Chapter 33 - Address by Title When Working

Moss had spent the previous day leading Astamon and the other Digimon to a picturesque location by the mountains and water, intending to build houses there. However, before they could even lay the foundation, Sleipmon had returned.

"Are you alone? Where's Captain Satsuma?"

Moss glanced around, but there was no sign of Captain Satsuma near Sleipmon.

"He's waiting for us elsewhere," Sleipmon replied.

"Waiting for us? You're taking me somewhere?" Moss asked, puzzled.

"Yes."

Sleipmon nodded solemnly before officially announcing, "Angewomon, Yggdrasil has appointed you as the Digital World's ambassador to the human world."

Huh?

Moss was momentarily stunned.

Ambassador?

Wait, wait, wait. I just arrived in the Digital World yesterday! I haven't even done anything yet! The foundation for the houses isn't even finished, and now you're telling me to go back?!

Damn it! Yggdrasil, what the hell are you up to?

Moss held back the urge to curse in front of Sleipmon and kept her complaints to herself. However, this sudden appointment still left her a little surprised and somewhat curious. She asked, "Why does Yggdrasil care so much about me?"

Someone like her, who wasn't even an Ultimate-level Digimon yet, shouldn't even be on Yggdrasil's radar.

How did she suddenly get chosen as an ambassador?

Sleipmon explained, "Actually, I am a Royal Knight."

"Oh." Moss responded flatly.

She had known that for a long time.

"...Huh? You're not surprised?" Sleipmon asked, confused.

This was the first time it had revealed its identity to Angewomon.

Moss feigned surprise. "…Huh? You're actually one of the legendary Royal Knights?!"

Her acting was a little exaggerated, but fortunately, her mask covered her eyes, hiding most of the flaws in her performance.

That's why some people seem to act better when their eyes are covered—since eyes are the window to emotions, blocking them forces the audience to rely on imagination.

And imagination is flawless!

Sleipmon didn't notice the deception and instead mentally filled in the gaps, imagining Moss's shocked expression. It felt a slight sense of pride.

The title of Royal Knight represented justice and honor—something every Digimon that bore the title could be proud of.

In the Digital World, few had actually seen a Royal Knight in person. Most had only heard the name, making the Royal Knights seem like legends.

After composing itself, Sleipmon continued, "I was sent to the human world by Yggdrasil in the form of Kudamon to observe humans and promote peace between the two worlds.

"To be honest, I have been working on this mission for many years with only moderate progress—until you appeared and changed everything.

"In just two days, you've accomplished more than I have in years!"

Sleipmon's voice carried clear admiration.

Moss wanted to say something, but she hesitated and held her tongue.

Sleipmon continued, "Because of this, Yggdrasil has decided to appoint you as the ambassador representing the Digital World in negotiations with the human world."

So you're the one who told Yggdrasil about me, huh?

Moss stared silently at Sleipmon.

Sleipmon asked, "Is there a problem?"

Moss replied, "Yes."

"What problem?"

"Can I refuse?"

Refuse?

This was a prestigious role—why would she want to reject it?

If it were any other Royal Knight, they would have coldly told her, "No."

But Sleipmon was naturally more mild-mannered, and since it respected Angewomon, it assumed she had a deeper reason for asking.

Even so, it couldn't understand why.

So it tried to persuade her. "I understand if you have your own plans, but Yggdrasil is the god of the Digital World. Refusing this appointment would mean defying Yggdrasil's will. My advice… is to reconsider."

This was a divine order, and the consequences of defying it were obvious.

In human history, refusing the will of a ruler often led to a tragic end.

Moss lowered her head in silence.

She wasn't actually weighing the pros and cons—she was simply listening to Angewomon speak in her mind.

"Following Yggdrasil's will may increase our chances of evolving into Magnadramon in the future," Angewomon suggested.

Sleipmon saw Moss's hesitation and added, "You won't be working alone. I and DATS will assist you."

At this point, refusing would be rude.

Moreover, her Roleplay Evolution Theory—"Plant the seeds, reap the rewards"—meant that everything she did now would influence her future evolution.

Following Yggdrasil's will could increase her chances of evolving into Magnadramon.

Moss made her decision. "I'll say this upfront—I have no idea how to be an ambassador."

Sleipmon smiled. "At the very least, you understand diplomacy better than we do. Just do what you think is right."

"…Alright."

Moss fell silent for a moment before asking, "By the way, what about Kurata?"

This was a serious topic, and Sleipmon answered with equal seriousness, "Yggdrasil has officially declared Kurata a major threat to both worlds. The Royal Knights have been dispatched to search for him across the Digital World. If he's here, he has nowhere to run."

Oh, that's good news.

In the original story, Kurata's greatest trump card was Belphemon. As one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, Belphemon was undeniably powerful and even absorbed Tokyo's energy to make himself stronger.

But even with all that, he was still defeated by Marcus Damon and ShineGreymon Burst Mode.

And that was just one Royal Knight.

Now, multiple Royal Knights—including Craniamon—were actively hunting Kurata.

This was like a cat-and-mouse game, and Kurata was the mouse.

Kurata, just die already!

—I really hope he gets eliminated in the Digital World.

With that settled, Moss turned toward Astamon, Goblimon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, and Kunemon, who were still building houses.

"I want them to come with me to the human world."

If she was going to be an ambassador, she needed an entourage.

She needed subordinates to maintain her image.

Sleipmon nodded. "No problem."

Moss thought for a moment and added, "One more thing."

"…Go on." Even Sleipmon was starting to get a little exasperated.

Why are there so many conditions?

"I need a deputy."

Sleipmon considered this and agreed. "Do you have someone in mind?"

"BanchouLeomon."

Non-mechanical, non-modified Ultimate-level Digimon were extremely rare.

And in this world, there was only one BanchouLeomon—Spencer Damon's Digimon partner.

But Moss wasn't just interested in BanchouLeomon.

Her real goal was Spencer Damon.

Spencer Damon was the first human to use DigiSoul and the creator of the Digivice. In the original story, he was the key to helping the main trio achieve their Ultimate evolutions.

Now, Moss wanted Spencer Damon to train her as well.
