By the time Wen Ran finished handling the documents, it was already eleven o'clock.
Stretching her tired body, she was just about to get up to get some water when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing the caller ID, a hint of surprise flashed in her clear eyes. She pressed the answer button and spoke softly, "Hello?"
"It's me. Something came up at noon, so I won't be able to have lunch with you. Aunt Zhang will prepare your meal, and Xiao Liu will bring it to you."
Mo Xiuchen's deep, magnetic voice traveled through the phone. His concise words carried an unmistakable sense of thoughtfulness and genuine concern.
A trace of surprise flickered in Wen Ran's eyes. Not wanting to trouble Aunt Zhang, she quickly declined, "There's no need to trouble Aunt Zhang. I can just eat at the cafeteria."
"If you're going to eat at the cafeteria, wait until after these few days pass. Right now, you need to watch your diet and not overwork yourself. Qin Mu will come to your company this afternoon, and for now, let him handle the factory matters."
Mo Xiuchen's voice was calm and gentle, yet it carried an undeniable sense of authority. Listening to his arrangements, Wen Ran once again felt a warmth in her heart—just like the feeling she had that morning when she saw the specially prepared breakfast.
She was about to respond when she suddenly heard a woman's voice on the other end—one that sounded somewhat familiar.
"Mr. Mo, here are the documents you requested. Assistant Qin was busy, so I brought them over instead."
Wen Ran was slightly startled. That voice… she remembered it—it was Cheng Jia.
"I have some work to do. Let's talk later," Mo Xiuchen said before she could reply. With that, he ended the call.
Wen Ran lowered the phone from her ear and stared at the screen displaying the call duration. Her delicate brows furrowed slightly. After pressing her lips together for a moment, she put her phone away.
At MS Group, Mo Xiuchen casually put away his phone. His deep, dark eyes swept over Cheng Jia, who stood in front of his desk with a bright smile. He flipped open the document on his desk and asked casually, "Have you familiarized yourself with your job responsibilities?"
Cheng Jia beamed, her voice light and cheerful. "Assistant Qin has gone over everything with me. I'm still getting used to it. Mr. Mo, if I have any questions, can I come to you for guidance?"
Seeing him reach for the pen beside him, she quickly picked it up and handed it to him, anticipation evident on her delicately made-up face.
Mo Xiuchen took the pen, signed his name in a bold, elegant script, and glanced at her. His gaze lingered briefly on the mole beneath her chin before he replied indifferently, "You may."
Hearing this, Cheng Jia's face lit up with joy. "Thank you, Mr. Mo! I'll work hard and make sure not to disappoint you."
Mo Xiuchen gave a soft "Mhm" and handed the document back to her, instructing her to return it.
Cheng Jia took the document and hesitated for a moment before asking, "Mr. Mo, I heard that you're meeting an important client for lunch today. May I come along? I'd like to start learning as soon as possible."
Mo Xiuchen's gaze swept over her briefly before he picked up his glass of water and took a sip.
Cheng Jia waited for a response, but after a few moments of silence, her expression faltered slightly. Her grip on the document tightened unconsciously.
Mo Xiuchen finished his drink with practiced elegance, set the glass down on his desk, and finally spoke, his voice calm and unreadable. "Alright, you can come along at noon."
Cheng Jia's eyes lit up with excitement, unable to hide her delight. She quickly responded, "Thank you, Mr. Mo! I'll go back to work now."
As she opened the door, she ran into Qin Mu, who had come to see Mo Xiuchen. She cheerfully greeted him, "Assistant Qin," before walking away briskly.
Qin Mu watched her leave, his face full of confusion. He frowned slightly and stepped into the office. Closing the door behind him, he turned to Mo Xiuchen and asked, "Did Cheng Jia just win the lottery or something?"
