Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Testing

The boy's brown hair turned half white and his light green eyes had turned orange. The instant this happened the big pink bubble was teleported into the boy's room, and before long Lucas's long hair and eyes turned back to normal.

The boy's eyes closed as he fell asleep deeply while his parents held him.

The parents looked around in shock as they laid their son to bed while looking around.

"Should we...Test him for his gifts? Our son just saved our lives, but no normal child is capable of this kind of power." My wife said nervously trying to come to terms with the insane day they just experienced.

"We will do some quick tests, but anything deeper will have Lucas's involvement. It is time for Lucas to know the truth, we have been hiding too many things from him.

Our son being awake for the testing will clue him into what's going on. Emma, no matter what comes up, he is still our son in the end. He only needs to learn like a hunter. We won't shelter him any longer." I said as I thanked my lucky stars for this second chance at life.

'I guess I'm not going to hell after all..' I thought as I started to giggle at my situation.

"I'll listen to your advice for once, Emma. I agree that we need to change and really start to teach him about what we are as a family.

Even if we don't teach him, his gifts have shown us he is already part of the supernatural world whether we like it or not. The least we can do for him as parents is teach him how to protect himself." I said as my conviction solidified in my heart.

. . .

"Silver came back negative, same with salt. He's not a ghost or some sort of werewolf. Holy water didn't affect him, so he's not possessed by a demon. The Angel rejection spell you completed didn't do anything. So our son wasn't used as a vessel for those scammers. But Honey, am I missing anything else" I asked as I sighed while putting all the tools down for the test kit.

"Try rosemary, garlic, and some purified ash. That might bring some sort of reaction if he's a monster." She insisted while reading her grimoire about monster weaknesses and testing kits.

"Well, he's not a beyonder since none of those tests came up positive... Honey, do you have any idea what might come up later on?" I asked while monitoring his health to see any abnormal fluctuations on my wife's spell orb.

'What about his cursed energy...' I thought before I started another test.

*Warp*

*Warp*

A long bone dry brown hairy arm with five fingers, purple nails, and a black bandage wrapping around it appeared out of thin air on the bed. The next moment a silver bucket filled with a purple liquid right on top of the bedsheets. I had placed the bucket of purple water on the side of the bed as I started chanting. The bandaged arm just lay beside the bucket as it had now started to radiate a bluish-black flame around it.

"Impure wish, Impure hand, let know what I seek!" I said aloud as the arm on the group floated to my hand, as it kept squirming in my grip.

Soon enough I held the arm over the before chanting one more thing.

"Feed!" I said with a serious tone.

With both my hands I slowly dipped the arm into the bucket. Before long as it reached the water the once dry arm became lively as it started to wiggle even more often.

"(Monkey's Paw)" I said aloud as one of the 5 fingers on this arm broke itself.

*Snap*

'My son's cursed technique is still broken, but now his cursed energy is still in a semi-active state as he sleeps... Whatever happened, he probably can see cursed spirits more clearly after he wakes up.' I thought as I unsummoned the (Monkey's Paw)& Feeding Bucket.

"Honey Bear, can you not bring that (Monkey's Paw) out anymore... It's rather disgusting to look at!" My wife said as she plucked a hair from our boy's head and started chanting in Ancient Latin as her green eyes glowed pink as she was chanting.

"Fine, but what tests am I going to do next?" I asked as I had written down my discoveries in the book my wife had given me before we started testing our son.

"Test his blood with this method." My wife said as a flying note reached my face as I had read it.

'That's not that complex. I didn't know you could test your blood for special properties using this method...' I thought as I then started to follow her instructions faithfully.

I added a few grams of crushed mana stone dust in a crystal flash, along with 10 drops of blood. I kept shaking the concoction till the small amount of red dust turned into a dark red mud ball.

I kept shaking the flask in till the red mud ball kept expanding and shrinking till it became a clay-like substance. Instead of it's previous red, it turned crimson with multiple specks of gold held within.

"Emma, Is this how you do it? I think I messed up your ritual..." I said while looking at this marble-sized crimson clay sphere with lots of gold specks contained within.

"Hmm, decent work, but it could have been done better... But it's good enough for you, Honey Bear. Oh, you managed to highlight one of our child's gifts hidden within his blood successfully!" She said as she looked at the flask with a smile.

She grabbed the flask and lifted it to her nose to smell it.

"It smells like freshly cut grass mixed with a citrus-type smell. Lemons... No, it's more like... a mandarin orange. It smells sweet, but it also smells like mint lead mixed all together." She said as I watched her.

'Gold specks. Smells like citrus fruit and has a mix of mint... All those hints point towards a kind of purification ability.' She thought.

6 hours later. . .

"We are all clear, but from the looks of it our son is perfectly fine." I said while I sat down on the edge of our son's bed.

I looked around my son's bed, only to notice his basic light green bed sheets and pillow covers. I kept looking at his bed and found a chocolate bar hidden under his pillow. But I left it alone as my wife was making lemonade on her own.

She used a translucent blue arm crafted from her mana to mix the extra fruits she added as she then added the peeled lemons and the mana hand squeezed them into the large water pitcher. Her last move while making the drink was to summon ice directly into the drink's water pitcher.

'No sugar? Oh ya, Sweeting spell. I forgot Emma is still in her health nut phase...' I thought while giggling a bit.

"While we haven't done everything yet. At the very least, we confirmed he's not in any real danger for now. He's not in some sort of immediate danger." My wife replied as she started to drink some lemonade before sharing some with me.

"Remember, we'll do the deeper tests later once he wakes up." I said before drinking some lemonade.

"Yes, but if he's still himself, we will ---" She said before I interrupted her.

"Love him no matter what." I said, finishing my wife's sentence with a small.

We both started giggling as we both drank the lemonade in peace after a very... very... long day...

As we sat on the gray carpet together, leaning against each other and drinking juice together with our backs to our son's bed, I could only wonder how this all happened. My mind started to wander as I started to remember just how normal our plane trip was before that disaster showed up out of nowhere.
