CHAPTER 3
What would happen if the very idea of destruction and chaos became embodied in flesh, DEVIL'S, agents of catastrophe, capable of turning the greatest civilizations into nothing but piles of rubble and ash, His mother had told him so many stories that the mental image he had were as vivid as memories causing the birth of the fear that made his body freeze in place, as he stared at one in total disbelief, he body shivered uncontrollably, he was unable to move his feet, tears fell down his eyes but there was no sound of crying only the realization that his death that was a mere probability moments ago had just become imminent, It resembled a human but was double the size of an average man, Hard vibrant oxblood skin covered with cuts, bruises and its own blood, it's eyes were closed and it's large mouth open as it drew in shallow but loud breaths
"HUMAN" he heard a deep husky voice say but it wasn't through his ears, it played directly in his mind
"HUMAN" it called out again, he could feel his heart beating faster and faster
"Who are you, what is this ?" he asked the voice but no words came out of his mouth but the sound of his voice played in his thoughts
"I AM WHAT IS BEFORE YOU AND THIS IS A TEMPORARY PSYCHIC LINK THAT ALLOWS US TO CONVERSE" The voice explained, the word's sent a cold chill to his spine as the fear of death ate into him
"What do you want" he asked, every word sounding like a cold shiver
"TO HELP YOU" the voice answered and the devil In front of him opened it's glowing purple eyes
"I don't need help" he replied while taking a cautious step backwards and putting on a brave face but still his legs shook terribly, the voice let out an ominous chuckle that put even more fear in him before it said
"WITH ONE LOOK I CAN TELL THE STATE YOU ARE IN, THE ODDS OF YOUR SURVIVAL ARE CLOSE TO NONE, IF LEFT ALONE YOU WILL PERISH" , his eyes widened and he felt his stomach suddenly sink but before the fear could completely consume him, he took another look at the devil, it's body was covered in its own blood and on even closer inspection at the parts of it that had been partially hidden by the shadows of the cave he saw that one of its hands was missing and the other was twisted to a point it would be practically unusable, a bleeding gap at its side and a large slash that ran down from it's chest down to it's waist, it was in worse shape than him, a fake smile curved his lips in an attempt to portray confidence
"You're not one to talk about survival" he said as calmly as possible, There was a silence then it spoke again
"IN THAT SENSE YOU ARE RIGHT, I'M NOW CLOSER TO DEATH THAN I HAVE EVER BEEN" it admitted
"Then how could you possibly help me if you can't help yourself" he asked now becoming even more confident, he had noticed his legs had almost stopped shaking then it chuckled again, this time the sound was filled with so much animosity that beads of sweat began forming on his forehead
"HUMAN, YOU'VE SEVERELY MISUNDERSTOOD " it said then from its body a heavy gust of wind went right past him and hit the wall behind him leaving a massive dent on the wall, the cracks spread from the dent like ripples in a stream as the whole cave shook from impact, Suddenly all the confidence he had been feeling dissipated like it had never been there
"JUST BECAUSE I AM IN THIS STATE DOES NOT MEAN IM HOPELESS" it said, he couldn't see it but he could feel the amount of power pulsating from the monster in front of him
"I DO NOT NEED YOUR PERMISSION TO DO WHAT I WANT TO DO, I'D JUST PREFER TO HAVE IT"
"How do you want to help me?" he asked as he realized that his resistance would mean nothing
"I WANT TO TRANSFER MY POWER TO YOU, SO IT WONT BE LOST IN MY DEATH" it answered, he faked a laugh
"You want to take over my body?" he asked hysterically
"NO"
"I don't believe you"
"LIKE I SAID, I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE OR TRY TO DECEIVE YOU"
"How can I trust you?"
"HUMAN, IF I WANTED TO TAKE OVER YOUR BODY I WOULS HAVE DONE IT THE MOMENT YOU WALKED IN"
"I can't trust a devil's words"
"WHAT??" it said in disbelief "WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO PROTECT, THIS PATHETIC EXISTENCE THAT YOU CALL A LIFE!!"
"Might be pathetic but it's mine" He said sternly, He knew the devil wasn't bluffing about being able to take over him without his consent but he rather it be by force than cause he was naive
"I UNDERSTAND, SO LET ME SHOW YOU SOMETHING" the devil said then went quiet, he stood still for a few seconds waiting for it to come back but there was no sound, He took a step forward and looked closer at the eyes of the devil, the bright glow had dimmed significantly
"He…" before he could finish speaking a ray shot from it's eyes straight into his, allowing for no resistance as his mind went blank.
He saw himself in a dark space, sitting on the floor while someone stood before him, not a devil but a man, the man's face wasn't hidden but for some reason he couldn't see it, taking a step forward the man came closer to him and leaned down to his level
"Now you'll see" the man said with a voice that sounded like the echoes of a crowd, the man placed two fingers on his head and both their heads shot up as their eyes turned white, images and memories flew threw his mind at a speed that made him feel like his head was splitting as he tried to keep up with it, Life, Death, Creation and Destruction all in one perfect cycle, unending and constant
"Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!" He let out a pained scream as the speed of the images increased then there was flash and everything stopped, He was back in the cave standing in the very same spot
"DO YOU NOW TRUST ME??"
"Yes, This world, it's all so beautiful, so chaotic" He said calmly with wide astonished eyes, there wasn't even an inkling of fear present in him anymore
"GOOD BUT I MUST WARN YOU, ONCE THE TRANSFER IS COMPLETE YOU WILL FORGET EVERYTHING YOU JUST SAW"
"I understand, Gtive it to me" He demanded, as he said those words an image of the faceless man flashed through his mind but now he could see the lower half of his face and on it was a smile
"YOU WERE CURSED WITH WEAKNESS THE DAY YOU WERE BORN, WITH THIS TRANSFER RECEIVE THE POWER TO RID THAT CURSE" The Devil said, it's body lit up with what looked like a purple flame and at the same time pebbles scattered across the floor began to shake and we're lifted slowly into the air then his feet left the ground as he too began to float, his back arched arched into a half moon curve and his eyes began to glow with the intensity increasing to the point it was like a torch
"NOW" The light from the devil's body rushed towards him, enveloping every part of him in it's bright glow
"Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!" He let out a shout but it wasn't from pain, He could feel the power entering into him, flowing through his blood, He could hear the crackle of his bones as they hardened, he could feel as his wounds closed and his body healed to perfection. The volume of his screams increased as the energy kept rushing into him, the bright continuously becoming dimmer till eventually it was gone, Slowly he was lowered down till his feet touched the ground, the light in his eyes went off and he collapsed
"Urghhhhh" he groaned as he stood up and looked around the small cave, the large body of the devil was now just a grey withered corpse, the cave felt smaller no that wasn't it he was the one who had grown, he looked at his hands, the bandages that had covered them had ripped revealing a lower arm that looked nothing like his, he looked at his palms and it was the same, his fingers no longer looked like sticks, He wasn't used to this feeling, there was no pain when he stepped on the floor, he looked at his forearms and the parts that were bleeding heavily had completely healed, he was standing straight and there where no pangs of pain
"What is this" he said as his eyes began to water, a quiet chuckle escaped his mouth as tears fell down his face, he fell to his knees staring at his palm and began to sob, there was no longer anything wrong
"Thank you…thank you" he said as he bowed his head, drops of his tears falling from his jaw onto the ground
"Child" He heard a familiar voice call from behind.
