Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The class 3

"Alright, with the introductions over, stay here for a bit while I go do my job"

Aizawa informed and surprised the students with his words; typically, he would be taking them to do a quirk apprehension test to get a good idea of how they've mastered their quirks so far.

However, with the number of students being lower to 12 per class this year, this means he has a bit of leeway and can take his time observing.

Right now he will be leaving the class unattended mostly because he'll be going to the principal's office to talk about reserving space in ground Beta and go into his office and research each student's quirks and search for any similarities they have with other quirks from other heroes and then, try and match what type of hero work each quirk was suited for.

"What about orientation?"

"Yeah, you can ignore that. For the most part, you'll be focused on hero stuff, and orientation is unimportant. Don't make a noise while I'm gone"

With that, Aizawa left the classroom, leaving the students to their devices for the time being.

"Taro, you didn't tell me. You had 3 whole quirks. That's awesome dude"

Eijiro was the first to speak, turning to look at Taro, who was all the way at the back of the class.

"Being built differently often is awesome"

Taro responded with a cocky grin on his face. Momo couldn't suppress her eye roll, knowing her brother was getting a big head.

"It's rare to have more than one Quirk, I thought Todoroki having 2 quirks was pretty cool too"

Mina informed while also positioning her chair to face Momo; the sitting wasn't arranged in alphabetical order as such; some of the girls sat close together; it was fortunate that Momo's seat was at the centre of the class.

"Oh please, having multiple quirks isn't that great, I'll still beat all of you with my one quirk!"

Katsuki voiced loudly without looking back; it was more like he was addressing the whole class rather than speaking to one person. His announcement caused the entire class to take a pause.

"Regardless of how many quirks I have, I'm not going to lose to any of you"

Todoroki, too, joined the conversation his voice was low and monotone, but his words were clear. Katsuki frowned deeply, not liking the declaration from Todoroki, but he also felt a bit motivated to ensure that he never lost.

The tension rose in the classroom, and everyone suddenly kept their mouths shut. They felt the weight of Bakugou and Todoroki's words. They were declarations from people with powerful quirks.

The rest of the class, barring Taro, did not possess the confidence to contradict them, or at the very least, they couldn't build up the courage to speak out against such declarations, not yet.

"Unfortunately for both of you, You'll lose to me, so it doesn't matter what you say now"

Taro announced, leaning back on his seat and resting his hands on the back of his head. The cocky grin never left his face. He was happy, happy that he finally looked to be in the right place for him to unleash his full might, without holding back or worrying about hurting someone.

"Yeah it doesn't matter what we say now. All that will matter is what we do, so I'll say this to make things clearer to every one of you"

Katsuki turned and faced Taro; the young man wasn't about to let the arrogant bastard have the last word; his own pride couldn't let someone say such words and have them go uncontested.

"I'm going to be number 1"

The young Bakugou said as such with a taunting grin on his face and an undeserved amount of arrogance before he sat down.

Todoroki had wanted to speak against that but chose not to and instead was determined to let his actions do the talking for him.

"Nuh-uh! I'll be number one"

Taro informed, half jokingly and half serious, eliciting some chuckles from some of his classmates.

"Well, while you guys are busy arguing, maybe one of us will take the spot of number 1 right under your noses"

Mina informed the two as she quickly sensed the atmosphere become less tense. Her words caused everyone to finally carry the confidence to speak as well.

"Yeah she's right, but as a man, I can't let myself lose to any of you either"

The red-haired Kirishima expressed himself, his voice laced with great enthusiasm and excitement; although inwardly, he felt that he needed to be more confident, Mina spoke out before he could, once again displaying that she was much stronger than he was.

"Well I'm not really here to become number 1, but I'll do my best"

Uraraka remarked, whilst feeling a little guilty, that her goal was never to really be a hero; in the truest sense of the word, she was just in it for the money, so she felt that she was a bit selfish compared to everyone in her class.

"Ochako is right, we don't have to be number 1 to be good at being heroes, as long as we focus on mastering our quirks everything will be fine, so don't let those three intimidate you, guys"

"Ms Tsuyu is correct, as long as we focus on what we are good at and study hard, we should succeed"

Tenya Iida quickly agreed with Asui's reasonable statement and added his own encouraging words.

"I certainly think there's merit in wanting to be number 1 and it can serve as a motivation for one to reach greater heights but I have to agree with Iida and Tsuyu on this matter, but personally as long as I can follow in the steps of All Might, and be a hero like him I don't need to be number 1"

Momo voiced and earned agreeable hums from the majority of the class. A majority of people in the class and even in the hero course wanted to be a hero because they were inspired by All Might, one way or another.

"Humph! That's what losers say to make themselves feel better, I'm here to be the best, and the best is number 1"

"Alright wanna be Gilgamesh, chill out before you start calling us Mongrels"

Taro joked and earned some laughs from a few in the class, as some of them understood that reference.

Katsuki seemed to not appreciate his words and appreciated it even less to be laughed at.

"What? You think being funny makes you likable? We can all see you're going to be bald by the end of the year already"

Katsuki threw back his own insult; of course, he only said what he overheard when Momo and Taro were arguing earlier. Momo stifled her laugh but seemed to fail as she snickered audibly.

"You look like the kind of guy who'd beat his wife in the future, I feel sorry for your girlfriend"

"Better than the guy who'd get beat up by his wife"

"You know that perpetual angry face makes you look like a constipated old man with haemorrhoids, right?"

The two began going back and forth, trading insults, and the class slowly chuckled and laughed at some of them; however, eventually, Eijiro Kirishima decided to put a stop to it.

"Alright you guys, that's enough before it gets real personal"

Kirishima decided to end the spat between the two; he'd much rather they all get along as classmates; after all, they will be spending the entire year together and maybe more, so it's better to get along than not.

...

A/N:I feel like this chapter was a lot stiffer; I tried to make everyone have something to say, but it came off as unnatural; what do you guys think?

Also, it's a bit too short

Next chapter on Tuesday, I need to stack up to increase the word count.
