Chapter 39 - The Tipping Point

(As I walk through the neighborhood, my mind races with the details of the plan. The stakes are high, but if everything goes as planned, it will be a major victory. Judge Marcus Caldwell is a key figure in the Rafael Voss case, and if he can threaten him, he could derail the entire case.)

Our character gets home and checks his emails again.

Leonardo Moretti was quick; it's only been half an hour since I sent the email.

Email: Let's meet again tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM at the usual place.

That's good news. Now I have to wait and see if Judge Caldwell takes the bait. I keep refreshing my inbox, but so far there's nothing.

[2-3 Hours Later]

The character checks his emails once more.

Yes, it seems to have worked. I have all of Judge Caldwell's account information; now it's time to finish this.

Our character starts checking Judge Caldwell's accounts and emails.

After some searching, I found something very strange. If I share this with the authorities, they may even remove Judge Caldwell from his position.

I discovered that Caldwell had been texting the defendant Rafael Voss, and this is not just a regular text message; they are negotiating money like criminals.

I immediately reported this evidence to the Justice Department website as a complaint.

I am saving the emails and hope that after I discuss this with Leonardo Moretti tomorrow, they will be able to take action on this evidence.

[Next Day]

Our character gets ready. He leaves the house and meets with Leonardo Moretti.

Leonardo: Hello, ****.

****: Hello, Leonardo.

Leonardo: We were going to reach out to you to get you started, but it seems you got ahead of us.

****: Yes, I am in trouble.

Leonardo: What happened?

Our character explains the whole situation to Leonardo Moretti.

****: That's all.

Leonardo: What a complicated situation, damn it.

****: Yes, it's a bit complicated and difficult.

Leonardo: You've already done what you had to do; threatening the judge will delay the case.

****: There's something I didn't mention. I reported the secret communication between the judge and the defendant to the authorities.

Leonardo: Great! Now all we have to do is spread the word. Well done, you did a great job. It'll be great to work with you in the future; you're one of the most talented people I've ever seen in this field.

Our character says goodbye to Leonardo and goes home.

(Wow, was it really that easy? Everything went surprisingly smoothly. I guess I shouldn't have stressed out so much; Jake was right; I was thinking too much.)

(I'm really tired; I just want this day to be over.)

(The character throws himself on the bed and falls asleep.)
