Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Ayla was working in a daze, she was so out of it. Work finished and Ayla knew that he did not remember her which was for the best.

If he had, he would have called her about now or he did not care about the one-night stand.

She was not attractive enough to be memorable, and he might be embarrassed that he had sex with someone like her. With the full lighting, he might have been horrified at the mistake he made.

Saturday finally came, and now Ayla sat with her best friend Sammy, they at times missed each other, depending on how tired they were.

"You're telling me the Apollo that took your virginity is the CEO?"

Ayla nodded, "Yes he is."

"Are you sure?"

"I wasn't sure Sammy until he said his name and that hit the nail in the coffin."

"He does not remember you?"

"At first I thought he did when we made eye contact but I was wrong, I mean if he did, he might not want to talk about it, and wants to forget about that night."

Sammy nodded, "I mean it was in the car and you two were up-close."

"But the lighting was not so great."

"Ah makes sense, how do you feel about it?"

"Of course, there was panic in the beginning, but I just want work to be normal."

"I need to see this Apollo myself."

Ayla laughed, "If you come visit me someday maybe you would be lucky to get a glimpse of him."

They both laughed, Monday morning came and she went to work.

"Don't forget about the opening ceremony on Saturday." Said Claire.

They nodded, it was a welcome dinner, and Saturday came too soon. She got ready as usual.

Her glasses were on, her usual attire, even though they called her a grandma, Ayla did not mind. She felt comfortable.

Ayla arrived to the dinner and sat at the end. They all had arrived and their glasses were being filled with champagne.

"He is here."

She heard the murmurs, and Xavier walked in, he sat at the head of the table. Ayla was glad that she had sat at the end of the table.

"A toast to you all."

They raised their glasses and clinked,

"The seniors could give us a chance to talk to him." Some of the interns complained.

"I know right."

The other recruits added,

"They have been in the company for a while now, let us have this night with him." Carrie replied.

"I wish he would tell them to back up a bit." Another intern replied.

"As if you any have a chance with him." One of the guy interns added.

"Nobody was talking to you, and mind your own business." Another girl intern jumped in.

"If we can hear you, we can respond."

"Then ignore us and focus on your friends."

"Are you all fine?" Claire asked.

They all froze,

"Yes, we were just arguing about sports." Another intern replied.

Claire did not probe any further as she turned her attention back to Xavier,

"And the hair flipping commences," Carrie whispered.

Ayla laughed a bit, "Give it a try too."

"I wish, can't make enemies with seniors, just asking to get bullied. They will think that I'm questioning their authority, and that would not end well."

Ayla nodded, "You're right, we should just enjoy the night to the best of our abilities, maybe one day we will get the chance to be in their positions."

Carrie smiled, and handed her a shot, "I like your way of thinking."

Ayla beamed, having a work friend was a dream, "I like you too."

The night progressed until Ayla could not believe her eyes, she had to be dreaming, there was no way that was Derrick.
