Chapter 4 - Help! I Accidentally Became the Vampire Prince’s Servant

CALEB

I watched Dominic and Vincent with a girl who looked exactly like him, walking away with some fella in dark, expensive clothing. They had an army of black clothed dudes swarming behind them. And I was just curious. Who was that guy? And why did they call him Regent?

"That's Damian Silvermist." A fair skinned girl in ponytails giggled with her friends.

"Silvermist… where have I heard that name?" I muttered to myself.

Curiosity got the best of me and the next thing I knew, I was following them.

I couldn't get past the regal mahogany doors they walked through but I pressed my ears to it, hoping I'd listen to whatever it was they were saying. Despite my effort, it all came out muffled.

I tried peeking through the keyhole to see what was happening inside when I felt myself floating off the floor. For a second, I thought my powers were manifesting until the door clicked open and I was shoved inside.

"Caleb? What are you doing here?" Dominic has his eyes widened in surprise. Even the vampire dude was shocked. Had I walked in on something important? Well, not walked. I was flung into the room.

"You know that chick?" The girl who looked exactly like the vampire guy asked with surprise.

"I'm not a chick. I'm a boy." I said, trying to stand up but a heavy hand shoved me to the ground.

"Forgive him, Sir Damian. He's the human student I was ordered to escort." Dominic said with a frigid tone and I wondered what was going on.

The leader of the group whom I had recognized to be Prince Damian, turned towards me, his piercing red gaze locking onto mine.

"Hmm," Prince Damian ran his tongue over his bottom lip. "Fresh meat."

Wait. What?

I flinched and suddenly wished the ground would open and swallow me whole. What was I thinking following Dominic? There are literal vampires in here!

"Little Firefly, I am Prince Damian, leader of the Student Council." Damian said in an aristocratic voice.

I blinked twice in confusion. Who's firefly and where's the Council?

"You have broken rule number three : No one may interrupt the Council's discussion. Did no one tell you this or are you feigning ignorance?" He declared in a low, commanding voice that shot a shiver down my spine.

Rule number what?

I noticed the stern looks on the other student's faces and I realized I had fucked up. Big time.

Jesus Christ.

The Council members, including Dominic, turned towards me, their faces pinched.

The only dark skinned girl in the team with curly brown hair drizzling down her shoulders, observed me with interest. There was something peculiar about her green eyes that made me want to ask where she got her contacts.

The brunette standing next to her narrowed her eyes while Dominic, the vampire and his twin, stared at me with concern.

Damian's eyes darkened and so did his tone. "You've broken one of my unbreakable rules, human."

I felt another shiver run down my spine. "I - I'm sorry."

"That's not a word I'm familiar with." A grin appeared on his lips and I closed my eyes. No one needed to tell me that I was done for.

Silence fell over the room and for a moment I couldn't feel my heart beat anymore.

"Leave us. All of you." Prince Damian ordered, his eyes never leaving mine.

The team scattered, leaving just me and Damian.

"Human," Damian drawled, his deep-plum eyes roaming my face in the most uncomfortable way. "You're quite the bold one splattering in here like a firefly."

"I didn't fly into this room. I was shoved inside." I wanted to say but I couldn't. He could kill me for it.

"You see… I am very annoyed." he stepped closer and my heart skipped a beat.

"And you do not wish to cross me," he went on. "Curiosity can be fatal."

He leaned in closer, his breath whispering against my ears. "You're already on thin ice."

I shivered at the warning. He was going to kill me. So I'm going to die? Just because I was eavesdropping on a conversation I barely heard. Who the heck dies on their first day of school?

"But don't worry. You won't die today," Damian flashed me a grin and I swallowed my non-existent saliva. "I will take good care of you for eternity."

I nearly screamed. "Wait. What?"

His eyes gleamed, the sinister grin still plastered on his full pink lips. "You will serve me, Firefly. Body and Soul."

"P - please." My pulse quickened as I pleaded for mercy.

"Shh," Damian whispered, his lips grazing my ears. "This is a fate worse than death I'm sure you'll very much enjoy."

I swallowed hard again.

He whispered again this time, enunciating every word. "You. Will. Be. Mine."

The next few minutes flew by in a flash. One second, I was on my knees begging for forgiveness and the next, I was trudging behind Prince Damian.

We arrived at our destination and my mouth fell open.

The room was something I had never seen. The white furniture looked like a mix of leather and glass, the black and white draperies looked so expensive that I bet they'll buy my entire generation. From the soft, mushy rug under my bare feet to the regal paintings on one side of the wall, this place screamed luxury and comfort. This room was ten times bigger than the one I had back at one. One thing was certain though. There was no way in hell that this room would be mine.

"Umm, Your Highness, what am I doing here?" I palmed the back of my neck as I watched him peel off his jacket.

"You'll be staying here." Damian said in a firm voice.

"Wait. What?" Before I knew it, those words fell out of my mouth and I instantly regretted it.

"Are you saying 'No' to me, Firefly?" Damian shifted his gaze to mine and my blood froze.

I stuttered terribly. "N - No. I would never - -"

My objections were cut off when the Vampire twins walked in with Dominic.

"Ummm….Damian?" The girl twin said, looking at me like I was some burnt cake. "What's he doing here?"

"What do you mean? He's staying here?" Damian flicked his finger at me and I rushed to his side unsure of what to do.

"My shoes." He said and I went on my knees to unlatch the buckle. Never in my life had I thought of doing this to my fellow dude.

"He's staying here?" The trio were shocked. I didn't need to look at their faces to know.

The vampire girl cut in. "B - but Prince Damian, is that a wise decision?"

"When have I ever been wrong, Valentine?" Damian said, fisting my hair as I took off one shoe.

Asshole.

Valentine protested. "But sir…"

"My decisions are not up for debate." Damian countered again, this time more coldly than before.

"As you wish, Your Highness," Valentine bowed her head. "Will I have a maid fix your bath and meal? Your siesta begins in a few minutes."

"There won't be a need for a maid and I won't be having my siesta. I'll be attending class today." Damian's reply seemed to have shocked everyone because they all gasped.

I looked at their faces and I was stunned. Mouths hung low and eyes widened open. They were extremely shocked.

"Classes begin in a few minutes. Leave us." Damian's voice cut through the air and released them from their frozen spell.

"As you wish, Your Highness." They all bowed before leaving the room.

Holy crap.

I had succeeded in taking off both his boots and stood to my feet. Hello, Calebrella.

Damian turned to me. "Ready my bath. I like it cold. I had breakfast on my way here so there'll be no need for that. My uniforms are in the walk-in-closet. Yours will be here in no time. Chop chop."

Excuse me?

"What are you still standing there for?" He glared at me and I dropped the shoe in fear.

"Shit." I picked them back up. Why was he sending me on an errand all of a sudden? Didn't he say he was going to take care of me for all eternity a few minutes ago or did I read too many dark romance novels?

"Go." He snapped his finger and I ran to the first door I laid my eyes on.

The bathroom was similar to the one on earth. I had expected some magical, fancy type of bathroom that would complicate the heck out of my dull brain but I didn't.

I ran the bath in the jacuzzi making sure it was as cold as ice. When it was ready, I called out to his jerk Highness to come take a bath. He didn't answer.

Are you freaking kidding me right now?

I walked into the living space and found him cross-legged on a cane chair, sipping some kind of tea while reading a book. What the hell!

"Sir, the bath." I tried not to sound annoyed but my voice betrayed me.

"Good." He slapped the pages of the book shut and leapt to his feet.

He walked past me to the bathroom door when I heard him echo. "From now on, you're my shadow, Firefly," Damian smiled. "Where I go, you go."
