Chapter 15 - System Status

"Before that, you need to understand something about mage levels. As I said before, there are levels in three different jobs," Sylas replied.

Aiden listened and remained in the cave. Aurora was resting in her dimensional beast ring, so Aiden didn't have to worry about Aurora getting angry.

From Sylas' explanation, the mage levels on the continent consisted of:

Apprentice, which consists of three stages, namely First Apprentice, Apprentice, and Peak Apprentice.

Acolyte, which consists of First Acolyte, Acolyte, and Peak Acolyte.

Adept, which consists of First Adept, Adept, and Peak Adept.

Magus, which consists of First Magus, Magus, and Peak/High Magus. Master Mage, which has no other stages, but has mastery in each specialty, for example Master Beast Tamer, Master Alchemist, Master Summoner, and others.

Archmage, who has no advanced stages because it is already at the top of a mage's power hierarchy. It is said that the power of an Archmage is equivalent to 1 million Magus.

For now, Aiden has not reached the First Apprentice stage, or you could say that he is still in the process of learning basic magic.

Even so, Aiden's ability to overcome the danger during the beast taming contract made Sylas think that Aiden's hidden abilities were at least at the Adept stage, or higher.

"Then, what is your current level of magic, Master?" asked Aiden.

"You don't need to know that. Most importantly, I will teach you the basics before you are able to cast magic properly," Sylas replied, Aiden clearing his throat in agreement.

"To bring up your status panel, you just need to move your hand to form an S like this," Sylas replied, demonstrating as if writing an S in the air, then pressing it.

The panel appeared, but only Sylas's and Aiden couldn't see it. Sylas explained that everyone was gifted with something like that in this world, making it easier for them to choose the right type of job.

Aiden understood. He took a deep breath and started to demonstrate the movement. When Aiden finished pressing the letter S, a status panel actually appeared containing Aiden's identity.

[Status]

[Name: Aiden Aswald]

[Race: Human]

[Rank: -]

[Job: -]

[Guild: -]

[Base Stats] [Combat Stats] [Skills] [Inventory] [Friend]

Aiden looked at the panel carefully, some sections were still default and had yet to be determined. The young man suddenly asked Sylas about it.

"Tiers, jobs, and guilds are empty because you haven't done any ability detection. At the very least, if you successfully pass the academy entrance exam, the tier and job sections will be filled in," Sylas replied.

Sylas also explained the use of the other five menus after profile stats.

Base stats were useful for viewing the status of Aiden's basic attributes, such as STR, AGI, DEX, INT, VIT, and LUK.

These attributes will be very useful for utilizing Aiden's power and magic abilities or physical attacks.

Combat stats consist of HP, MP, and EXP. EXP used to level up in each job, the higher the level, the more EXP needed.

Skills is a menu that is useful for recording each person's abilities, whether physical attack skills or magic.

In the skill menu there is also a unique skill section which explains the exclusive skills that are only owned by that person.

Inventory is a menu that is useful for knowing what items are stored in the magic bag. Since Aiden doesn't have the bag, the Inventory menu is not very useful.

And finally, Friend was useful for adding friends, chatting with distant friends, or detecting the whereabouts of friends.

Aiden easily understood all the explanations, from base stats to friends. Things like this made everything seem so interesting to Aiden, especially since he had never gotten this kind of status when he was on Earth.

"Try pressing the base stats menu, then you'll see what it's for," Sylas replied, and Aiden nodded.

He pressed the base stats menu again and another panel appeared, different from the profile stats.

[Base Stats]

[STR: 1]

[AGI: 1]

[INT: 30]

[DEX: 1]

[VIT: 1]

[LUK: 1]

[Base Point: 0]

From that panel, only the INT attribute had the most points, which was 30. Aiden didn't know the exact reason why his INT section was higher.

Sylas only explained that the INT attribute was useful for determining how much power one's magic attack and defense had.

'Is there perhaps something else that can affect the amount of the INT attribute? INT is probably derived from the word Intelligence, does it have anything to do with a person's ability to think?' Aiden asked.

Putting that aside, all attributes other than INT only had one point. Sylas said that it was normal because Aiden hadn't entered the academy yet and hadn't gained any EXP.

"Base points are earned every time you level up. The amount varies depending on how much you level up," Sylas replied.

"Once the base points are earned, you can add the points to the attributes you want to upgrade," Sylas explained, Aiden understood, but he had to decide what he wanted to be in the future.

"I see."

Aiden pressed another menu, Combat Stats. From that panel, it appeared that the amount of writing was not much more than the base stats.

[Combat Stats]

[HP: 9999999/9999999]

[MP: 100/100]

[EXP: 0/0]

Again, something that surprised him happened. The HP in the combat stats menu had an amount that seemed unlimited. Aiden remembered his curse again.

Curious about the skills he had learned, Aiden quickly pressed the skills menu and displayed two different sections, skills and unique skills.

[Skills]

[Fireball Lv. 1] [Active] [Fireball ranged attack]

[Unique Skills]

[Eye of Beast King] [Active] [Control beast, analyze beast, contract beast, heal beast]

[Immortality Curse] [Passive] [+100% HP Regen every second]

Sure enough, he had only learned Fireball level 1, but Aiden saw that Eye of Beast King was in the Unique Skills section, the system also seemed to detect its immortality curse as a passive skill, which had 100% HP regen every second.

"How was it? Are you impressed?" asked Sylas.

"I didn't get anything like this on Earth, of course I'm impressed and want to learn it quickly," replied Aiden, softly.

"Earth?" asked Sylas, confused.

"Never mind."

"So, what's next?" asked Aiden, inquiring as to the training methods he would undergo later.

"There are still two weeks before the academy entrance exam opens. Your dominant element is fire, I'll teach you how to cast fire magic spells and manipulate it," Sylas replied.

"Good. I will follow your words, Master."
