Dropping onto my luxurious king-sized bed, I groaned in frustration.
There was no way my daifuku just got nicked by someone during my fight with that girl- Kiana.
What happened to the trust between people? Well, I guess there wasn't much trust in the first place now that I think about it.
But oh well. Though annoying, there were more... important things to focus on.
Like Kiana Kaslana.
Kaslana wasn't a name that you'd hear on the streets.
Sure there are many exotic names out there, but given Kiana's strength, I sincerely doubt that was just the case.
Hopefully, she didn't have some sort of recording device on her? I really didn't want to block the bullet with my ability, but given it was the first time I got an actual SUPERPOWER from adaptation thus far, I wasn't able to control it well.
That was a problem.
Regardless, there was no point worrying anymore. What's done is done.
All I can do now is prepare myself the best I can for any oncoming storms.
But speaking of my ability...
I pointed my finger at a book sitting on top of my desk.
"Blue"
...
...
Well that went as well as I thought that it would.
What my adaptation had given me during the fight with Kiana was unfortunately not the complete Limitless cursed technique. Instead, it was just Infinity.
I wasn't very surprised though. When the adaptation completed, I had already gotten full knowledge of what adaptation I had gotten. Using it was as instinctual as using my limbs.
Trying out blue was just testing out my luck, as futile as it was.
However, there was a massive upside compared to the true Limitless cursed technique.
I did not need to have the Six Eyes to use it properly.
I could just turn it on and off at will. The way it worked was sort of like a firewall though. I needed to actively blacklist the things I did not want hitting me on the spot.
And that... made things tricky.
Why?
Case in point, a fly I just noticed that had come uncomfortably close to me.
My features contorted in annoyance as the fly slammed into an invisible wall.
So... yeah, it's kinda like Hidden Inventory Gojo's Infinity rather than the one that he has as an adult.
The reasoning of the adaptation was that if it was a whitelist, I'd probably forget a crap ton of things I actually needed for survival and die before my adaptation kicks in to help me survive.
Unfortunately, I wasn't Mahoraga who could fly around a city as just a head.
I am still a human.
And I really didn't dare to test whether I could survive getting turned into a blood mist or even just getting cut in half.
I had a great healing factor, adapted from getting cut, but I don't think it's good enough to protect me.
As for how I was getting cut?
Just... don't ask.
The thing was as well that my adapting... isn't the fastest in the world.
It does happen, but it's a bit slow compared to what I expected.
Was it a limitation? Was the the limits that my adaptation could go?
Or perhaps... I was lacking something?
Tossing a pen that I had taken from my bedside drawer into the air, I lazily watched it drop on top of my finger as it slowly came to a halt.
One thing that intrigued me the most however, was, for the first time in 14 years, I had actually adapted a SUPERPOWER!
All this time, it's just been strength increases and skill improvements in anything I was struggling in.
Now don't get me wrong. That in of itself was absurdly powerful. But I had always known that adaptation could do far more than just that.
So colour me surprised when I actually gotten Infinity today.
Was it just a coincidence that I this happened just as I met Kiana? A girl whose strength was clearly supernatural?
That seemed... unlikely.
There was a chance that it was just a coincidence of course. Maybe my adaptations had been building up a lot in the past few years and this was just a breaking point?
Deactivating Infinity, I put away my thoughts as I headed off to bed.
Today was a surprisingly tiring day. I normally don't get tired that easily but ehhh it was kinda chaotic today so it made sense.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahh, school. How I hate you.
Why I say that you may ask?
Well, I was a businessman already in my past life. Though it was wayyy busier than school, it was kinda fun doing the things I actually wanted to do rather than studying chemistry.
Screw chemistry man.
Thankfully, adaptation finally helped me get my A's in chemistry. That helped massively in abating my hatred towards the subject.
Still, school was just... kinda boring for me.
I didn't need to do this stuff. But I had to. The law kinda forces me to.
Luckily, it's just one more year before I can finally get out of this place. I am relatively well off already in this world.
Stepping into Chiba Academy, I could not help but hear the commotion as I noticed a girl with deep violet hair, walking into the school building with her entourage behind her.
What was her name again?
The only impression I have of her was that everyone called her... well...
The Queen of Thunder?
I dunno about that bro. I wouldn't be able to live down high school with a name like that. But ehh, different countries different social customs I guess?
Now what was her name again? Makoto? Yae?
"Ahh, Mei-senpai is just so cool~" a girl near me swooned.
Oh yeah. Mei. That was her name I guess.
She was the kid of some Japanese billionaire.
Meh, it didn't really matter to me. Better to not get caught up with that huge group of people glazing her.
That group... I didn't get a good feeling from them, but I just couldn't place my finger on it yet.
Regardless, I think it'd be prudent to heed my gut's warnings.
When I arrived at the classroom, I quickly went to reclaim the throne that belonged to me.
The protag window seat.
That way, I, could probably catch up on some episodes of Homumon(a very clear Digimon ripoff).
No one came to bother me, and I liked it that way.
Kids are kinda stupid. I don't really have the mood to entertain their weird thinking fashions.
With the ring of the school bell, the students went back to their seats. As the teacher walked into the classroom, there was a smile on her face.
"Students. Today, we will be having a new student joining our class."
Ok
Don't ca-
Wait...
New student?
The immediate day after that fight with Kiana?
What the fuck?
Is this actually gonna be the beginning of some sort of anime series or something? Did I go to one of those worlds??
Those worlds where it starts out all nice and bubbly.
Then shit proceeds to hit the fan and then it's world apocalyptic scenario one after the other.
...
...
Fuck me.
My dismay, unfortunately, went unnoticed. Though I don't think it would matter even if it was as the teacher continued speaking.
"Please come in and introduce yourself."
The classroom door slid open.
A familiar white-haired menace stepped in, her sharp blue eyes scanning the room.
She seemed to want to say something, but the moment her gaze landed on me, she froze.
The teacher seemed to interpret her actions as being shy, so she prodded the white-haired girl- Kiana.
"Come on now. Don't be-" She was immediately interrupted however, by a loud shout.
"HUH?!! YOU'RE HERE TOO?!!" Kiana's finger was pointed directly at me.
With that, the entire class turned to look at me.
My eye twitched.
Man...
I really should have skipped school today.
