The next day in the village.
"We reviewed all the tablets with the priest, and your progress is worthy of the knowledge of the gods", I told them, excited by what they had accomplished. "Although I only reviewed a couple, Simte did the rest", I thought.
"That's great", most of them said, relieved.
"Now we'll review some words to verify that you know the alphabet well, and then you'll group together to establish the first writings of our culture. Each group will write about the territory, animals, trees, among other things. And each of those words must come with a definition and its characteristics next to it", I explained to the priests. "I'll give you an example. The mountain would be written this way, and it should have its description next to it using our new script, as it is done on this tablet", I said, handing the tablet to the High Priest, who then handed it to the nearest priest.
They spent a few minutes discussing the words and their definitions, looking at the example I had written the day before. Everyone seemed to understand the concept of writing and its definition, so the creation of our culture's first written archive could be left in their hands.
"Now that everyone understands, these tablets will be placed in a house where knowledge will be stored, and this will be called a library", I told them all. "I hope that in a couple of days I can go with my mother to the library and learn all the earthly knowledge I don't know", I told them with a bit of authority. I hoped they would be very diligent, and that this practice would help them improve their language skills or that they might also be able to add their own ideas.
"It will be done as the Son of Heaven says", they all said, including the High Priest.
"By the way, the High Priest will guide the group in charge of writing about our gods. I will review their writings as soon as they are finished and add any missing knowledge", I told them all, demonstrating the importance I placed on the gods.
A few weeks later.
"And I thought everything would be easier", I thought as I recalled all the meetings I had with the messengers.
News didn't travel as quickly as it did in the future, but it still arrived. The only problem was that this delay could create unnecessary problems, but once the cities were connected by trade, they would be able to further improve their information management.
The formation of the towns wasn't without its problems, and each one had its own set of difficulties. The most problematic were those in the north, west, and south. However, the center didn't have many problems since there was a large town in which to build bases. In the case of the east, as it is my father's domain, together we were able to mobilize people without problems.
The first problem the cities faced with conflicts was that people refused to lose their land and move to a town that was already established. According to what the messengers said, this was because, although they didn't own the land as is known in the future, by occupying it, they are, in a sense, the owners of that land. The problem was such that the priests had to intervene and calm the people, promising them a better future, or rather, threatening them with the wrath of the gods.
"It seems that controlling religion will be one of the most crucial steps if I want them to progress", I thought, noticing the respect shown to the gods compared to the future.
Another problem arose, and in this case, it concerns the southern city. It directly borders villages of varying sizes that control part of the mountain range that continues south. These villages do not belong to the same ethnic group as ours, and even their language is different. According to the information I was given, we have no war relations with them, but the smaller villages that are closer together often have minor skirmishes at worst, or just robberies at best.
"I didn't think I'd have to deal with battles at such a young age. Not even Kratos was in this situation", I thought as I sat comfortably in the command center lounge. This is a newly built house, much larger in size, so that meetings can be held for both leaders and priests.
"Son of Heaven, the messengers will leave in the afternoon after their meeting with you", Simte said with the same respectful tone as always.
"I understand. I would have liked to send you my orders on the tablets, but you still can't read", I said with a bit of annoyance. "Not everything can progress like in the games", I thought resignedly.
"Before the first meeting of the Great Leaders, you will be able to read as Son of Heaven ordered", Simte told me, trying to console me.
"Speaking of reading, how is the progress going on what I requested?", I asked, changing the subject.
"We've made some samples of what you call 'paper,' but we haven't managed to make it completely strong. If you hold it too tightly, it falls apart", Simte said, explaining the result of papermaking.
"You can try other plants or trees. I could even make it thicker to make it stronger", I suggested.
"We'll try what you suggest, Son of Heaven", Simte replied, accepting my suggestion.
"For the next visit of the messengers, we must send written orders", I told Simte.
"Everything will be ready by the next moon", Simte assured me.
After finishing my conversation with the High Priest, I went to my mother, who was waiting outside the new building. We returned home and went about our ordinary lives, as if I weren't an important part of our people's decision-making. In my home, I was just a baby a little over a year old, enjoying the affection of his mother and playing with his father.
Afternoon.
"Messenger from the south, I will begin with you because your orders will be the most important", I told the messenger from that city to get his attention. "Your leader must maintain relations with that village as they are now. We will not attack them, but we will defend ourselves. In addition, the priest of your city must try to mediate with the nearest large village of your people, so that they send emissaries of your religion and a leader", I instructed the messenger.
"As you command, young Chuta", he said.
"Messenger from the center, in your case you will only have to tell your leader that he can maintain the growth rate of his village, and that in your next dispatch of information, I will send him some plans that can help with food storage for the winter", I told the messenger from that city.
"As you command, young Chuta", the messenger said, just like the previous one. "Messenger of the West, I have only one order for your leader. I need you to find the closest route to the rivers to the west, and if possible, begin construction of a village", I ordered the messenger from the western city.
"I will deliver your orders, young Chuta", he said.
"Finally, messenger of the north, the orders for your leader are to expand your population as well as the center, but I also need you to move north of the mountain range, looking for new places to establish villages", I told the messenger from that city.
"Young Chuta, may I tell you something?", the messenger asked. "Messenger", Simte said firmly, trying to remind him of his place in this meeting.
"No need to bother, High Priest", I told Simte, calming his anger. "I like people who think for themselves. This shows us that this messenger may have been blessed with wisdom by the gods… I am listening", I said in my loudest voice. I was trying to make them understand that I would be open to opinions. "Sir, we know routes to the rivers. According to what we know from our ancestors, this river originates near the southern city, where our mountain range meets the western mountain range. I believe this river may also pass very close to the western village", he told me, a little timidly at first, but then gained confidence in what he was saying when he saw my attention on him.
"Is that so? Do any of you know anything?", I asked the western and southern messengers.
"Yes, we also know routes to this river. According to what the elders said, it ends in the great northern lake. However, we don't know its origin, since it is in the territory of the southern people", the southern messenger said with a little more confidence, seeing that I expected his participation in the discussion.
"That is very good news", I told everyone. Now the decisions to build towns near the river are for all the large cities near the river", I told them happily. However, I must have controlled my emotions because I involuntarily uttered a babble, which made me feel very uncomfortable.
"We understand", said the messenger from the north, west, and south.
"Finally, this is a message to all your leaders. Our people need to grow more than ever, so you should not limit the number of children your city has. Also, tell them not to worry about food; in the coming years, we will collect more and more food, and we will be able to grow in number. We are doing this not only to have more of our people, but also so that the gods will have more believers", I told them all seriously.
"We will listen to your orders", they all said.
After finishing giving the orders, everyone left in their respective directions, leaving only Simte and me in the command center lounge.
"Thank you for doing all this for the gods", Simte said respectfully. It seemed that everything that had to do with the gods was of vital importance to him.

Hello to all readers.
Chuta (the main character) is now beginning to become directly involved in his people's decisions.
