Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

I stared at Pedro's message, my heart fluttering at the thought of a getaway—just the two of us. It felt exciting but also a little nerve-wracking. I knew I had to ask my mom for permission, and with the way she worried, I wasn't sure how she'd take it.

But first, I needed my girls' input.

I quickly texted Angela and Anna:

Lisa: Girls, emergency conference call now!

Seconds later, my phone rang.

Angela: "What's up, babe? You sound dramatic."

Anna: "Spill it, Lisa!"

I took a deep breath. "Pedro wants to take me on a four-day getaway."

A beat of silence. Then—

"AAAAHHH!" they both screamed in unison.

Angela was the first to recover. "No way! Where is he taking you?"

"He didn't say yet. But he said he knows a beautiful place and will make all the arrangements."

Anna sighed dreamily. "Girl, this is so romantic! Just the two of you, away from school, away from everyone… You're going to have the best time!"

"Wait," Angela said. "Does your mom know yet?"

I groaned. "Not yet. That's why I called. You guys know how she is. She's going to overthink everything."

Angela hummed. "True. But if she sees how responsible and serious Pedro is, she might agree."

Anna giggled. "Or just tell her Pedro is taking you on a study retreat."

We all laughed before I sighed. "I'll talk to her tonight when she gets home. Wish me luck."

Later that evening

I waited for my mom to get home, feeling nervous. When she finally arrived, she looked exhausted but in a good mood, which was a plus.

After she had freshened up and settled in, I found her in the kitchen making tea.

"Mom, can we talk?" I asked hesitantly.

She glanced at me, her eyes instantly narrowing. "What did you do?"

I laughed. "Nothing! It's just… Pedro invited me on a short getaway. Just for four days, since we're on break."

She set her spoon down, folding her arms. "A getaway? Where?"

"I don't know yet. He said he has a beautiful place in mind and will make all the arrangements."

Mom sighed, clearly thinking. "Lisa… I trust you, and I trust that boy, but you know how I worry. What if something happens? What if you need me and I'm not there?"

"I promise I'll be careful, Mom. And I'll call you every day to check in."

She was quiet for a moment, then finally nodded. "Alright. You can go—but I want full details of where you'll be staying, and I expect daily updates."

I grinned and hugged her. "Thank you, Mom! You're the best!"

I rushed to my room, grabbing my phone to text Pedro.

Lisa: Guess what? Mom said yes!

Seconds later, my phone rang. I answered with a smile.

Pedro: "Seriously?! That's amazing, babe!"

I giggled. "Yeah, but she made me promise to check in every day."

He chuckled. "Of course. I wouldn't have it any other way. Now, listen—I know the perfect place. It's peaceful, beautiful, and just what we need after exams. I'll take care of the bookings, and in three days, we'll be on our way."

My heart raced with excitement. "I can't wait."

"Me neither, my love. It's going to be unforgettable."

And with that, our little getaway was officially happening.

For the past two days, I've been packing and unpacking my travel bag, unsure of what to take with me. Excitement and nerves have me overthinking everything. Of course, my girls and I went on a little shopping spree—courtesy of my man's money—and I picked up a few essentials for the trip.

But just as I was basking in my pre-vacation high, my mom dropped a bombshell on us. She announced that she's moving to the north permanently, her medical practice already set up and ready. I understood, of course—that's where her husband, Romeo's father, is. My father passed away when I was just a few months old, and three years later, my mom met my stepdad. He's been a great father to us and an amazing husband to my mom. They got married when Romeo was just a year old, so this move makes sense.

The good thing is, she still has a month before she leaves, which means I don't have to deal with the full weight of her absence just yet. There's still time to sit down and talk about it properly.

The Day of Departure

The day is finally here. Pedro picks me up, and damn—my man looks good. He's wearing a white golf t-shirt, denim shorts, and sneakers, looking effortlessly handsome. And the best part? He's driving my favorite car.

I say goodbye to my mom, and Pedro, ever the gentleman, steps out to help me with my bag before greeting her with a respectful wave. As he opens the car door for me, I make a mental note to officially introduce them when we return—especially now that my mom is moving.

Once I'm settled in the car, I glance into the back seat and nearly burst out laughing. There are plastic bags full of snacks and food—way too much for just the two of us.

I turn to Pedro with an amused look.

"What is all this?"

He shrugs, giving me that boyish grin I love. "I know you're a foodie, and I wasn't sure what to get, so I just grabbed a few things."

I raise an eyebrow. "A few? Babe, this looks like you raided an entire grocery store."

He chuckles as I connect my phone to the car's Bluetooth and put on some music.

"Oh, by the way," I say casually. "If you get tired, I can drive."

Pedro shoots me a surprised look. "Wait—you can drive?!"

Grinning, I pull my driver's license from my wallet and hand it to him. He studies it for a second before shaking his head in disbelief.

"Wow, okay. My baby's full of surprises."

He smirks and then says, "I was thinking of taking us to Mokuti Lodge in Etosha, but then I figured Swakopmund would be better. The coast is gorgeous this time of year, and there are so many activities we can do."

I beam at him. "That sounds perfect. I love the coast around this time!"

The Unexpected Stop

About 30 kilometers outside Windhoek, Pedro suddenly pulls over to the side of the road.

I frown. "Babe, are you tired already?"

He unbuckles his seatbelt and turns to me, his gaze darkening with something intense. "No," he says in a low, husky voice. "But you owe me something."

Before I can ask what, he gently cups the back of my head and crashes his lips onto mine in a deep, passionate kiss—hungry, demanding, breathtaking. My whole body ignites with desire, heat pooling low in my belly.

Thank goodness the car windows are tinted because this man has me losing my mind. His hands trail down my body, teasing and exploring, his fingers finding their way beneath my dress. My breath catches as he strokes between my folds, sending shivers of pleasure coursing through me. I grip his arm, trying to steady myself as he circles around my clit and fingering me,but the intensity builds until I can't hold back anymore. My release comes in waves, leaving me breathless and trembling in his arms.

Pedro leans back, his breathing heavy as he grabs some wet wipes from the backseat and cleans me up with gentle care. Then, he presses a lingering kiss to my forehead.

"You'll be the death of me, babe," he murmurs with a smirk.

I giggle, still dazed, and kiss him softly before pulling back. "Okay, lover boy, let's get going before we never leave this spot."

He chuckles as he start the ingine and we continue with our journey, with occasional stops to eat and stretch.

I slide into the driver's seat, taking over the wheel after refilling the car at a petrol station. I drive us from Arandis all the way to Swakopmund,

Arrival at the Lodge

By the time we arrive, I'm beyond excited. The lodge is stunning, with breathtaking ocean views stretching out before us. The bookings are already sorted, so we head straight to the reception, get our room key, and make our way to the suite.

As soon as I step inside, I fall in love with the place. The décor is modern yet cozy, and the best part? A private balcony overlooking the ocean.

Pedro wraps his arms around me from behind, his lips brushing against my ear. "Do you like it?"

I turn in his embrace, looking up at him with a smile. "I love it."

His eyes darken again, filled with unspoken promises. "Good, because we're just getting started."
