Anna held the kitchen knife in her hand, her body shaking as she stood over the creature that spawned in front of her, its corpse not disappearing like how it appeared.
"What the actual fuck?" (Anna)
The creature's corpse has grey-skin large elephant-like ears and lidless opal-like eyes. Its teeth covered the entirety of its lower jaw, and its body was shaped like an emaciated child. Its talon-like hands were coated in someone's blood as green blood flowed from its body. Smelling rancid like bleach and vinegar. Black smoke rose from its body before its final breath left its lungs as the smoke vanished.
Anna wanted nothing more than to vomit at the sight. On the first day, Anna remained hidden, only coming out to eat. Her fridge no longer worked, so Anna did what she could to preserve her food. She was also happy she had camping gear to cook her food, which still works.
The first monster, or what she has been calling the Hummer. Yes, she knows that that name isn't great, but the most similarity between that species is that they are more significant than a single-story house, and you can always hear a humming sound from their wings when they approach. So, to her, the name made sense and was logical. Then, the more miniature monsters started to appear.
The creature in front of her that she killed she has been calling a shadow walker. They can break down their bodies into something like smoke and have to physically manifest before attacking. It still bothers Anna. These things are the size of small children, but they don't talk; all they do is attack and consume.
Within the first couple of hours, Anna has already encountered more bodies than she would like to admit. Unfortunately, this is the first day she has left her apartment. Anna walked away quickly as she spotted more creatures; these were small but didn't seem as dangerous. Their bodies were like bloated Slugs, the size of shoes, and their mouths were like a lamprey or a leech. As it had tiny arms dragging its body and a second mouth on its stomach, Anna moved as fast as possible. Those creatures, well slugs, although creepy, seem to feast only on corpses. Possibly, they are similar to vultures or hyenas. She will not go close to them to determine whether that is fact.
Taking steps, Anna wanted to go home before a weird clicking sound came from inside her head. She stopped walking, confused about where the noise was coming from, before an odd blinding light filled her vision, causing her to blink multiple times.
"What the?" (Anna)
When she spoke, her vision returned, and a small screen filled the corner of her vision.

With that, the screen vanished, and Anna looked around to ensure no monster had tried to approach her when she wasn't paying attention. The situation was too weird for her to consider, and at the moment, all that mattered to her was surviving. Over the past couple of days in her room, the monsters have gotten bolder and more significant in number.
At the moment, Anna wants nothing to do with them, so she is attempting to leave the city. Although open space isn't as safe, it will likely be much safer than this. No matter where she looked, there were always things and buildings that made her unable to tell if something would attack her. She ignored the feeling building in her chest and moved faster. She hopes she can make it to Walmart to take a bike and possibly a cart to travel more easily. Although she will still struggle with her leg, she can still have an easier time moving faster since no advanced technology is working. Honestly, anything that would or had been using electricity had quit working.
Her camping gear mostly worked because instead of electricity, it was just a small gas stove with a dial to control how much flame it released. Anna had packed food and jugs of water as lightly as she could. Her body felt heavy, carrying everything she had, but what else could she do? All she wanted to do was to leave this city and hopefully survive the wilderness while getting as far away as she could from the tower in the distance, looking at the tower. Occasionally, black dots moved in and out of the tower, most likely the Hummer's.
"Nowhere feels safe here." (Anna)
Anna wasn't alone in her concussion as she had suspected, although some people had already looted the Walmart in front of her. Glass shattered in the doors as Anna walked through the broken Glass. Anna shook her head, stepped through the second set of doors, and saw the inside of Walmart looking ransacked. A few people are still pillaging through the store. Some monster corpses were also on the ground, and some half-eaten human corpses were also present.
