Chapter 1 - Just Another Boring Day

Most humans live the same generic life.

Wake up in the morning. Eat breakfast.

Prepare for work.

Take the early morning bus.

Destroy there hopes and dreams further in a nine-to-six job.

Suffer criticism from society.

Get scorned by your superiors.

Enter the last bus home.

Eat a half-hearted dinner.

Back to sleep.

Then repeat.

Even children follow the unspoken laws of human life, just in a different way.

Few of us have more in life.

Like the ones who fill the internet with joyous videos.

Well, don't show us your fucking crap; we know you have a better life than us.

So keep it to yourself.

A young man with a faint stubble on his jaw, messy hair and a tattered suit.

He was just one of the many people on the public bus, without purpose.

Just another forgotten extra in the world.

But he didn't care; he was eating, had a roof over his head, and could breathe. What else could he need?

This was the lie Seoyoung used to comfort himself.

Yes, there was no other purpose to life.

But today the always grumpy man wore a gentle, slightly crooked smile.

His favourite web novel had finally reached its climax.

Waiting everyday patiently for a series wasn't easy, especially when it always stopped on a cliffhanger, and then the next chapter started off with a side cast's POV.

But he had finally made it.

Chapter 1308 - Matthew's ascension

"Finally." He muttered, gripping his phone tightly.

The suspense had killed him.

He wanted to know how Arden, the Emperor of Dragons, would die at the main character's hand.

The battle arc had been going on for over a month, and it was finally ending.

His black dead eye that screamed of exhaustion fixed on the screen.

Seoyoung devoured every word faster than he ever read any work document.

The bus passed his usual stop, but his eyes were fixed somewhere else.

He had to imagine and paint the image of the fight, every move, every word; he had to register them all.

Soon the end of the chapter drew near, and as Seoyoung finished it, his face twisted.

"He died..... Matt died."

Silence. Seoyoung couldn't believe what he saw.

Yes, he was a fan of massive plot twists and intricate power systems, but this? This was just bullshit.

He looked out the window, signalling the driver to stop. His smile had vanished, replaced by a stern frown.

Disbelief. Rage. Betrayal. He felt them all.

The air felt ordinary again.

Life felt ordinary.

And his last solace was no more.

Seoyoung hated it.

Gripping his chest tightly, he screamed.

"NOOOOOO!!"

He didn't care what people would think of him or if society would mock him.

He just wanted to let out his pent-up frustration.

He looked at his phone again, hoping it was just an AI-generated chapter and that the main novel hadn't been released yet.

But no matter how much he looked at it, it didn't disappear; he always read the novel in the official app just so he could support the author, and he knew that this was the author's style of writing.

The hateful comments talked for themselves.

The fanbase was disappointed.

All their theories. All their bragging. Everything had ended with just one chapter.

But this day wasn't going to unfold like every normal day he had.

A single heartbreak had distorted it.

A heartbreak that made him make a desperate choice.

He picked up his phone and searched a number he never thought he would use.

"Hello, boss."

"Mr Kim, you are five minutes late; better expect a pay cut."

'Still as shitty as ever.'

Two million won per month – that was barely enough for him. He worked more than others, but this was always the treatment he received.

He had to say it; his stomach twisted at only the thought of his impulsive actions.

But he had to do it.

"I'm quitting." He mumbled

"What? What do you mean by that, Mr Kim? I won't take an apology if you come back begging. Now I am giving you only five minutes to get here."

He said it, the words came out.

Something he couldn't do since his five years of working for Stars Corps.

High school life was non-existent.

University life was also non-existent.

Graduated at twenty-three, with no friends or social life.

"Did you not hear me, you bastard? I said I quit; I'm done. I'm not your freaking errand boy."

A wide grin, tears, and a burst of emotions.

"You think I'm a slave; yeah, fuck you, I'm free, you bastard. Do you hate me being free?"

A loud laugh escaped his dry lips.

He didn't care if everyone in the world thought he was a madman.

He was finally free.

But then the world burled. Everything glitched.

Or was he the one glitching?

'What the hell....?'

His vision warped. His reality shattered.

In an instant, it reformed, and a loud voice rang in his head.

APPLICANT KAISER VANGUARD VERSUS HESTIA ROSWELL

'Huh.....Hu...Huh'

BOOM

A large fireball roared past him.

Before Seoyoung could even blink the ground behind him shattered

A figure stood in front of him, but he was too distorted to notice.

He was just on the street of Seoul a minute ago.

But he wasn't in Seoul anymore.

He now stood on a stage filled with crowds happily cheering.

'Where am I....?'

The impossible had happened.

A reality that was only possible through the pages of his favorite webnovel.

Something that to others it will be called childish and immature.

He was inside his favourite novel.
