Chapter 7: A Few Successes Radiate! But Something Isn't Right.

He knew the kind of trouble that those screwy brother wands were capable of.

Dylan did not want anything to do with any of that.

After trying all the wands Ollivander spoke of, the one most harmoniously suited was still the thirteen and a quarter inch, yew, Thestral tail hair core wand.

Ollivander was extremely pleased.

After all these years, these wands which he had struggled to make in his younger days had finally met a true master.

It gave him the joy of a father seeing his daughter wedded.

So, Ollivander did not place too high a price on Dylan, just a friend's price.

He even gave him lots of materials for wand care, and even a Thestral velvet wand case.

"Sir, you only charged me seven Galleons?"

Dylan bought a wand and received a whole lot of things, and this made him happy.

"Yes, young wizard, the Ministry of Magic does not allow young wizards to buy wands at exorbitant prices."

Dylan realized.

This should be the Ministry of Magic subsidizing the old chap for selling wands.

Having regard to it, these wands were made at his early days and hadn't been purchased for such a long period.

Dylan blinked.

Now all things were clear!

No wonder!

He even offered him so many gifts!

"Thank you, sir. I'll take my leave."

Dylan departed the shop with lots of things.

Ollivander smiled seeing his back: "Another curious little boy, and very well-behaved."

When Dylan came out, he saw Professor McGonagall.

He came running: "Sorry, Professor McGonagall, I kept you waiting."

"It's okay." Professor McGonagall smiled faintly, "Picky wizards do greater things. I await your show after you register."

Glancing at the large bag of things in Dylan's arms, Professor McGonagall raised an eyebrow discreetly.

She did not say anything, but rather commanded, "Your wand will be by your side for a lifetime. Do not allow it to incur irrevocable damage."

"I will take good care of it!" Dylan vowed.

He was also a bit thrilled at the moment.

He was eager to actually be in the wizarding world and was thrilled to receive a new treasure.

Witnessing this young wizard, who always displayed a sense of maturity beyond his years, exhibit excitement like a child at this moment, Professor McGonagall's eyes flashed with warmth.

"Carry on. You still need to get some wizard robes personalized. Of course, personalizing one is all right, too."

With Professor McGonagall, Dylan walked through Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Potage's Cauldron Shop, and Flourish and Blotts.

When he came out, he was clutching bags of things.

"Professor, I'd like to go into that pet shop."

Professor McGonagall paused: "You. can't have another pet, can you?"

Actually, Dylan didn't manage to buy much else.

But at Flourish and Blotts, Dylan bought more than thirty books of various sizes in bulk.

All were recommended by Professor McGonagall.

There were textbooks too.

Dylan felt that since there was a professor accompanying him, he would make the most of the situation.

Such a good guide to books was not always available.

But this also implied that he could not pick up anything else.

But Dylan visited the Magical Menagerie not to buy a pet, but to ask how he could get a breeding license for Umbra.

So Dylan just blushed and smiled at Professor McGonagall: "Mr. Ollivander just told me something about magical creatures. I'm curious and want to take a look."

"Is that so?" Professor McGonagall nodded, "Then go. I'll wait for you here. Don't be long, though."

"Okay, Professor!"

Dylan ran into Magical Menagerie with his bags.

On inquiring, he didn't dawdle and asked Professor McGonagall to Apparate him home.

On saying goodbye to Professor McGonagall, Dylan brought in all the things into his tiny cellar the moment he entered the house.

The excitement of being on the cusp of going to Hogwarts made him not feel tired even though he had been carrying so many things for so long.

After having briefly informed his parents of what had occurred today, he washed up and snuck back into the basement immediately.

And then, much to his surprise, he discovered that the system panel had a new message prompt. He didn't know when it had refreshed. He glanced up hastily.

[Message]:You have achieved a new achievement!

"Huh? New achievement?" Dylan was stunned, thinking that it was some sort of achievement that he had acquired for visiting Diagon Alley for the first time today.

Like experiencing having a wand for the first time, or attempting Apparition for the first time.

He frantically clicked the magic scroll icon to activate the achievement window.

Thus, he noticed the description of the newly acquired achievement, as if it had been gnawed by some creature.

The character edges were jagged, the strokes were distorted, and the text color was dark, red and black, as if dried blood.
