Chapter 2 - 2. Nice Guys Always Lose ,But What About A Fake Nice Guy ?

Did Rin not know the gains of having an engagement with the Sitri family?

With her family's help, he might even be able to rebuild his clan.

Anyone from the underworld would never let go or agree to break off an engagement with the Sitri clan due to the status and influence they could leverage from this.

Sona's thought process was accurate, but Rin wasn't exactly raised in the underworld. Even if he was born there, he still had memories from his previous life, so his character was shaped from the moment he came out of the womb.

Being mistreated from a young age, he didn't care about the Valefor family. He wasn't a child starving for parental affection or something like that.

He wasn't an orphan but just a regular dude like everyone else, with caring parents and an everyday life.

And knowing something about the world of DxD, he knew how troublesome Serafall was. What if this woman tried to kill him for being engaged to Sona?

Clearly, Sona didn't like him. They barely knew each other, so he didn't want to bring all this trouble to his doorstep.

Sona was beautiful, but Rin Valefor was even more handsome. If he wanted to see something beautiful, he could just gaze at the mirror, and it was time to bamboozle her a bit more.

....

"It's not you, but it's me. Believe me, I am just a half-devil, and I really am not worthy to marry you. The matter of feelings cannot be forced, " Rin said gently as he placed his palm over Sona's hand with an apologetic smile, leaving the young woman stumped for words.

Her cheeks flushed at his bold move, but looking at his earnest gaze, she felt he wasn't flirting with her but just trying to comfort her.

'What is even happening?' Sona couldn't help but ask herself.

She came here to get rid of an engagement but got rejected by her fiance, who didn't seem to want her?

Instead of Sona being the one to reject him, she got rejected, and he comforted her like a good guy.

Even if the process was somewhat different from what she had imagined, the outcome was still the same as she had desired—cancelling the marriage agreement.

Then why was she unable to feel happy or any kind of positive emotion...

.....

Still, Sona felt she needed to clear up this misunderstanding because her pride was hurt. She didn't come here to get rejected but to reject!

"*Cough* Actually, I came here to request that you withdraw from the engagement. It's nothing personal, but I do not wish to marry you..." Sona said calmly as she gazed deeply at Rin; she couldn't help but be disappointed when she sensed no negative emotions from him.

Sona clenched her hands under her table as she felt a bit frustrated. She wanted Rin to get angry or annoyed at her words and refuse to cancel the engagement because of it.

{ Her words had a bite to them because she said, "I do not wish to marry you" while saying it was nothing personal when it was clearly personal. She didn't say it like MC, who clearly broke the news gently to her. Sona wasn't being a bitch but just childish she was frustrated that Rin didn't give a damn about the engagement because she was still his fiance. Women~ }

Rin, on the other hand, was amused by Sona's words but still acted like a nice guy.

"Haah~ That's good~. At least no one would get hurt."Rin sighed in relief as he smiled at Sona, making her feel guilty.

Rias, on the other hand, stared at both Sona and Rin in surprise. She could infer Sona's pettiness and provocation from her words. Rin had been nothing but nice, but Sona was still a bit rude with her words. Luckily, Rin didn't take them to heart.

Even if she didn't know him, Rias felt he was leagues better than her fiance, the equivalent of a flaming peacock. Every time she met Riser, the occasion would evolve into a dick-measuring contest, even when she didn't have a dick.

Rias felt like Sona was making a mistake here. She gazed at Rin's handsome profile, Smooth black hair and red eyes ( *Cough* wall mart Raizel *Cough*) and an aura of nobility and grace that she only saw on seasoned devils.

Handsome, gentle, a bit funny, calm, a good number of positive traits that are lacking in young male devils. They might be good-looking, but most had a trash personality that gave her the ick.

He didn't even covet the prestige or status of the Sitri clan, or maybe he was acting. Still, Rias felt he was genuine when he talked about not wanting to marry Sona. (Because he was )

Sona was indeed a bit impulsive this time. Still, as the uninvolved person, Rias decided not to interfere because it wasn't her life. Rias herself was trying to cancel her engagement, so she was in no position to speak.

...

"So what do I have to do? Should I sign a contract or agreement, or should we just tear this contract up? " Rin asked calmly as he picked up the contract from the table.

"This contract was signed by the current Four Satans, so unless you have more status and power than them, then tearing this would be like you are slighting them." Rias said in an awkward tone, as tearing this contract would be akin to an insult, meaning Rin didn't recognise the authority of the Four Satans.

"....."

"...."
