P.O.V Narume
It has been about a day since we left Konoha. At first, Naruto was horrified when he learned that I had fought against the ANBU. But after I assured him that no one had died, he calmed down.
We then discussed my identity, which he completely denied. Here, I had no proof. He trusted the Hokage, who had assured him that he had no living family, more than he trusted me, a complete stranger.
The incident had only made things worse. At one point, I considered using spells to make him remember, but I had no confidence in myself in that area.
The experience I had received from Kunivella in this field was limited to pure manipulation or breaking the minds of targets to turn them into slaves. That was not an option.
Then he wanted to return to Konoha. I obviously didn't allow it, which made him sulk, but faced with my arguments, he had no choice. He was weaker than me in combat and had no idea of his real situation. He had no other choice but to continue following me.
I never planned to keep him with me forever.
I didn't want to return to Konoha, but I intended to find a way to help him regain his memories and then return him to the hands of Konoha's ninjas.
That's why I had left traces while escaping. I didn't think I could protect him from everything. I was certainly powerful, but his status as a Jinchūriki made him too big of a target.
I didn't know if the other villages were aware of his identity, and I didn't want to find out. But the ones I feared the most were the Akatsuki.
With a large enough army, I could fight a high-level ninja. However, Kunivella, despite having powerful spells, relied heavily on her subordinates.
Many Akatsuki members wouldn't even flinch against that kind of tactic, and they always moved in pairs. If I ran into Sasori, Kisame, or Deidara, it would be game over.
Not to mention Pain or Konan. The worst was Obito. No matter how much people mocked him, his abilities and control over them would put me in danger.
Against him, I lost the advantage of teleportation because, from what I remembered, he could track spatial movements and find me.
His return to Konoha was the best option.
As a victim, he would have nothing to fear from Konoha.
With all the changes I had observed in his life, I understood that Hiruzen would protect him.
A little later, I received a notification from the system:
[Quest: I'm Back (Mission Accomplished)
Requirement: Make those who participated in your erasure realize their failure.
Reward: Kunivella +10% + a minor template with the same characteristics.]
With this reward, the Kunivella template reached 100%. I once again received information and memories, but this time, no spells. Just theories on ninth-tier spells.
I moved away to receive the new template while leaving Naruto in the new tent.
We had been moving around, abandoning all traces of our previous camps each time.
The new template was labeled as "minor," but it had the same characteristics as Kunivella. That meant it could either be a mage or an undead. That last attribute was what made me step away, fearing an explosion of negative energy.
It would be a shame to injure Naruto for no reason.
The best outcome would be an undead more focused on close combat.
To my surprise, a small list appeared. It seemed I had a choice:
[- Iguva=41
- Nigun Grid Luin
- Keno Fasris Invern
- Death Knight
- Vampire Bride]
Seeing the options, I took a moment to think. First, I ruled out Keno Fasris Invern for a simple reason: I didn't know who that was.
Then, Nigun Grid Luin. He was the leader of the Sunlight Scripture and one of the fourth-tier casters of the New World.
The problem was that he was a faith-based spellcaster, and his spells killed the undead.
The only one I knew who shared these two traits was Shalltear, but even she worshiped the Blood God.
Most vampires feared sunlight, with the only exceptions being True Vampires, so Vampire Bride was eliminated.
Iguva=41 was a lich created by Ainz, but weaker than Kunivella, so he was also eliminated.
My choice fell on the Death Knight, an undead of level thirty-five with an attack equivalent to level twenty-five and a defense equivalent to level forty-five.
It was my best option since it complemented me well.
When I made my choice, the explosion of negative energy I had feared did not occur. Instead, the legacy instantly reached 30% since I was an undead with a higher level of negative energy than the Death Knight, whose main strength was that very energy.
I then received another system quest:
[Choice Quest:
Option 1: Save Naruto and let him return to the village.
Reward: All those who have forgotten you will gradually recover their memories..
Option 2: Save Naruto and turn him into an undead.
Reward: A level 100 undead template for Naruto.
Option 3: Save Naruto and force him to stay with you.
Reward: Razor Edge.
Option 4: Abandon Naruto.
Reward: A World Item.]
After seeing save Naruto in two of the options, I rushed toward the campsite without even bothering to read the rest.
