Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

My mom isn't home yet. She texted earlier, saying she'd be late today. I drop my bag in my room and decide to make dinner before taking a shower. Heading to the kitchen, I gather my ingredients something simple yet comforting: spaghetti and meatballs.

"Siri, play When You Love Someone by Lukas Graham."

"Sure. Playing When You Love Someone."

The soft melody fills the kitchen, setting a warm and dreamy mood. Lost in my thoughts mostly about Pedro I don't notice Romeo walk in until he clears his throat.

I nearly jump out of my skin. Gosh, Romeo! Do you want to give me a heart attack?

He smirks. Lol, I don't like this.

I frown, confused. Like what?

You. Being in love. He grins mischievously. It's written all over you. There's no need to deny it.

I roll my eyes, stirring the sauce. "I don't know what you're talking about."

He leans against the counter, arms crossed. Mmhmm. Sure. I just hope whoever he is knows he's got a gem. Because, sis, you're the best. And if he dares toy with you.

I cut him off, laughing. "You'll kill him? Yeah, yeah, I know."

He chuckles. Exactly. But don't worry, I can see you're confident about this one.

I flash a smug smile. "Of course! He knows he hit the jackpot brains, beauty, and all this." I gesture dramatically to myself.

"You're so full of yourself."

"No, my dear, that's called self-confidence." I playfully flick a dishcloth at him.

My phone pings in my pocket. A text from Angela: How did the date go?

I quickly type back: It's official. I'll call you later, cooking now!

About 40 minutes later, dinner is ready. I set the table, then head to my room for a quick shower. After moisturizing and dressed, I check my phone and smile at Pedro's text:

Pedro: Hey, beautiful. Just checking in on you.

Me: Hey, my love. Just finished dinner. How is your night going ?

I head back to the dining table, where Romeo is already seated. We chat about random things over dinner, and afterward, he helps me clean up. As a reward, I agree to watch a movie with him his pick, of course. Thankfully, it's nothing scary tonight.

The movie turns out to be surprisingly good, and I enjoy the time with my brother. Afterward, I head to my room and settle into bed.

Dialing Angela, I fill her in on today's events, from the coffee date to Pedro's sweet words. About thirty minutes into our conversation, Pedro's name flashes on my screen.

"Angela, I have to go. My man's call is coming in."

She giggles. "Alright, lovebird. Talk tomorrow!", okay sure good night bestie.

Switching calls, I answer, "Hey, beautiful. How is the night are done with dinner already?"

"Hi, my love. It's okay abd yes I'm done, How's yours?"

"It's good, thank you. Just missing my girl." I blush and giggle I miss you too I tell him.

We talk for a while, this time about his family. He tells me about his younger sister, whom he adores, and his strict but loving parents. I love hearing about his world, the little pieces of his life that make him who he is.

Eventually, we both grow sleepy.

"Goodnight, my love," he murmurs.

Goodnight, Pedro.

As I hang up, a warm feeling settles in my chest. I hug my pillow, smiling to myself. This love… it feels real. It feels right.

Three Months Later

Time has flown by, and my relationship with Pedro has only grown stronger. We've spent countless days together, studying, laughing, and supporting each other in everything we do. It's safe to say I'm completely in love with him.

Meanwhile, Angela and I made a new friend on campus Anna, a vibrant and outspoken law student like us. The three of us instantly clicked, and now we're practically inseparable. From study sessions to late-night gossip, we've built a beautiful bond.

Today, we decide to take a break from campus life and treat ourselves to lunch at our favorite little café. The sun is shining, the atmosphere is lively, and we're in high spirits. As we wait for our food, the conversation inevitably turns to relationships specifically, mine.

Angela leans in with a smirk. "So, Miss Lovebird, how's it going with Pedro?"

Anna perks up. "Yes! Spill! Is he still treating you like the queen you are?"

I laugh, shaking my head. "Of course, he is. You know Pedro, always so sweet."

Angela narrows her eyes playfully. "Mhm… sweet. But, girl, tell us have you two, you know…" she wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.

Anna gasps dramatically. "Oh my gosh, yes! Have you guys done it?"

I nearly choke on my drink. "You two are unbelievable!"

Angela grins. "That's not a no!"

I roll my eyes, laughing. "No, we haven't. And we're not rushing. We want things to happen at the right time, you know? We don't want to ruin what we have by rushing into something just because people expect us to."

Anna places a hand over her heart. "Wow. A relationship based on actual feelings and not just physical stuff? You're giving me hope for humanity."

Angela shakes her head. "I mean, I respect that, but girl, the man is fine! If I were you…"

I groan, covering my face. "Angela!"

They both burst into laughter.

Anna waves a hand. "Alright, alright, we'll stop teasing for now. But we better get details when that 'perfect time' comes."

I chuckle, shaking my head. "You two are too much."

Angela suddenly sighs dreamily, stirring her drink. "Speaking of relationships… I think I might have a situation."

Anna and I exchange a look before turning to her. "Oh? Do tell!" I say, intrigued.

Angela bites her lip, a shy smile creeping onto her face. "There's this guy… his name is Brian. He's in the Business faculty, and he's been… well, let's just say, very persistent."

Anna gasps. "Persistent in a good way or a creepy way?"

Angela laughs. "A good way. He's charming, funny, and really smart. He keeps asking me out, but I don't know… I'm not sure if I'm ready to start something serious."

I tilt my head. "But do you like him?"

She hesitates for a moment before nodding. "Yeah… I think I do."

Anna claps her hands together. "Then what's stopping you? Go out with him! You deserve a good guy."

I smile. "Exactly. Take your time, but don't close yourself off to something that could be amazing."

Angela sighs. "You guys are right. Maybe I'll give him a chance."

Anna grins. "That's the spirit! Who knows? We might be planning your wedding next year."

Angela throws a napkin at her. "Don't get ahead of yourself, woman!"

We all burst into laughter, enjoying the moment. Life feels good, friendships feel strong, and love… well, love is blossoming in all the right ways.
