[Log 46] {Sil} How long has it been since I started to return back?
{Logan} it's been 16 days
{Sil} 16? It feels so much longer. It was supposed to take a month for the entire trip, right?
{Logan} Yes, but that is assuming there are no interruptions.
{Sil} Right…
{Sil} I really want to head back. It's so lonely out here.
{Logan} You always have me and Vicky.
{Sil} Not always, remember when my connection stopped working?
{Sil} I'm worried it'll happen again.
{Sil} I don't…
{Logan} You don't what?
Sil typed in the message, but before he hit send, his finger hovered above the button. He almost considered deleting it. Sil didn't want to be thought of as weak, but the silence was growing. The thoughts were returning. The reflection in the mirror was getting harder and harder to look at. Sil had to press send.
{Sil} I don't trust myself to be alone.
{Logan} Okay.
{Logan} I'll prepare a ship to be created and sent so we can meet up halfway.
{Sil} Thanks.
{Vicky} Sil, remember, we have plans to go to that zoo. We're going to see those damn animals, and we're going to make you fly away.
{Logan} *fly while riding an animal. You should clarify Vicky, there may be unfortunate implications with that sentence.
{Vicky} You knew what I meant.
{Sil} I don't.
{Logan} Fly away has a historical meaning that originated from an old country named Japan referring to receiving a high after sexual pleasure.
{Vicky} Ugh, ignore Logan.
{Sil} Seriously?
{Vicky} It's some obscure shit, I don't even think it's real.
{Logan} Like I warned earlier, you should be careful of your words, Vicky. You might have implied something about Sil.
{Sil} I'm not into bestiality.
{Vicky} Whoa now, what about all those aliens you were foolin around with?
{Sil} They are sentient humanoid beings! I asked them if they wanted to get with me and they said yes.
{Sil} Maybe I'm only like this because of all the time I spent with you.
{Vicky} I'm not that sexual of a person! I just have a husband that I really like spending my time with.
{Vicky} Love u btw <3
{Logan} <3
{Sil} …
{Sil} How can I be like you?
{Logan} How can you be like Vicky? Or me?
{Sil} Does it really matter? I want to be like you.
{Sil} I want to have someone by my side. I want to love and cherish and be cringe as fuck with someone.
{Vicky} Oh, now I'm feeling sad…
{Logan} You can find someone at any time, Sil. It just takes time.
{Sil} What if I know who I want that someone to be?
{Vicky} Ohhhh you got your eyes out for someone? 👀 Like the duck guy?
{Logan} I don't think it's the duck guy.
{Sil} You guys know him. He's someone that I want to care for… and love… and say stupid things…
{Sil} Like 'I love you'
{Vicky} Awwwww my hopeless romantic brotherrrrrr~ who is it?
{Logan} I don't like where this is going.
{Sil} Quinn. I miss Quinn. He deserves… so much…
{Vicky} Oh...… well you know he's going to be out for 1000 years, right?
{Sil} I know… but it's alright, I would gladly go visit him when I come back
{Logan} …
{Sil} What's wrong? Don't think I can survive 1000 years? I was able to slow down my aging y'know.
{Logan} It's best for me to tell you once you come back.
Sil's heart skipped a beat. What did Logan mean by that? What else could be wrong with Quinn? Should he get another nest crystal for Quinn? Sil felt his palms begin to sweat, yet another itch in his mind has been reawakened. This time out of worry for his beloved.
{Vicky} Sil, Logan is being stupid right now. Quinn is fine. It will still take 1000 years in total to recover. There's like 900-something years left to go alright?
{Sil} I guess you're right… I can wait 900 years.
{Vicky} and again, another goal to look forward to! Be sure to be there for him, alright?
{Logan} I apologize for being cryptic with my words. Quinn is fine.
{Sil} How's Peter?
Now it was Logan's turn to panic. A sudden flash of all the memories with Peter rushed back into his mind. His hands began to tremble slightly. He hated this topic. It was almost fine if Logan was the one to talk about Peter, he could control when it happened and what the topic regarding Peter would be about, but if someone else mentioned him…
He was purposely trying to block out all thoughts of Peter for the past 100 years, trying new things like becoming a politician, and allowing himself to fall in love. All to make the time go by faster. Any and all memories of Peter made him feel like he was less and less likely to ever see him again. Logan couldn't even figure out where Quinn was! He already dreaded the fact that he would need to tell Sil the truth one way or another. But what he dreaded more was the fact that his closest friend— the most physically loyal out of the entire friend group— was also missing. Everything Peter did for him, all the moments they shared together. Whenever Peter vented to Logan about anything and everything. Logan missed all of it so much. He had spent the past 100 years trying everything in his power to find Peter, and his efforts have been less than fruitful.
Not a single clue could be found, and after just one year of straight searching, Logan had gone into a frenzy. While he was not the type to show much emotion, Logan behaved rather… hysterical when he found more dead ends. After each roadblock, Logan's meltdowns would get worse and worse. He felt like a failure of a friend. How could it be so impossible for him to just find the fucking coffin?!
Logan was unaware of the chat continuing to go on without him…
{Vicky} He's still waiting for Quinn to wake up.
{Vicky} Honestly? You might have to fight him over that guy.
{Sil} I guess I should've expected it. Peter was the first to be turned by him.
{Sil} Would Quinn even be interested in me?
{Sil} Peter's probably going to be the first person he sees.
{Vicky} Just because he's going to be the first person, doesn't mean he'll choose him.
{Vicky} Quinn might not even think of Peter that way.
{Sil} Oh god, what if Quinn's not even into men?
{Vicky} You won't know unless you ask him yourself.
{Vicky} Now I may not have known Quinn that well, but judging by what Logan's told me and all of his known records, it might as well be an open bag.
{Sil} What do you mean?
{Vicky} He did fight tooth and nail to save some of his closest male friends, risking his lives for them.
{Vicky} and despite having so many women flock to him, he never got with any of them.
{Vicky} So who knows!
{Sil} So does this mean…?
{Vicky} You might have a chance. :)
{Sil} … it felt pretty nice to let out my feelings.
{Sil} I think I'm going to go to sleep now.
{Sil} Goodnight.
{Vicky} Goodnight.
{Vicky} And remember! We're going to that zoo!
The log closed, and Vicky looked at the bright light of the computer. The room became dark ever since night crept in and Vicky enjoyed her time talking to her brother. She was considering inviting Vorden, Raten, and maybe even Shiro into the chat, especially seeing as Sil was lonely. She stood up and took a few stretches, getting a few pops in for good measure. Vicky was quite the well exercised person, unlike her husband. Thinking of him, Vicky decided to check up on him. He suddenly stopped talking in the chat, which Vicky could only come up with the possibility that he was distracted tinkering away at something and forgot about the logs. It wasn't the first time it happened, but she did think it was a little strange seeing as they made a promise to be there for Sil.
Vicky promptly exited her bedroom. It was a separate place from Logan's own bedroom. They once had a shared one in the past, but Logan wasn't exactly the best at keeping his place tidy, and while Vicky wasn't the cleanest in her family, Logan made her side seem spotless with the amount of wires and servers that littered his space. There were a few slights that grew into arguments, one of Logan's gadgets got into her stuff, and she accidentally kicked one of his things. They eventually had to have their own rooms built in two separate locations, which miraculously improved upon their marriage. Their relationship was a little unusual but it worked. The walk to Logan's room wasn't long, just maybe 20 ft away. Nothing unusual yet.
However, when Vicky opened the door, what she saw was one she always hated to see. Logan's face had a dazed look. There were several things plugged into him, and he was muttering strange words. His hands were going onto several different servers, frantically searching for something. This was not the first time Vicky had seen this type of behavior from her husband, but it always hurt seeing him act this way. Before she could do anything else, Logan nearly tripped on one of the wires, and let out a yell of frustration. He quickly grabbed the collection of cables and ripped them out, the force caused the server they were attached to to fall over.
"Your data!" Vicky called out. She knew that Logan was normally quite precious with his technology.
"I have backups of my backups…." Logan mumbled, not really paying attention to his wife. Logan grabbed a few more cords and plugged them into a few spots of his arm. The lights of his suit changed colors frantically, as if Logan was searching for something. When nothing came to fruition, Logan slammed his fists onto a nearby chair in frustration. The fist shook the room a little.
Vicky took a deep sigh. "I can tell something is wrong, what's going on?"
Logan didn't even bother to look at her. "Nothing is wrong."
"Bullshit!" Vicky almost yelled, "don't act like this isn't the first time this happened. Something is bothering you."
Logan continued plugging in more cables, going on to type some things into a computer. He didn't seem to be fully aware of the world around him. The lights flickered again between numerous colors, and yet again, Logan was unable to find anything. This time, Logan slammed both of his fists onto the keyboard, breaking it with his strength. He tugged at the hair that was partially covering his face in frustration.
Vicky yelled out upon seeing the sight. "Logan! Look at what you're doing!"
Logan paused. He began to speak with a growl to his tone, still looking at no one. "Nothing… is wrong."
"Don't give me that crap, I hate it when you don't tell me these things. I know about Quinn's state." Vicky tried to get through to Logan. When seeing that she was speaking to a wall, she let out a yelling sigh, and turned around to another computer. She clicked on a few tabs and windows before turning it off. Vicky was sure they were out of the woods, until Logan grabbed her arm and went "TURN IT BACK ON! I WAS SO CLOSE!"
"So close— To WHAT? What is it Logan?!" She back handed his arm.
"I DON'T KNOW!" Logan screamed back. "I don't— I don't know where he is anymore!"
"Where? who is? If it's about Quinn— he's fine—"
"HE'S GONE VICKY." Logan blurted out, wide eyed.
The room went silent. Not even a breath was taken. Vicky stood there in absolute shock, unable to stray her gaze away from her lover.
"I meant… That he is missing. Not dead… I hope." Logan turned away to the empty black screens. "Not really dead if there's no body you know?"
He glanced back towards his wife, eyes filled with tears. "Maybe we'll find them again. Maybe Peter could come back to us with Quinn… maybe… Peter could…" He couldn't think of any other possibilities of return. The stress of losing yet another friend got to him. He'd lost so many people from the war. Logan had given an arm to Peter once a long time ago at the vampire settlement, and he always kept that part of him even after all of these years. Replacing a lost arm was an easy task for Logan, and yet, he kept his arm the same dalki one. Not only that, but Quinn was someone that did so much for him. The adventures they shared, the struggles they went through. He had a close connection to them both, he was willing to do anything for their sakes, and now they were nowhere to be found.
Vicky realized the stress that Logan must have gone through, having the burden of this knowledge and she was unaware of it all. She slowly approached him, careful to not step on any other wires. Kneeling down to his level, she gently grabs his chin making him face her.
"... maybe we will see them again." She whisperd, finishing his sentence.
She wraped him in a soft embrace, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and gently caressing his head with her hands. Logan sat there, his head in the nook of her neck, with tears threatening to fall. Her warmth molding together with his cold. Her love overpowering his once desperate mind. The pattern of each caress her hands made on his body. It was so… overwhelming to him.
A muffled sob was finally heard between Vicky's arms. There wasn't much they could do now, all they could do was wait. It was going to take 900 more years for Quinn to recover, and until he did, they just had to survive.
When Logan recollected himself, they began to collect their things and belongings to prepare to meet Sil. A ship was picked out, customized, and supplies were packed. This was something they needed to do while they waited. Logan gave a formal notice that he was going on vacation with his wife while their son was to be sent to the blades for the time being. Just for two weeks until they could meet up again.
