Chapter 1 - Awakening Of the Saint (1)

In a world blessed by the Gods and thriving with monsters, what if there was one that was forgotten and neglected by the Gods.

This is the story of Simon Velthorne. He was forgotten yet beloved by the Zodiacs.

Simon Velthorne was writing his textbook with precise and factual information in the academy library.

In the New Year of 2025, a joyous occasion happens, and humanity celebrates the passing of 2024. The veil holding the fabric of reality separating humanity from monsters finally broke

And the cataclysm started.

For 2 months into 2025, monsters kept on killing humans, almost to the brink of extinction as 8 billion humans were reduced to 2 billion humans.

But the Gods were back and they blessed humans with abilities, ranging from magic to supreme martial arts.

And after 2 years of fighting back the monsters humanity has been stabilized into a balance.

Now, fast forward to 500 years later, during the summer break of 2525, abilities are classified into classes based on ability. Mages, Fighters, and Tanks but in these main classes more subclasses arose taking the main premise of the

Main class and adding their own ability coming from the Gods or Family.

-Textbook of Simon Velthorne.

"I'll end it here. It is getting late already. The evening is approaching. "

Simon Velthorne, the 3rd son of the Velthorne family, is one of the most influential families.

The Velthorne family is one of the first generation blessed humans by the gods and they were blessed with the manipulation of the veil.

Though Simon Velthorne was a genius at magic theory he was not blessed with the ability to control mana.

As Simon Velthorne was packing up, he saw Lucia Dravenheart, his childhood friend.

She was a beauty to behold with silver hair and with a noble aura.

Lucia Dravenheart belonged to the Dravenheart family which fought alongside the Velthorne family in the great cataclysm.

Simon Approached Lucia

"It has been a long time since we talked, how have you been?"

Lucia looked at Simon and looked happy to talk to him

"Oh, Simon, it has been a while indeed; I've been doing well still being called The Prodigy Of Dravenheart; it feels heavy to burden such a name. How about you? How have you been with your studies, still pursuing magic?"

Simon smiled with a hint of sadness as mentioning his studies

"Well yeah, but it's hard to control mana when you aren't blessed with the ability to sense mana itself..."

Lucia looked at Simon with a sorry face

"I apologize for mentioning that... But I wish you well in your studies."

Simon shrugged and spoke once again

"It's fine; I wish you well in your studies, too; I have to say it is getting late; I have to go back to my dorm. Goodnight."

Simon took his books and other things and went back to his dorm

As Simon went back to his dorm a book containing information about stars sat on his table

"This is a book supposedly revealing the secret of the stars"

Simon sat down on his chair and read the book

"This is an interesting name for a book"

"Secret of the Forgotten Stars"

Simon reads a notice on the next page

"He who will realize the star's true names and what they are will become the saint of the forgotten stars"

"If ye are the inheritor of the stars ye will be the child of stars"

Simon closed the book and looked at his telescope. He used it, and he was enamored with the beauty of the skies.

He kept staring at the constellations and was interested in the history of such stars.

Simon stopped gazing, performed a stance, and tried to sense mana. He felt it for a short moment, yet mana rebounded, and he spit out blood.

"Fuck, at least I felt it again; something said to be impossible for me."

He wiped the blood away and took a bath. As he walks out he goes to bed and drifts away to sleep

He woke up 3 hours before a practical exam.

He gets his gear and goes to get ready.

3 hours later he finally gets there almost to be late yet on time, he goes to his team and he looks to be stressed because of something

"I'm Simon Velthorne, one of the mages for the team"

A random tank speaks with a loud voice aiming to humiliate him

"Oh great! A fallen prodigy, how unlucky could I get. "

Simon spoke with a timid voice

"I-i apologize... "

Before the tank could speak more the professor spoke with a loud and commanding voice.

"Students of the academy, I welcome you to the practical midterm exam. Our exam will be conducted in teams of 5, one tank, 2 swordsmen

2 mages or tanks, and the location will be in a D rank gate"

Simon and his team get ready and enter the D-rank dungeon; his team consists of 1 tank, 1 swordsman, 1 rogue, 1 archer, and Simon the mage.

They started off with the formation, and the rogue used her skill to scout the surroundings and report the monsters.

"Alright, so there are 10 goblin swordsmen in the next room, so let's get ready."

Simon breathes nervously, and they advance to the next room; the tank uses his skill [Aggression] to attract the attention of the goblins, and he blocks the damage. The rouge sneaks behind the pack and kills some of the swordsmen to cover the flanks while the archer and rogue finish the rest of the monsters off.

"Okay, good progress so far. We keep this up, we might get into the rankings."

Said the tank, aiming to give the team motivation to give them hope to achieve their high goals.

The team kept advancing and they encountered 5 ogres, the formation was almost the same but now the swordsman stopped defending and attacked one ogre slipped away and tried to attack Simon, but he dodged the attack

"Help!"

Simon shouts for help as he dodges like the wind, and the ogre gets an arrow to the head from the archer.

"Thanks so much!"

The archer replies to Simon

"You're welcome, but next time, try to be less noticeable to the monsters."

After 20 minutes they finally advance to the boss room expecting a goblin knight but they see a goblin king and 5 goblin knight and shamans with 25 goblin fighters 25 goblin archers 25 goblin tanks and 25 goblin wizards

"What the... Why, how did this happen? This is supposed to be a D-rank. This is an A rank at most!"

They panicked and feared for their lives; Simon looked back and saw a dimensional crack. He realized the monsters had come from another dungeon. This is a rare phenomenon where dungeon breaks happen in dungeons.

They took formation, trying to be ready to fight to their last breath, yet they were overwhelmed.

Though the Goblin king, knights, and shamans did not fight, they were still overwhelmed.

The tank's shield breaks, and he gets gravely injured; the rogue gets surprised with an attack, the swordsman gets his arm cut off, and the archer freezes in fear, getting a shot in the legs from the goblin archer.

Simon, still shaken with fear, rushed to attack, but he was met with a ton of slashes from the back and front, leaving him on the brink of death.

Till a status window showed up and a message showed up.
