Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5

Nate POV

I met Rhymes at the house and recalled my interaction with Victor. Rhymes gasped in awe after listening

"Victor is truly ruthless." Rhymes said in a surprising tone. I nodded in approval as we thought of our next move.

"How do we get a contract of 100 million in three days?" Rhymes asked with a sad expression on his face. I curved my lips which took him aback but he regained his composure.

"I think I might know someone-" I replied in a gentle voice. Rhymes' eyes widened in shock. I couldn't reveal my secret yet to Rhymes till I was sure of the source. Meanwhile, we can start using it to exact vengeance. I picked up the flip phone Howard gave me earlier in terms of emergency to call him.

Beep

The phone rang once and a manly voice picked up. "Good day, Master Nathaniel. How can I be of assistance to you?" Howard Smith asked in a respectable tone.

"I need a contract deal worth 100 million from one of the subsidiary companies." I held the tip of my fingers. Seconds later, Howard replied.

"No problem Young Master, for that meager amount you can simply access the platinum card if you need funds." I shook my head.

"No, I need it to be sent to Victor Langston to gain his trust. Which is the easiest company I can get in this city?" I replied calmly. Moments later, Howard continued the call.

"We have a construction company, Imperial Construction. Its' one of our smaller acquisitions, but it will serve your purpose for that amount. I will inform the chairman to prepare for your arrival."

"Thank you Howard, that will be all for now." I calmly said to him. After I finished the call, Rhymes gasped in awe with his mouth wide open.

"How do you know someone in Imperial Construction?" Rhymes asked with a suspicious look on his face.

"I met someone in prison…one day I will tell you the full story." I averted his gaze as I went to fridge to get something to eat. I could feel his cold gaze staring at me as he watched my retreating figure, but I wasn't ready yet to tell him about Mr. X. I let out a sigh of relief as he decided not to pursue the topic any further for now.

The next day, Rhymes took me to the Imperial Construction headquarters. It was a skyscraper building with a unique structure and reflective ceiling-ground windows that showed perfect sunlight. It had a fabulous view as one of the city landmarks. It became one of the most successful construction companies in the city. It was a thing of pride to even be considered doing business with them which enticed several companies including victor's to seek a partnership with But, they were very strict on their selection process.

We got to the main entrance and were stopped by two burly men fully armed. They had a disdain look on their as we approached them. "State who you're here to see." They asked with a condescending look towards us.

"Tell Wilfred Adams, I'm the guest from Howard Smith." I said in a gentle voice. The burly men eyes' widened as I called the chairman's name so effortlessly. They scuffed as they snobbishly relayed my message through their secured earpiece. They let out a hysterical laughter.

"Are you sure about this?" Rhymes asked nervously. I signaled to him that everything will be alright.

Minutes later, A chubby man rushed out to meet us at the entrance. He wore a tang suit and a gold watch. His face was well groomed giving him a distinguished look.

"Welcome Young Master, forgive me for not waiting for you at the entrance. I was told you were coming in later in the day." He respectfully bowed to me. "My apologies, I am Wilfred Adams. Chairman of this company, I'm to serve you in any capacity you need."

I twisted my lips as I cupped his hands extended to me. His eyes flickered like he just met a celebrity. Everyone who witnessed this gasped in awe. He was known to be among the richest men in the city. Yet, he was bowing down and smiling to a young man dressed in plain clothes. The two burly men wiped their forehead beaded with sweat as I had a smirk on my face while entering the building.

Rhymes looked puzzled but decided not to ask about it. Wilfred escorted us to his office personally while I gestured to Rhymes to give me a moment with him alone. He sat outside the waiting room while Wilfred and I entered his office.

As soon as we were alone, he gestured I take the leather seat meant for the him. I slightly nodded while he stood by my side.

"I want you to issue a contract deal worth 100 million to Victor Langston's company with me as the intermediary." I politely asked. His face turned pale, but he snapped back quickly.

"Young Master, if I may…Victor is widely known to be a crime boss. I don't think it will be safe doing business with him." Wilfred nervously replied. I pressed my lips.

"I'm aware, but I have a plan that I will explain in due time." I replied in a serious tone. Wilfred was silent for a few seconds, then responded back.

"I shall have them draw-up the contract immediately." He politely replied.

Within a few hours, a contract was drawn with me listed as the intermediary. I grinned when I saw the printed copy.

"Well done Wilfred, you can continue managing the company. Juts keep my true identity secret for now." I glanced at him deeply. He slightly nodded as escorted me to the entrance door with Rhymes. He waved at us goodbye as we left.

Rhymes was in shock when he read the contract details. "You must have a very powerful friend to get a contract this fast from Imperial Construction." He looked at me with a cheeky smile.

"I got lucky..I guess." I answered hesitantly. Rhymes had a unconvinced look on his face. We finally reached my house and started planning our next move with Victor.

Later in the day, I met up with Danny Brooks and asked he take me to see Victor again in the bar. It was filled with prying eyes as we reached the back office. Inside, I met Victor and his tattooed henchmen again. I handed the contract to Victor.

His eyes widened in disbelief when he read the details. "You actually did it Nate, I never thought you could." Victor had a smug face as he gently tapped me at the back.

His henchman sneered at me in disbelief. "I'm sure it's a fake." He looked unconvinced seethed with anger.

"You can verify from the company." I snapped. He face turned ashen in envy. Victor made a call to confirm and it was proven to be true. He nodded in approval and shook my hands.

"Welcome to my organization Nate, a promise is a promise." Victor let out a deep sigh. This is the beginning of your end Victor. I chuckled quietly to myself.
