Chapter 28 - Chapter 27: Shadows of the Past

The night was deep, and Su Dazhuang stood on the balcony, silently smoking a cigarette. He had left the martial world over twenty years ago, living the life of an ordinary person, never thinking he would step into that world again.

But now, his daughter had fallen in love with a wanted criminal, a man who had brutally murdered his own family.

He closed his eyes, and scenes from many years ago flashed through his mind—himself, once a dominant figure in the martial world, fighting alongside Black Bear. At that time, he and Black Bear were known as the "Twin War Gods of the Gang," unmatched in both martial arts and weaponry. However, for the sake of giving his wife and future child a stable life, he resolutely left the martial world, returning to a life of normalcy.

"Dad, you're not asleep yet?" Su Yan walked softly onto the balcony, looking at her father's pensive figure.

Su Dazhuang snapped out of his thoughts, took a deep drag of his cigarette, and slowly exhaled, "Yan'er, do you really like him that much?"

Su Yan nodded, her eyes filled with determination, "Yes, Dad."

Su Dazhuang was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, "You know what he's done, and you know his current situation. Even so, you still want to find him?"

"I just want to find out the truth, to know what he's really thinking…" Su Yan's voice trembled slightly, "I don't believe he's a person without feelings or principles."

Su Dazhuang nodded slowly, walked over to her, and reached out to ruffle her hair, "Alright, if you want to, then I'll help you."

Su Yan's eyes widened, looking at her father in disbelief, "Dad, you… you're willing to help me?"

Su Dazhuang sighed softly, his eyes deep, "I've been out of the martial world for over twenty years, never thinking I'd step back in. But for you, I'm willing to bear this karma."

Su Yan's eyes reddened slightly, looking at her father gratefully, "Dad, thank you…"

Su Dazhuang didn't say anything more, just patted his daughter's shoulder gently, then turned and went inside. He opened an old, dusty wooden cabinet, and pulled out a yellowed phone book. It was filled with the contact information of people from his past in the martial world.

His gaze stopped on a familiar name, and a faint smile appeared on his lips, "Black Bear… old friend, it seems we'll be meeting again."
