"Well I guess you'll have to find out later like the rest of the class"
He said with an even more condescending smirk and ruffled her hair like she was a child before he walked past her. However, as he walked away, Toru couldn't help but flush red just lightly. It was definitely overfamiliar, especially considering they hadn't introduced each other yet, but she didn't hate it.
"Alright everyone, on your seats!"
The door slammed shut as a tall man with shaggy black hair and a wire-like scarf around his neck walked towards the front centre of the class; he had an unshaven face and bags under his eyes; he stopped momentarily to put some eye drops on his eye before turning to face the students.
"Welcome to class 1A, my name is Shota Aizawa and I will be your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year, nice to meet you"
Aizawa introduced himself. However, the students didn't respond to his introduction; they were quite taken aback by the appearance of their supposedly new teacher.
"Somebody call security, there's a homeless man in here"
Taro was first to speak and everyone in class suddenly realised.
'Ah! that makes sense'
The class thought in unison. Obviously, no teacher in UA, a prestigious hero school, would come to class unshaven with shaggy, unkempt hair and baggy clothes, so it had to be a homeless man.
"Ha ha, never heard that one before, just for that, Introduce yourself and tell us your quirk"
"Wait, you're actually the teacher?!"
It wasn't Taro who asked in disbelief but instead, another student, one wearing glasses and had dark blue hair.
Aizawa didn't answer but instead pulled out a card from his pocket and showed it to the class.
"All UA employees have a card similar to this; it details their job at this Institution, and as you can see, mine says teacher."
He explained, and he could practically feel all of them collectively think, "No way" It was always amusing when their facial expression matched their thoughts.
"Now onto the introductions."
....
[Takoba municipal Beach]
The sun was slowly rising further high into the sky, making its way closer towards noon. It was still very much morning. As such, it had yet to blast its heat as much as it should, but the temperature was steadily rising.
Two individuals stood over the railing that separated the road from the beach as they witnessed the landfill, a beach filled with nothing but garbage, scrap and old worn-out furniture or equipment.
To any environmentalist, this would have been a disgusting sight, one that demanded their attention. Unfortunately, the city of Musutafu did not have the necessary individuals who cared enough about the environment to even try to clean it.
"Disgusting isn't it?"
Asked a man; he wore a pitch-black hoodie and a white face mask, hiding half of his face. On his back, there was a sword that was thickly wrapped in bandages, making it so one couldn't tell if it was a weapon or not. However, it was suspicious enough to get the attention of any curious onlookers.
"The ones that refer to themselves as Heroes are only Heroes when there's fame to be had and an audience to entertain"
He continued that the man was of the firm belief that current Heroes were not but fake idols to seek fame and fortune; they did not fight for justice. Unfortunately, his words only received a nod from the young man beside him.
"Are you listening to me, Izuku?"
He asked and the green-haired youth was pulled out of his own thoughts, and he replied to his mentor's words.
"Of course, Master Akaguro. The hypocritical hero society thrives on recognition and praise, so places like this get overlooked"
He stated, his voice sombre and subdued, almost as if what he was saying was a shameful truth. The young lad had dark eye bags and his formerly vibrant light green eyes had lost their luster.
"You don't have to repeat the words I said to you when we first met, I know you were thinking about that girl who helped you when you tripped earlier this morning"
Akaguro stated and Izuku couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed and anxious, anxious because he did not know if his master would approve.
"I won't outright discourage romantic relationships, however, I will recommend you give up on them, my work is heavily frowned upon and if you truly wish to assist me in changing this society for the better it's best you discard any Ideas of romantic relationships"
He explained that Akaguro also firmly believed that both he and the young lad beside him had radical views that the average person in this society would find disagreeable, so even without his work, any romantic relationship would be ill-advised.
"I understand, Master."
Izuku nodded; he knew that his master was right; he'd only been under this man's wing for over a year, and in that year, he had seen what he would need to do to change this society for the better and it left no room for any distractions or loose ends.
However, despite that, That girl was the first person who showed him any degree of kindness; she and Akaguro were the only people alive that have ever been kind to him.
His mother had been the only other person, but she died right before he could finish his second year of high school, and from there, he never met a single person who treated him with any modicum of respect or kindness; the moment they found out he was quirkless they thought of him as trash.
"Good, always remember what the mission is about and what we hope to achieve"
He nodded once again.
"What are we doing here Master?"
He questioned, while his mentor was a bit on the odd side, he didn't think man enjoyed the sight of a landfill and garbage.
"For the past year, we've been focusing more on things like strength training, flexibility and some swordplay, so I thought an obstacle course to test you would be beneficial before you start working with me in earnest"
Akaguro explained as he walked forward and jumped on top of a busted refrigerator and looked over the entire area, it was a pitiable sight.
"So are we going to clean this place while also looking for some good enough equipment?"
"Yes but actually no, Yes that we're looking for good enough equipment but we aren't going to clean this place"
"Why?"
Akaguro did not answer but instead pointed to his left, and Izuku followed where the man was pointing and saw a homeless man picking up various things and dusting them off before putting them in a black plastic bag.
"While I did say this is disgusting, it's also worth noting that this city doesn't have enough shelters or communities that assist the homeless so this place can be a good place to look for supplies and even scrap metal to sell. Cleaning would be essentially making this harder for them"
He explained and Izuku nodded, understanding that it was a "another man's trash is another man's treasure" type of situation.
"Now quit standing there, and let's look for equipment. The less time we spend here, the more time I can spend making sure you're ready."
"Yes sir!"
He explained and took a breath, an action he immediately regretted as the smell of the beach reached his nose and nearly made him puke but he was quick to shove it down and continued forward.
This would be the last step of his training before he went into the field; a year ago, he had been unsure of this whole thing, but he certainly was now.
If a person like Katsuki Bakugou was able to be accepted into UA University without stipulations, then that means heroes that act like him exist and are being praised and lauded despite their actions, and Izuku was not going to allow such people to call themselves heroes.
