Chapter 34 - Key Points of Ultimate Evolution

"BanchouLeomon?"

Sleipmon couldn't quite see how BanchouLeomon would be a fitting choice for a diplomatic assistant. A bodyguard? Sure. But an assistant? That was questionable.

"You're certain you want BanchouLeomon?"

Moss nodded. "I'm absolutely, completely, and utterly sure."

Seeing her insistence, Sleipmon sighed and said, "I can take you to meet BanchouLeomon, but the rest is up to you. Hop on."

With that, he extended his hand, signaling for Moss, Astamon, and the others to climb aboard.

Once they were all in place, Sleipmon took off at an incredible speed.

"So fast!"

"Are you the fastest Digimon?"

The group gasped in amazement.

"No, I wouldn't call myself the fastest," Sleipmon chuckled. His speed was impressive, but among the Royal Knights, there were those even faster.

As they spoke, they arrived at their destination.

Three figures stood ahead, the most imposing one being BanchouLeomon—the very Digimon Moss had come to find.

Silver-haired, blue-eyed, a sprout clenched between his teeth. His golden fur stretched over his muscular frame, with a crimson cross-like scar on his chest leading down to his abdomen. His long tail bore a sacred ring, and he wore a black long coat that resembled a high school uniform, the sleeve marked with the words "Above Heaven, Below Earth, I Am Supreme."

A lion delinquent, through and through.

He looked like a lion version of Jotaro Kujo!

However…

Even though she had come to meet BanchouLeomon, Moss's attention wasn't on him. Instead, she was fixated on the two men standing beside him—both of whom were also men.

One was Captain Satsuma.

The other was… Spencer Damon!

"Spencer Damon and BanchouLeomon aren't fused? They've been separated? Did Yggdrasil…"

Moss pondered for a moment before realizing something she had overlooked.

In the original timeline, ten years ago, Spencer Damon was part of the Digital World exploration team.

Back then, Kurata had misunderstood Digimon and opened fire on them, sparking a conflict that led to the team being attacked.

Spencer, who had mastered DigiSoul, covered his team's escape and stayed behind in the Digital World, where he met and befriended BanchouLeomon after an initial clash.

The two then wandered the Digital World, searching for a way to bring peace between Digimon and humans.

Years later, they finally reached Yggdrasil and demonstrated the power of human-Digimon bonds—the Burst Mode.

This convinced Yggdrasil that Digimon and humans could build a better future together.

But then tragedy struck.

Kurata invaded the Digital World with Gizmon, bringing slaughter.

Digimon usually reincarnate into DigiEggs upon death—it's a natural rule of the Digital World. But the Digimon killed by Kurata's creations left nothing behind.

This enraged Yggdrasil, who planned to launch a retaliatory strike against the human world.

Spencer Damon pleaded for peace and even swore on his life that such an atrocity would never happen again.

Yet, it continued to happen.

Even Mercurymon, an Ultimate-level Digimon, was slain by Kurata.

With things spiraling out of control, Spencer had to uphold his word and pay with his life.

BanchouLeomon, unable to accept this, pretended to execute Spencer but secretly merged his spirit into himself, allowing Spencer to live on in his body.

However, Yggdrasil saw through the deception and took control of Spencer's body, using it as a hostage while keeping BanchouLeomon under constant surveillance…

"Everything changed at the Mercurymon incident… But because of my interference, that moment never happened. So Spencer Damon and BanchouLeomon never fused."

Moss chuckled to herself. She hadn't realized just how much her actions had already reshaped this world.

As she reflected, Sleipmon landed, allowing Moss and the others to step down. He then reverted to Kudamon and leapt onto Captain Satsuma's shoulder.

Spencer smiled at the sight. "Now that Kudamon's back, I'll be heading out."

Captain Satsuma turned to him sharply. "You're not coming back with us to the human world? Your wife and children have been waiting for ten years!"

Spencer's expression darkened with guilt.

Ten years…

What was supposed to be a simple expedition had turned into a decade-long separation.

How many ten years does a person have?

He missed them dearly—his wife, his son, his little girl.

But now was not the time.

Spencer took a deep breath, steadied his resolve, and said, "Kurata… I must deal with him myself. Satsuma, tell Sarah, Marcus, and Kristy that I'm sorry."

Captain Satsuma sighed. "This isn't going to take another ten years, is it?"

Spencer smirked confidently. "No. Not this time."

Just as he and BanchouLeomon were about to depart, Moss stepped forward.

"Mr. Damon, I'd like to ask for your guidance. Can we talk in private?"

Spencer blinked in surprise.

Kudamon tilted his head in confusion. Weren't we here for BanchouLeomon? Why is she looking for Spencer now?

It made no sense.

Then again, this was Moss.

She was unpredictable.

"Follow me," Moss said as she walked a hundred meters away.

Spencer followed.

"What is it, Miss Angewomon?" he asked.

Moss raised her right hand, clenched her fingers, and let a white DigiSoul ignite in her palm.

Spencer's eyes widened.

DigiSoul was the manifestation of human spirit, an energy that could be converted into Digimon power. But Digimon weren't supposed to generate DigiSoul by themselves.

Yet here it was—burning bright in the hands of a Digimon.

"What I want to ask," Moss said, "is about Ultimate Evolution."

Ultimate Evolution?

Spencer raised a brow. Why would a Digimon be asking a human about Digivolution?

But then again…

He looked at the glowing white DigiSoul in Moss's hand.

She's different from any Digimon I've ever seen.

Spencer thought for a moment before saying, "Before I answer that, punch me. Use your DigiSoul-powered fist."

Moss smirked. "That's a strange request. You sure?"

"Do it." Spencer braced himself.

"Alright then, I won't hold back!"

Moss stepped forward, left foot planting down, body twisting, right arm pulling back like a drawn bow—ready to unleash.

And then—

Boom!

A dull thud echoed through the air.

Then—tap, tap, tap.

Moss stumbled back, heels clicking against the ground.

She, the one throwing the punch, had been forced backward.

Spencer, meanwhile, hadn't moved.

His body remained firm, surrounded by a burning orange DigiSoul.

"Such powerful DigiSoul…" Moss murmured in awe.

Looking at the DigiSoul-clad Spencer Damon, she felt like she wasn't facing a human.

She was standing before an Ultimate-level Digimon in human form.

Spencer smirked. "Alright. Now I understand."

Moss blinked.

Understand what?!
