Chapter 10 - Oroborn's Anchor

"Different?" Izikel wondered

"Yes, different," Oroborn replied, "What do you know about energy?"

Izikel was lost for a moment, "Energy?"

He pondered, scratching his jaw, "I only know what I was taught back in school that energy is the ability to do work...oh yeah, I also know it can't be destroyed, only changed from one form to another,"

Oroborn was somewhat satisfied with his answer,

"Good, but that is how energy is described in a world like yours, only because it has less Divinity. In other worlds with Divinity there is something called Divine energy,"

Izikel stared blankly at him, unable to grasp a single thing he said. Oroborn, seeing this, sighed disappointedly and continued explaining.

"At the beginning there were only two forms of energy, Chaos and Divinity. Chaos is the energy of destruction, while Divinity is the energy of creation. Everything in existence was created from Divinity. Different planes or worlds were created inside a bubble, that bubble is referred to as the Order of Divinity, or as some would call it the Fabric of Existence,"

"The Order of Divinity serves as a law to govern and protect all of existence. Chaos seeks to destroy this order and all of existence along with it. To do that it will continue trying to corrupt beings within existence. Most of the chaos gods were once true gods of existence, that allowed themselves to be corrupted by destruction, and was banished from existence a very long time ago,"

"These days the chaos gods try to use mortals to destroy existence one world at a time. Since they can't destroy all of existence at once, they use their anchor to force chaos energy into the world until they break the balance and destroy the world,"

"But I am not like that, I want you to grow stronger within the Order of Divinity,"

Izikel stared at Oroborn with eager eyes,

"Why, what exactly do you need from me?"

Oroborn responded with a small smile,

"Nothing as of right now, you are still too weak to be of any use to me, but if you survive long enough you'll find out eventually,"

The flame on the meteorite gradually changed color after Oroborn passed his hands through it, it was now burning with a deep violet hue, that reflected sharply in Izikel's bright green eyes.

"Now that I have answered your prayer do you still have any questions, this is the only time I can appear to you like this. The flames of the Altar is at its strongest during ignition, it would take a long time before it is this powerful again"

Izikel had more than a thousand questions, but if he could only ask one he should ask the most important.

"Will I ever be able to go back home to my father?"

Oroborn's expression showed that he didn't like this question. He stared at Izikel for a few seconds before turning away, and vanishing into the dark, leaving him with a final statement.

"I suggest you forget about your former life, you are now a Priest of Oroborn,"

A few seconds after his physical presence disappeared, time continued to flow as usual. Just as Oroborn had said, the flames on the Altar reduced by almost half.

A translucent floating blue scroll materialized before him.

{You have acquired the Fate scripture of an Anchor}

Soul energy: 40/1000

___

The 40 in the Soul energy continued to increase by 1 every second, and as it increased he could feel a certain type of energy flow from the Altar into him, it flowed directly into his soul.

Izikel's eyes opened as the scripture appeared before him. He tried touching it but his hands went right through. He had seen a reference to scriptures earlier in one of the books he read.

'so this is what it means'

He had read that there were two types of scriptures, the anchor and the saint. Back then he had no idea what it was, but at least now it made a little sense.

The believers that possess Fate scriptures were called Divine believers. There were two types of Divine believers, the Anchor and the saint.

The Anchor were the ones who ignited the altars, usually a priest, and then the saint were probably warriors like Sophia.

"It's kind of like a power menu," he thought out loud as he continued to read the content.

He figured that his acquired Attribute was the attribute he acquired from his god, the Dreamer didn't sound too bad, but it made him wonder what other attributes did Oroborn have. It probably had something to do with darkness and endlessness.

After the Ignition ritual, Izikel could feel a certain type of connection with Oroborn. It was as if he was watching him, or instead watching the world through him.

Izikel wasn't happy that Oroborn didn't answer his last question, but he wasn't going to give up. He would do everything in his power to one day see his father again, even if just to apologize. He owed him that much at least.

He returned his attention to the scripture. Judging by the description alone, he could tell that the attribute effects were like passive skills, while the blessing are miracles that would need Soul energy to perform.

It was all very easy to understand, except for the Soul Divinity, he knew it probably meant the divinity of your soul, but he didn't know what that 'II' beside it meant.

"Then this soul energy could as well be my available mana,"

As the words left his mouth he couldn't help but smile.

"I really am in a fantasy world,"

The fact that he had traveled to a world just like the ones he had read in stories, was still an unbelievable reality. No matter how much he missed his father, this was still something he always fantasized about, who would have imagined that his secret prayers would ever be answered.

A prayer denied by a god was answered by a devil, and now that devil had become his god.

'but I guess that is how it always is, whoever answers the prayers would be called god'

Suddenly Izikel heard a voice call out to him from up the steps.

"My lord?"

Izikel panicked immediately, it sounded like the person was shouting into the cave from upstairs. He froze, shock and fear permeating his heart.

'Crap! the secret door is still open?!'
