CHAPTER 4
"Child" his mother called again in awe of the scene in front of her
"Mother" he answered slowly, turning around he saw her standing behind him
"Yo...you...you're standing up straight child" she asked, her voice filled with disbelief
"I am Mother" he answered with a bright smile as he wiped the dampness away from his eyes, slowly she walked closer to him and held his face in her palm
"I'm standing straight mother" he said with a small chuckle as tears once again to build up in his eyes
"Oh my God you're healed my childhood" she said as tears filled her own eyes
"Mother" he replied with a warm smile, her arms wrapped around him as uncontrollable tears fell from her eyes and she cried out as she tightened her grip on him
"I'm ok, I'm ok Mother" he said as he hugged her, tears still falling from his eyes. The hug lasted for a long while before she pulled away and wiped away the tears from her eyes
"How" she asked sternly, he paused then took a step back
"Let's go back to the house first, I'll tell you there" he said, she didn't nodded as they both walked out of the dark cave.
The walk back to the house was painful but for a whole new reason than the walk to the mountains, he could feel her quiet worry, it was the first time he felt anything other than love directed at him from his mother, his thoughts were occupied with ways to explain to her what had happened without her freaking out, he knew how much she feared devil's so he seriously doubted that she'd be okay with him being healed by one of them. The moment they stepped into the house she shut the door
"Sit" she said pointing at his bed, he obeyed quietly and sat down
"Explain" she said with a stern look on her face, and explain he did, starting from the moment he left the house to the moment he received the power, he told her everything not leaving out any detail, after he finished he watched his mother stare at the ground in complete silence for minutes till he couldn't take it anymore
"Say something" he begged of her
"You received power from a devil" she said coldly
"And now I'm able to walk" he countered
"What if it had possessed you" she said
"It didn't"
"What if it did" she said tears once again filling her eyes but she didn't let it, she wiped them away and stared directly into his eyes
"It didn't mother" he said softly trying to convince her, she shook her head and began to pace
"Would you rather I lay here till I die" he shouted frustrated
"Don't say that child but I would rather you be on this bed than lose yourself and become the reason for people's suffering, I don't wanna lose my son to those things" she said, the house became quiet after the word's left her mouth, he sat there and thought of way's to calm this conversation but nothing came to mind
"Sit" he said tapping the bed, she obliged and sat down
"I promise I'm not gonna be the reason for anyone's suffering, just trust me" he said with a warm smile as he held her hands in his
"Promise me that it won't take over you" she said the insistent tears falling down her face
"It won't" he said
"Promise me" she said sternly
"I promise, it won't take over me" he promised with a soft look in his eyes, she smiled and stood up, she stared at him then a chuckle escaped her, she sniffled and wiped her tears as her smile widened
"Look at you child, the way you were always meant to be, my perfect boy" She said happily, he stood up and came close to her
"I am" he agreed feeling something warm in his chest
"Are you hungry?" she asked
"I really am" he answered with a slight smile
"Alright then I'll make you actual food not the trash you've been eating" she said and immediately got to work, he sat on the bed and watched her as she moved from one corner of the house to the next, aromas built up I the small space as she combined different spices till finally she was done and the house was filled with the mouth watering scent of her cooking
"Wow" he exclaimed as she walked over to him with two plates full of food, she handed him one and held on to the other, They both sat on the floor with the plates of food
"Looks delicious mother" he said, she smiled in response watching him as he picked up a spoonfull and put it in his mouth, immediately it entered it entered his mouth his eyes widened with disbelief
"Whoa, this is what I've been missing, Really really delicious" he corrected as he began to clear the food on his plate
"Calm down" she said, gently laughing at his reaction
"I've been improving my recipes for the day you would be able to eat them" she said as she stared at him, admiration and wonder fully present in her eyes
"Well the day has come" he said with a smile,
"How does it feel?" She asked
"What?" He asked unsure what exactly she was talking about
"Being well" she answered
"It's more than I ever dreamed off" he admitted with a happy smile, he took up his spoon and was about to continue his meal when every hair on his body stood and alert shot through his brain
"MOVE!!!" He shouted as he pushed her from the way, the moment she was out of his line of sight something shot at him hitting him directly and flinging him so hard he broke through the walls of the small house and landed lifelessly outside, because of the speed at which it took place it took a moment for what just happened to register in her mind, but when it did she cried loudly as she saw his lifeless body lying outside the broken walls, as she turned around, tears poured from her eyes as the cause of the attack came into view.
