Chapter 12 - The Druids

After the burial ceremony, Izikel carried out a little investigation about the girl.

He learnt that the girl's name was Lyzah and that she was the daughter of the chief of the Druids in the village.

The Druids were once the most powerful race of Believers on the continent. They were all almost Divine believers, able to perform miracles like healing, plant control, communicate with animals and a lot more.

But with all this power they were still massacred during the Great war, because of a restriction their god, the Verdant mother of Life, put on their mind.

They were not allowed to take another life on purpose. It wasn't just a law that they followed, it was ingrained in their very soul making them unable to use their abilities in hurting another soul, not even that of an animal.

Their power could only be used to protect and not to destroy and because of that they could not protect themselves from the destruction that followed.

During the Great war, because of their pacifist nature, they tried to advocate for peace. They used their power to capture and detain the other believers, they occupied battlefields with their forces and slowed the progression of the war, but their efforts were not appreciated.

Instead, they were seen as nuisances and annoying pests, hence the persecution of the Druids became the new norm. Most of their Altars were burnt including their oldest tree of life, the World Tree.

Their lands were taken and shared amongst the 5 great kingdoms after the war. The few Druids that survived were scattered around the continent, living in settlements and villages.

The region being ruled by Izikel's family, was one of such settlements. The Druids there lived amongst the villagers. They were allowed to maintain their laws and religion since it was all mostly peaceful, but they still had to answer to the Region Priest, which in this case was Isiel and soon to be Izikel.

Lyzah was the daughter of the chief Druid, so she was a close friend with Izikel and that was why they played together often.

"So what would have made her attack Izikel?"

From what he knew, it was supposed to be impossible for a Druid to do something of that sort, but yet he was certain he felt something when he met Lyzah. He couldn't explain what exactly it was, but it felt like a sixth sense, allowing him to sense that there was something hidden behind her tears.

Right now he was standing before the Altar staring at his fate scripture.

The feeling he got from Lyzah was probably because of his attribute effect, Higher mental awareness. So that meant that whatever he was noticing was because he was now in touch with his subconscious.

He nodded understandingly, before thinking back to everything Oroborn had said. Now he had a clearer picture of the world and existence at large, not only that he was able to confirm that Oroborn was indeed an Outergod.

This made him understand that the reason why Oroborn didn't summon him himself was because he simply couldn't.

'from what I understand Outergods probably don't have that kind of authority within existence, and that was why he needed me to pray to a True god of existence instead, and that means he was hoping I'll get banished from existence so he could save me… that devious bastard set me up,'

Izikel shook his head as he clicked his tongue,

He wanted to curse at Oroborn but he was cautious knowing that the god was watching him. Who knows what that bastard would do.

'What if he could read my mind?!'

The thought of Oroborn seeing everything in his mind, sent a creepy feeling coursing through his body, but he managed to convince himself that it wasn't possible.

Shaking the creepy thought out of his head, he returned to what was actually important. Finding answers.

Right now, he suspected that the Lyzah lied, and that it was possible the injury wasn't really an accident.

"If there was a chance that this was true, it would mean someone out there has a reason to want me dead,"

He pondered for more than a few seconds,

"I can't allow that kind of a threat to be out there, if not, there's a risk that I might die… and this time for good,"

According to the books he had read, anchors usually used prayers to perform miracles, but he felt there was something more to it.

It wasn't just prayer, it was more about the soul. He could feel it inside his physical body. A white orb right beside his heart. It has no physical form, but it was there.

He had first noticed it after he was banished from existence. For a while that was all he was, a white orb existing without a body. Then he met Oroborn and was given a form back, but only for a moment. Then he was sent into Izikel's body. Finally, it was during the ignition ceremony he realized it was his soul.

"The soul was the real me, it was where my consciousness and thoughts exist. The body was merely a shell to house the soul,"

There was a small set of purple beads, if he had counted he would have seen exactly 1000 in number. But he didn't need to, he was already pretty sure that was his soul energy. They were connected like a chain and going around a circle. Forming a ring around his soul, like one of those rings of rocks around planets.

He figured that was how the power system was arranged, the divine energy, or in his case chaos energy, from the gods would flow from the altar into the believer, and it would then become their soul energy used in performing miracles.

With his eyes closed he reached out to the purple bead and a magical pulse rushed through his body. Sending what felt like a pleasant electric shock from his head, to the tips of his fingers and toes.

He opened his eyes for a moment before getting on his knees and closing them back.

'The secret wasn't to just pray, it was to do it with your Soul energy,'

He then placed his hand on the not-burning side of the rock, and said the word,

"Dream,"

And just like that he appeared somewhere else. It was like outer space but with a solid ground.

There were lots of bright stars hanging in the sky, with one being as bright as the sun, that was the major source of the light.
