Eleanor
Liam?
What was he doing here?
"Hey." Sofia greeted from behind me and Liam's gaze shifted to her for a split second before he blinked in acknowledgement.
Unlike me, Sofia had always tried to be nice to Liam. She greeted him, talked to him, asked about his opinion on most things. Most times he didn't answer her and other times he did just so he could make her stop talking.
When I think about it now it was actually a good thing because this meant that even if Liam and I were in a fake relationship, it didn't stop him and Sofia from getting closer to each other.
Well…at least now I had one less thing to worry about.
"Where the heck have you been?" I glared back at him, my gaze drifting to the cup of coffee in his hand. Sofia and I had stopped by the cafeteria since she wanted to grab a drink as it was the closest vending machine nearby.
Little did we know that we were going to cross paths with this moron.
Instead of answering my question he just looked over my shoulder where Sofia was standing and I didn't get what was happening until Sofia smiled awkwardly and said, "Umm Dori I'll be right back. I think I left…my socks in the locker room. I'll meet you guys in class bye."
Before I could even say anything or stop her she was already running across the room.
"Great, you scared her off." I said dryly as I turned my head towards him. "Just what I needed."
"Exactly. You wouldn't want that sweet friend of yours to eavesdrop on our conversation would you?" He asked, lifting the cup to his lips but before he could take a sip I snatched the cup out of his hand and threw it into a nearby trash can.
It was obvious I took him by surprise and he wasn't happy about it. But I didn't care. "You didn't answer my question." I raised a brow crossing my arms over my chest. "Why weren't you in school yesterday and why are you just coming now?"
"Look four eyes…" he spoke through gritted teeth as he stepped closer so no one around could hear us. "…where I choose to go is none of your business and you see that stunt you pulled right now?" He jerked his thumb towards the trash can.
"Never…and I mean never try it again. I don't think you got my message last time but if you piss me off again…" he paused, a small smile forming on his lips. "…I'm going to make life a living hell for you."
"Ugh…enough with the threats, sourpuss." I huffed. He wasn't the only one that was good at giving people funny nicknames. "And in case you don't know…having to be in a fake relationship with you is already making life a living hell for me." I dropped my voice to a small whisper just in case anyone was eavesdropping.
We were in an open place after all.
"Speaking of our relationship, I'm not sure if you know who Naomi is but she's already suspecting that something's off so you better do something about it. If you would have listened to me when I told you how ridiculous this idea was then maybe we wouldn't have to be dealing with all of this." My eyes drooped.
"What are you talking about?" His brows dipped as he took a step back.
Oh wow, he couldn't even understand a few words. Who would've thought that he'd be so dumb?
"Naomi thinks it's unusual for us to be in a relationship." I drawled with air quotes. "You better do something about it if you don't want people to doubt you." I said sizing him up and I was just leaving when I had barely even taken a few steps and something yanked me back.
My back hit the wall, and before I could even process what just happened, a warm hand landed on my waist, fingers pressing just enough to make my breath hitch. My eyes snapped up…only to find Liam's face hovering way too close to mine, his blue eyes sharp and calculating.
"What…" My voice came out weak. Embarrassingly weak.
"Where do you think you're going, four eyes?" His voice was low, his breath tickling my cheek.
My stomach flipped and I swallowed hard. "Liam, what the hell are you doing?"
He didn't answer.
Instead, he leaned in…his lips nearly grazing my ear.
Panic surged through me. He was too close. Way too close.
"Didn't you just say I should do something about this girl's suspicions?" he murmured, his voice dropping into something almost dangerous.
I blinked, confused. "What?"
He ignored me completely, his fingers tightening slightly against my waist. "And what better way is there to clear someone's doubt than not giving them room for it?"
My heart stuttered and I suddenly became hyper aware of the way we looked…his body caging me in, my hands pressed flat against the wall, his head dipped low, his mouth close enough that if I moved even an inch…
Oh, crap.
I glanced to the side, stomach sinking when I noticed exactly what I feared.
"What is wrong with you? People are watching." And it wasn't until the words left my lips that I realized what he was doing.
"That's the point, sweetheart." His lips curled in amusement as his hand slowly slid off my waist only to reach for my face.
"You've got to be kidding me." I scowled, glaring at him. Why didn't he warn me before doing things like this?
I stiffened as his fingers brushed my glasses, tilting them slightly. "I thought you were smart? You couldn't even figure that out on your own."
Oh, God. If only I could strangle him. "There's no use for any of this." I spat out as my eyes swept the room. "Naomi is not even here."
"It doesn't matter. School gossip spreads quite quickly, you know."
I shoved at his chest before he could finish his sentence but it was completely useless because the bastard didn't even budge. "Get off me, you…you manipulative moron."
He smirked. "That's not a very girlfriend-like thing to say." He said feigning innocence. "You'll make them doubt just how much you love me. You wouldn't want that now, would you?" He taunted and I gritted my teeth as I slipped to the side, finally breaking free from his hold.
Heat burned my face as I yanked my clothes into place, ignoring the way my skin still tingled where his hands had been and the way heat pooled in the lower part of my tummy.
"Asshole," I muttered under my breath and as I turned to storm off, his voice rang out…loud and clear.
"Bye babe."
My feet froze.
Low chuckles rippled through the cafeteria and I could feel the eyes on me followed by the amused whispers.
Slowly, I turned back to him, my glare filled with pure murder.
His smirk deepened, full of challenge as he blew me a kiss.
Oh, I was going to make him pay for this.
He was going to wish he never crossed paths with me.
I glanced at the pairs of eyes that were staring back at me and my cheeks burned with embarrassment as I walked out of the cafeteria.
I guess if Theadora was ever going to come back she'll just have to ignore and not care about how people saw her now because all her efforts to keep her relationships with guys a secret have just gone down the drain…thanks to me.
Hours later when Sofia and I were done with most of our classes…and yes Liam was still hovering around like the pest that he was…Sofia and I decided to drop our books in our lockers and go chill in the courtyard for a while but just as I opened my locker a piece of paper fell off catching us off guard.
"That's weird." My forehead creased in confusion as I glanced at Sofia who was also staring at the paper. I was sure I left my locker locked so then how did this piece of paper get in here?
"It's not yours?" Sofia arched a brow as she slid her books into her locker.
"Nope." I said picking it up. Was this one of those classic pranks in High School movies where the bullies or love interest left notes in the girls' locker?
If it was, then I swear I was going to die of second hand embarrassment. I never liked those scenes in movies and books. I mean why didn't the bully or the love interest just confront them?
It wasn't that hard.
"Huh. Do you have any idea of who might have put it?" Sofia asked as I shoved my books into my locker.
I did have an idea but apparently Jake didn't even want to look my way let alone keep notes in my locker. So there's no way it could've been him.
I lifted my shoulders in a small shrug as I closed my locker and opened the paper to see if anything useful was written on it and my eyes went wide in surprise as I read the note.
No it couldn't be.
"What's it say?" Sofia looked concerned as she moved to stand beside me but I immediately crumpled the paper on instinct and gave her an awkward smile. "What's wrong?" Her brows furrowed in confusion and I immediately slid the paper into my back pocket still smiling at her.
"Nothing's wrong. Umm..it's just one of Naomi stupid pranks." I said the first thing that dropped in my head. "There's no need to worry." I tried to convince her but I knew deep down that even I wouldn't be convinced with how shaky my voice was.
"Dori, are you sure you're okay?" Her voice was laced with worry. "Naomi hasn't made you this anxious before…what was in the paper?" She questioned but I didn't even know how I was going to answer that with getting myself into deeper trouble.
I glanced around and I couldn't help but feel like every soul in the hallway was watching me even though they weren't. My eyes stopped at Liam who had his eyes buried in his phone but raised his head the second I spotted him just as if he sensed my gaze.
I quickly looked away, turning to face Sofia.
"Dori?"
How could I tell her? How could I tell her that it wasn't Naomi and that I had no idea who had written the note?
The words I had read on the note rang in my head again and my smile froze.
"Don't think you have everyone fooled, you two-faced liar. I know exactly who you are, and I'm going to expose you. Soon enough, everyone will find out that you're not the real Theadora and you're just a pathetic fraud."
My throat went dry. What was I going to tell Sofia now?
