While our character was eating, Jake approached him.
Jake: Bro, do you want a cigarette? It might help you wake up; you were dozing off in class.
Character: No, thanks, Jake.
Jake: Did you know that Zoe and the Math Teacher called you stupid?
Character: No, I didn't know. But why did Zoe say that?
Jake: I don't know; he thinks he's better than everyone else. He's just a stupid jerk.
Character: You're right, bro. I can understand the Math Teacher, but it's ridiculous for Zoe to say that.
Jake: Well, if you want, just this once.
Character: Okay, I'll join you this time.
Jake: Also, you'll relax a little.
Character: Absolutely.
After finishing his meal, our character went to the school toilet with Jake to have a cigarette.
Jake: Dude, you shouldn't take life too seriously. What happens if we do or don't? Just have a cigarette.
Character: I'm only having it once, Jake. Don't give me more; I don't want to be addicted.
Jake: Here, bro, it doesn't hurt.
Our character takes the cigarette from Jake and lights it.
Jake: Dude, it's not like that. You should do it this way.
Jake shows our character how to smoke.
Character: Okay, I get it.
Jake: Take a drag and see.
Our character starts coughing immediately as he inhales.
Character: Damn it!
Jake: No problem; it happens the first time. It happened to me too.
Character: Anyway, let's continue our conversation.
Jake: Definitely, let's smoke this before people come to me to take a drag.
Character: Do you know Rafael Voss? He's supposed to be out soon.
Jake: Yeah, I heard that jerk is coming out.
Character: I agree.
After chatting for a bit, they finish their cigarettes and leave the school toilet.
Jake: We can do this again.
Character: No, Jake, this isn't for me. Just this once.
Jake: It won't hurt, man.
Character: No, no, see you later.
Jake: Okay, you know best, bro. See you later.
(That's how it all starts. You tell yourself, "One more time won't hurt," and then a week later you find yourself addicted to this stupid thing. I definitely don't want to be addicted.)
After lunch break, our character went back to class.
