Chapter 4 - Preparing for my own party

I told peace not to cook lunch for me today that I was already late. She could not just stop smiling. I don't know if the joy csme from not having to cook or because of our morning ecercise. She watched me dress while she was in bed with the bed sheet folded up against her chest and knees folded up inside. I don't know why but I fall in love with this woman everyday. She offered to help me knot my tie but I declined and told her to get a little bit of rest before she prepared to work, [her place of work was close to the house].

"Thane dear, let me put on some clothes so that we can pray together"

"peace-hon" I reached out to hold her cheeks and I kissed her.

"God is everywhere, I will pray in the car before leaving. I will communicate to him, I love him too"

"But thane don't,…" I kissed her on the forehead and I bid her goodbye. I know she wants the best for me but praying with her would take such a long time. I don't think I could sacrifice such time while I was running late. Deep down within me, I knew that she was always enthused about God. Over the years, her enthusiasm rubbed of me. I saw myself more often visiting the orphanages and donating money to fund churches. But I still didn't really understand this Jesus she always spoke about, I prayed and I sang hymns but I haven't really gotten to feel the kind of experiential knowledge she would go on telling me on some nights, hours unending.

Peace

He left so fast, I wondered if it was because I suggested a prayer or because he was actually running late. I closed my eyes and scratched my head. I should have used that time to pray with him. I got down on my knees. I was naked and my room was in a mess, I decided to go make myself fit and prepared for a king's arrival. I got into one of my clean pajamas and picked the clothes across the floor , closed the wardrobe , spread the bed and turned on the rooms audio speaker and tuned it to a song titled.

….. by dunsin onyeka . I smiled immediately the intro of the song began and I took the brush of my hair in one of my drawers and I started singing.

" from my spirit to my soul until my voice re-echoes" and I let my mind, my body , my soul and my spirit be occupied with nothing but joy, God deserved all the praise. I used to feel so insecure but now, now I have a husband, a steady well paying job, a happy family, a peaceful life. The life precedes all things and I was delighted. I moved my hips with every tempo from the song busted with euphoria and at some point , I could feel tears roll down from my eyes , every word from the song resonated with my soul. It was like licking a fresh spiritual mint. My life at this moment was perfect, if I was to be in a story plot, like in an actual novel, there would be no need to write anything at all. My story deserved a full stop write now.

"Hello God, good morning, hello holy spirit, good morning and hello Jesus good morning. Thank you all for aligning my life divinely for making it so perfect, where there is no sadness or hate, you have filled me with so much of you, so much of love, I know that establishing your kingdom and doing, your will is possible because you did all this is in me, lord help there who haven't heard or known you before to grasp your greatness and magnifying power" I said so kneeling down with my hands clenched to my breast and my eyes closed.

" Because my life right now was a perfect example of living in a happily ever after, with her prince charming and her three guardians; one a father, the other a brother and the other my best friend{I am talking about the trinity}"

I got up and rushed down to work, as I got in my car and I headed down straight to work, I nibbled on a pancake in my mouth and I kept my hands on the staring wheel.

"buzz, buzz" my notification on my car's dashboard spoke. I saw a notification pop up from my dashboard. Our fourth year anniversary was coming up, I was so surprised because I almost forgot about it, my mind started preparing the house virtually.

"Hey thane, I am back home" I said as I entered the room with a bag full of decorations and baking materials. I entered the sitting room and I could see grandma and my aunt In law Anita and her step daughter grace.

Her step daughter was somewhat a mystery to me.Grace was a fine lady, ebony dark brown skin that shined like chocolate, with a voice that sounded like a little child in middle school, bright rounded eyes that always carried around eyelashes and a tiny frail but rounded stature. She gave me her usual welcome by batting her eyelids up and down and turning her head back to her phone with a very displeased look. Aunt came and gave me a warm hug and I greeted my aunt, grandma came in and wrapped us both in her arms , holding us in her embrace . she was so warm and friendly and she was one of the family members who would give me tips about . What to prepare to make Thane happy and tips about his likes and dislikes

Grandma Rose

I was so delighted seeing peace, she was holding a lot of groceries but childlike excitement filled her when she saw me , I saw her face lit up. In all my years of living I have never met such a precious and modest woman like herself.

At first I could not imagine my son being married to one of these gen Z's. i mean a generatio with the letter Z, the LAST letter. if i had my way, he would have been a monk!

hmmmmm..With the indomie generation that had been coming up, I was worried that my son might fall into the hands of a woman that would ultimately ruin his life, a woman that would need to be dragged to help him prepare for work, a woman that was pretentious and dishonest.

But no, he found an angel, an angel that brought joy to both his and my life, she was a perfect example of the God kind of woman in the last book of psalms. She walked into the marriage with value, she was hard working and reliable. Oh I loved her. I sensed that my daughter Anita was already getting uncomfortable with the prolongued hug. I released my grip then I hugged peace alone.

"awww Peace, I have missed you so much"

"Grandma, let's not talk about who missed one another"

I heard her say nothing but I know that she was smiling while closing her eyes, hugging me.

She let loose of my grip and she looked at the decorations that she had brought when she entered into the house.

I nodded at her because I knew where she was heading at.

"I, grace and your aunt Anita came here to help you prepare for the celebration"

Grace looked at my way, and gave me a grin, it seemed very light hearted and I looked aunt's rose way and I saw her already heading towards the decoration.

" oh really! Thank you so much."

"you have to get to thane and lure him out of the house while we set up the house"

"oh yes, he would be coming Back four hours from now"

"okay…this is 5 pm now, in the next two hours, you should leave to his work place and keep him away from the house to prevent him from ruining the surprise"

"alright ma'am."
