.
They had hooked up six months ago! No, she was reading more into it, there was nothing there.
"SIX? WHAT THE FUCK? Ayla, were you cheating on me?"
She couldn't let her boss take cover for her, she had to buckle up, and be courageous. "No, we broke up six months ago."
"The minute we break up you already found someone else? Does that make any sense to you?"
"It just happened that way."
"You say yes to any man that asks you?" Derrick asked degrading her.
"No...….."
"I was the one that asked her out non-stop, in order for her to forget you, I wanted her under me."
Derrick's eyes furrowed, "Ayla, you had the disgusting nerve to ask me about love but you threw everything away for looks."
"Not everyone has a small brain," Xavier replied.
Derrick seemed to be fuming, but there was no way Derrick would be able to challenge Xavier, he was all bark and no bite.
"I need to speak to Ayla alone."
"No, whatever you have to say to her, you can say in front of me."
Derrick turned to her, "Ayla?"
"No."
"No?"
She nodded, Derrick had never been used to being told no and she knew that was killing him.
"Are you acting this way because of him?"
"No Derrick, you did say we were over, I don't get what fighting does now."
"Yes and she has moved on," Xavier added firmly, he leaned down and placed a kiss on her head.
Derrick's eyes narrowed at the gesture, and Ayla swallowed. Him holding her like this sent some electricity into her.
His touch was very strong,
"If that's all."
"No Ayla, we are not done."
"What more do you have to say, Derrick? I have to get back to my colleagues."
"You of all people are now dismissing me."
Some wind blew..............
